- 1-3-1 Basketball Zone Defense is a half court zone defense that you can use to slow down and even stop your opponent from scoring. The bonus to the 1-3-1 Zone defense is that it will stop any high to low post passes. In the 1-3-1 Basketball zone defense you will have a player up top guarding the ball handler, 3 players at the free throw line and extended and then 1 player in the low block.

Hey Basketball Coach Allen here is a fact about 1-3-1 Zone Defense!!!
The 1-3-1 Zone Defense was in Nba2k14 was the last time that was there. It was the best zone defense ever!!!
Interesting... I remember using the 1-3-1 in the last NCAA 2k ... I wish those NCAA games would come back
We played this defense against
the #1 team in our state and only lost by 5
hopefully next time you win
Coach, could you please please please make a video of this 1-3-1 going against a youth offense that doesn’t use the corners. They have their 4 & 5 in the low posts, and their wings are 1-2 feet inside the 3 point line. The 1 comes right up the middle to the top of the key. I’d tremendously appreciate seeing some hypothetical offensive situations against this defense.
would you mean an offense to play against the 1-3-1 ?
@@bballcoachallen no sir, I want to run the 1-3-1 but I’m curious if you can make another video like this one using a basic offense without any attacks from the corners or any attacks from beyond the 3 point line. In our league we typically face pretty basic offenses….1 at the top of the key, 2 & 3 in a narrow wing position inside the 3 point line, 4 & 5 down by the goal. I’m curious if you can put something together teaching me the best way to use 1-3-1 against that style offense, with some hypothetical situations we might run into.
What i am missing is how to react if the Offense is playing a normal 1-2-2 Offense with both Centers in the Post. In our league this is more common than 4 or 5 players out.
man to man defense or my unbeatable defense in the description can stop multi post teams. its an older style strategy to stick 2-4 players around the key and will work against that team if they dont run a play to get the players out of the key. ... you could win a lot of games buy shooting more 3s and running 7 second offences
How does the shifting change against a 3 high 2 low offense?
the same as you see here in this video... it all comes down to where the basketball is on the court
Thanks What's ur easiest zone defense to teach 3-4 graders rec ?? On an 8 foot rim just in structural league thanks
after teaching the man to man defense and they master it to the best of their abilities I would suggest a 2-3 zone
do not teach this age group zone
If the ball movement is relatively good, how would this defense respond if the 5 or 3 on offense cuts to the rim and the 1 on offense passes the ball between the gaps between the 4 and 3 or the 4 and 2 on defense?
that would collapse the zone
Can you teach me the shell drill, I feel like the 1-3-1 is similar to the shell drill but I still have trouble
sure thing
Basketball Coach Allen , great so will you be possibly making a video?
What signal would u use for indication for this one???
I usually say to allow the coach to decide a simple hand signal for each play, for example holding up a pointer finger and pinky finger for horns and then calling out the play number that the coach has chosen for the play
Play the ball not players......
A zone you guard an area of the court, in man defense you guard a man. In help defense you play the ball while still guarding your man
