- How fast is the 6.5 PRC Tikka rifle? Hornady 6.5 PRC 143 gr ELD-X Precision Hunter ammunition. 15 shots threw a chronograph. Special Edition Tikka T3x Bolt-Action Rifle in TrueTimber VSX with 24.3 inch barrel.
Super fantastic video. Thank you for doing a review in this gun.
Thank you for watching.
Very nice rifle
Nice 👍
I may have missed it but what was the barrel's length?
I did not include that in the video but it is a 24.3 inch barrel.
Good video. I just bought a new rifle. Browning Xbolt Hells Canyon Speed Long Range 280AI. I've been looking at scopes now. How do u like the Leupold? Scopes i been looking at.
Leica amplus 6 3x18x44mm
Nightforce shv 5x20x56mm
Trijicon tenmile 4x24x50mm
Leupold VX5 HD 3-15x44mm
Leupold VX5 HD 4x24x52mm
Zeiss V4 4x16x44mm
Any suggestion??
Thank you and thanks for watching. I would recommend the Leupold VX5 HD 4x24x52mm if you are doing long range shooting on a regular basis. The Leupold scopes have a very good CDS dial system also.
Leupold - all made in China, Japan, some in Europe, assembled in USA. You'd be best served with a Zeiss V6 (German glass), or a Leica since those are on your list. I've owned 38 Leupold scopes. Sold every one of them except one and only reason I still have it is it's in MILs and seems ok for close range work (350 yards or so) on the Tikka 270
@@derekmcmurry I have gotten it down to 2 scopes.
Trijicon tenmile 4x24x50mm
Leica amplus 6 3x18x44mm.
@@ozark_trapper I've seen good things and reviews online with that Trijicon. No experience personally. James Eagleman on the Barbour Creek shooting school channel seems to like Trijicon pretty well. If he's on board you can't go wrong. The Leica is a no brainer. Love my Leica optics.
@derekmcmurry4263 I watched his review. That he did on the Trijicon. I don't know anyone that has a Leica scope.
Where did you get the cheek pad?
It comes on that gun from Tikka.
Weird. I don’t see that gun on their website and I’ve never seen one in the US.
@@MrHf4l Check Cabela's Canada. Or search this tittle, " Special Edition Tikka T3x Bolt-Action Rifle in TrueTimber VSX "
Barrel length?
24.3 INCH
What is that cheek riser?
It is part of the stock on that gun. It comes with that special edition.
@@b8ranch what edition?
@@joemarkivich635 Special Edition Tikka T3x Bolt-Action Rifle in TrueTimber VSX with 24.3 inch barrel. Available at Cabela's Canada.
@@b8ranch ah. I am in the US.
@@joemarkivich635 I am surprised they don't offer that gun in the US.
Muzzle brake?! It's a 6.5 PRC not a .338 Win. Mag.
Yes I agree. It probably doesn't need one.
And a 338 mag isn't a 600 nitro.
@@Halcyon1861 Have you even seen a 600 Nitro around?
I would be pissed if that was my rifle.
About what ?
@@b8ranch that rifle shot like shit unless he just can’t shoot.
@@ryanhigdon2343 lol. Ya it’s probably the shooter for sure! It was very windy that day. Plus I probably should have been shooting prone. Also those 3 shot groups in between targets start to finish I was walking the sight closer to bullseye each shot. The biggest thing was the trigger. I didn’t know about the two stage trigger until after making the video.
@@b8ranch it wasn’t a jab at you, it’s just these days with the advances in rifles 1 inch or more is just ridiculous, unless it’s the shooters fault. But it was a good video.
@@ryanhigdon2343 no worries I wasn’t offended at all. I know I can do better. I do appreciate good criticism. Yes I do agree with you. My rifles at 200 yards the group is touching. Thanks for watching. I do have another shooting video coming up.
FYI!
Calling a 6.5 prc a hopped op 270 is like calling a porsche 911 a hopped op VW beatle
lol. ok. So the 270 in metric is ~ 6.8 mm bullet with a muzzle velocity of 3023 ft/sec. The 6.5 PRC is a 6.5 mm bullet with a muzzle velocity of 2910 ft/sec. The 6.5 has a much better BC. You don't think that statement is accurate?
@@b8ranch so im getting 3080fps with 142s on a 24" barrel all within book loads. But its when you start to reach out to longer distances when you really see the 6.5 shine. Im not saying that the 270 is a bad cartridge. Im just saying that the 6.5prc is a major upgrade
@@francoisbuys8783 yes that is what I have read too. That is why I am interested in this gun. I've heard very good things about the 6.5 PRC. The gun is not mine, I just set it up for a friend. I was asking the question sincerely because I don't know.
Love my waypoint 6.5 prc shoots ☘️ at 💯, nice review
@@b8ranch here is my take. Up to normal hunting rangs, 350-400yards they are very close, the 6.5 will be better in the wind. But bullet drop and energy on target will be almost identical.
But going past that the 6.5prc is great. I have found that it is stupidly easy to get it to group at high velocities. I shot it at 1100 yard and it shot a 7" group. Thats what makes it great for me. Great hunting round and if you want to hit some steel you can reach 1 mile with ease. One thing to note, I really do believe that all the prc cartridges needs to be handloaded to reach the hype that everybody makes of it.
