  • Old Rotary Drill Restoration video
This is Makita HR2601F AVT Rotary Hammer that I bought (20$) it from recycle shop with really poor condition. But after the restoration, it works very well and really powerful.
There are many parts are changed with this drill. I spent around 46$ for spare parts. You can find more detail in the video.
    Restoration Price
    Makita HR2601F AVT Rotary Hammer - 20$
    14:15 Trigger switch - 12$
    14:42 Electrical cord - 3$
    14:52 Brush holder set - 5$
    15:00 Chuck set - 5$
    15:10 Bearings - 2$
    15:24 Brush set - 3$
    15:40 Armature - 15$
    18:58 Mode switch spring - 1$
    22:38 Side handle - 3$
I hope you find something useful & enjoy from this video!
I am happy to receive your feedbacks, advices, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I apologize for the mistake if I have made in this restoration !!!

Makita, great quality, affordable spare parts - the fact that you could make that thing, which obviously was submerged in water for quite some time, run again for just 46 bucks really is testament to the fact that the good reputation of this brand is well founded. Great job mate!

when cleaning the motor winding, to ensure you do not knock the insulation coating off of the wire, i would recommend a tooth brush and a contact cleaner, abrasive wire wheels will knock the coatings off and the motor will become less efficient, and draw much more current.

HowTo Extreme I believe you’re right since each wire in the winding is supposed to be insulated from every part of the winding. I was just wondering if it could be possible. I don’t know how resistant the insulation coating is to withstand a wire brush but I’ve seen it done in a lot of restoration videos. I’ve seen one dude redo the windings on every motor he restores. Unfortunately I can’t remember his site.

Not a fan of the clear coating either. A few of them do it. It's a shame but i suppose you just can't get the polish back on plastics and rubber once they've been scrubbed. I thought when he started heat treating with the torch it might work but not so much. I'd actually rather it just be cleaned as well as poss and dull than have the glossy coat. None of which takes from the enjoyment and appreciation. We're all fans here.
