Literally finished reading the manga yesterday, shit depressed asf i hate it. Now i don't feel good when i'm sleeping, i don't feel good when i'm eating. It ruined my mood completely
I read it when I was 16 or 17. Now I am 21 and it was probably the most impactful piece of literature I've ever read in my life. I keep going back to certain volumes just to re experience the feelings I had while reading it and observe how my perception of certain parts of the story changed. I have only read it all the way through that one time but I still think about it a lot. Absolute masterpiece in my opinion.

What garnt missed out on is actually that natsuki has as much as brain cells that a teenage boy has at that age and the character development as he goes into college and then becoming an adult, the way he matures and accepts the dumpster fire of the situation he's in.

I love how in Vinland saga, you see Thorfinn, a character that starts so violent and angry, become significantly less violent and go towards living (or trying to) as a “true warrior” without a sword. Then in juxtaposition, you see Canute, who starts off so feebly, change into a much more violent person. They both follow in their fathers footsteps. Vinland Saga is beautiful for a ton of reasons.

Forcefully brought over from the modern world to an alternate world, Wang Chong felt detached and lived his life aimlessly.
However, when calamity struck and he saw his family and everything he cared for being torn apart, he felt regret.
Thus, he stood up and eventually became the Grand Marshal of the Central Plains, leading an army against those who seek to destroy all he cherished.
Yet, despite all his efforts, it was already too late to reverse destiny.
But before his death, a shooting star, the same one which brought him to this world, appeared before him, and he was given another chance to undo his regrets.

Whereas vinland got a kid whose only goal is to get revenge, and then he becomes good. For me it's a bit generic compared to Kingdom but still good
Edit: Fucking hell, I got alot of shit for this take lmfao. I know u guys like vinland n think it makes u smarter n whatnot but I'm just saying Kingdom is better than vinland as a "Historical Manga", generally I put both about the same standing as both are good imo.
Kingdom details the event of the history while at the same time expanding on a huge line of characters, while Vinland focuses on a set of characters.
Also I know im oversimplifying stuff here, just take it as what it is n stop shitting your pants on other ppl opinions
@@kaii2505 vinland generic??? I think you read another manga

As a fan of Solo Levelling I got to say - I generally agree that the story is somewhat lacking. But it is still a solidly-build world and, although it follows basically every possible Korean trope there is, it's still rather good. But the art... it is beyond gorgeous... it is borderline orgasmic. Also we all know Koreans love their necromancers just as much as the Chinese love their cultivators... not much intrigue there, tbh.
Pleasantly surprised Connor likes the Black Butler manga. Such a good story that unfortunately had an overbearing fandom steering away fans. Glad to see it getting some praise. 🙌
I remember watching the first season as a kid and enjoying it a lot. Gonna read the manga now because of Connor!
Would you recommend the anime or the manga?
@@sovaponoc9970 Manga 100%. The anime does have a pretty good OST. Season 3 and the movies is when Black Butler finally got good anime adaptations. Season 1 - first few episodes are canon the rest is anime original. Season 2 is all anime original. The manga is the best way to experience the serious themes in my opinion. Hope that helps!
@@yurikuki The manga is very good! 👍
Hve you seen hes channel? Connor used to allways upload black bulter
I wholeheartedly relate to Connor when it comes to One Punch Man, the first season was so good that it got me to read the manga.

This episode truly pulls on my heart
Psyren, mx0, ichigo100%; the dynamic duo really pulling out the older stops
3 of my top 15 i hardly hear about in one place... thank you
I love how Connor alway try to reference Cartman “how do i reez these kids” with Joey and Garnt displaying little to none reaction
He can't reach deez keeds
the crazy thing is that they adapted like 600+ chapters of baki in less than 100 episodes, so theres hope for everything
To be fair Baki has a lot of chapters that have 5 pages for just characters moving their hand and foot lol.
I'm still hoping for a new season of baki
@@soseikiharagatatsu7859 were going to get the arizona prison arc animated already by Netflix. We got a trailer and op too
The one "Honorable Mention" in this that made me squeal with glee was Joey mentioning "Mx0".
Mx0 was a manga that I binged when I was a young teenager, and it was so damned good and yet it was so underappreciated. It's been a very long time since I read it, so it might be time that I go back and flip through it again.
"The final chapter of slam dunk is one of the beautiful cinematic in manga"
YES
I am a bit lost, chapter 276 is the last as far as I know and it had plenty of dialoge? am I missing something bruh
“The Case Study Of Vanitas” and “I Hear The Sunspot” are probably my two faves. Though I’ve read a ton, those two are definitely my children. I’ve read “The Case Study Of Vanitas” since the first manga came out in 8th grade, and it finely getting an anime during my freshman year of college was really heartwarming.
Vanitas is ass
I´m currently watching Vanitas and it´s so cool. Is the manga even better? And "I hear the sunspot" is so adorable! In Germany we have a total of 5 volumes right now and I can´t wait to get more!!
You should check out her first Jun's first big work pandora hearts - if you like Vanitas (its great)

You should really check out Pandora Hearts. One of the greatest manga ever
So lemme get this square: the manga/anime the boys know they'll love but just aren't in a rush to start/can't start bc they're busy
Connor: One Piece
Garnt: Fullmetal Alchemist
Joey: HunterxHunter
Funny how I haven't consumed any one of them either
@@1030warren same
The boys need to read/watch them so that they could make a trash taste video specifically for these shows, I would be down for that
Bruh the day connor finally watches/reads one piece ima celebrate
Na. Garnt will never consume Fullmetal Alchemist
I love Beck so much, I'm so glad the trash taste boys like it. I feel like I don't hear enough people talk about it. I waited so many years for them to continue the anime but it never happened, so I finally read the manga a few years ago and it's SO good.
When they were talking about Beck, I remembered Wondance, I really liked reading it and the dance portrayed in there is amazing. It's such a modern manga, with its art, characters and the dance! I used to play the songs that were mentioned the characters would dance to. You could feel the vibes, gonna pick it up again!
Hearing that Joey hasn’t read/watched HxH had me absolutely shellshocked.
Yu Yu Hakusho does go hard though.
In one of his videos he said that it’s because he doesn’t want something like berserk. Ya know the hiatus of a very good show
Yeah it came out of nowhere.. even the bois doesn't know it..
He actually says it in the beginning of the previous trash taste manga episode
@M Billa meaning that he hasn't read or watched it yet lol
@M Billa yep
I remember reading Punpun because of Joey's recomendations near new years a couple years ago. Maybe shouldn't have read it all in one night but boy did it hit fucking HAAAAAAAARD, took me out of comission for like half a year but it certainly stayed with me ever since and marked me in a way that just made me change as a young adult. Thanks Joey
Half a year? Now I'm more afraid to read it
@@ricmorales3406 Don't be, it was half my fault for reading int whilst being In a bad place mentally
@@metallicafanatiko ya I very much agree that you shouldn't read punpun if you are struggling with mental health. I heard a lot of people said their depression got seriously bad after reading the manga
Book of circus was a wonderful arc. It was super dark with the big twist and it was really good!
YESSSSS Mx0 and Psyren are some of my favorites!! I love that they talked about these!!
It's funny how every person that has finished Oyasumi Punpun has the same collective experience of just sitting still contemplating your entire existence after finishing the entire manga lmfao😭😭
The last 4 chapters would scar your life for days like it might make you feel empty. Definitely not recommended for people with depression or experiencing existential dread. I might sound exaggerating but think about for yourself.
The blood going through my heart and veins felt like petrol after I finished. Great manga
My thoughts were WTF was that and why did I buy all of it before I started reading it, probably would have dropped it earlier if I hadn't. It was depressing and weird.
Nice art though.
Exactly. It's still the best story I've ever read, it impacted me like no other show has, not even breaking bad. It might not be for everyone but it's dear to my heart
@@cas9007 Punpun is less "Im depressed I need help" and more "How deep can humanity fall, accelerated by depression", Case in point, that point in the final few chapters, where blinded in one eye, bloody and cut open, Punpun and Aiko have sex out in the forest. Two people truly driven to the brink of sanity more by themselves, than anything else, I'd say. It's a brilliant manga. I thought it was the most accurate depiction of depression ever, before BoJack Horseman showed up, but Punpun is a very very close second there.
Again, just to reiterate, I think Punpun is more a warning of how deep you can push yourself, how deep you can sink, fueled by your own self hatred and inability to get out, than existential dread or fight against depression. I could go on for very long about Punpun. Hands down my favourite manga.
Gotta admit, Garnts list was actually surprisingly good. Kingdom, Psyren, The Breaker. Damn dude.
These are all insane Manga and The Breaker's art is just so good
Why surprising? 😅
Garnt: Nobody reads 200 chapter of something they dont enjoy.

I hope they make a second part of this sometime in the future
Feels so weird to me to hear them say that "Jojo was unknown in the west" while in my country (Italy) the manga has been published since '93
But then again, Italy has always been a heaven for anime and manga, always been popular
Yeah, I can see what you mean. Doraemon and shinchan are quite popular in Asia as a whole and I was honestly quite surprised when some Italians randomly brought up doraemon and shinchan in a convo as an icebreaker or something.
@@samuraijosh1595 yep!! I loved both as a kid
Damn u are lucky. In my country anime was like a unknown word and only became popular 5 years ago
which part of italy? I'm from and still live in naples and literally barely anybody i know watches anime or reads manga lmao
Did they forget that onizuka became a teacher because when he tried to hook up with a high school girl , he discovered her boyfriend is a teacher , then the next day he just decided " IMA BE A TEACHER "
Fucking Legend
Just discovered this legend of a anime/manga, just a few years ago. It became an instant top favorite for me!
I must say, I was so glad to see GTO here. This manga is the reason I wanted to become myself a teacher. One of the best inspiration in my life!
About the "GTO premise" being slept on in the west: When describing it, you actually perfectly described the plot of the German movie series "Fack Ju Göhte" (released in English as "Suck Me Shakespeer"). German Rom-coms (which this can surprisingly be categorized as) have a tendency towards the trope of "bad boy gets reformed by nice girl", but it is done really well in this movie, all the characters are these really funny walking stereotypes, but it is still genuinely heartfelt at times. Not sure how well some of the gags translate, but I'd recommend it to anyome who likes that trope!
Domestic Girlfriend in a manga 3x3. Garnt cannot stop expressing his love for dumpster fires. That's some commitment though, I'll give him that.
Well, he made me read it. I love it
DomeKano is pretty good, had a rushed and questionable ending(even for Hina simps like me), but i still remember how amazing the experience was, waiting for new chapters after a lot of dramatic cliffhangers and talking with friends on what could happen next.
And i feel like a lot of series these days fails to make people feel like that. But again there is a lot of hidden gems out there that are judged by its cover(Genre).
Hina best girl
And the Manga’s pretty good honestly. Trashy, yes, but does more than enough to develop the characters to make the trashy plot and set up worth it for me.
Fellow Rui team here. I loved on how goofy the anime was and the manga ending 😂
Oyasumi punpun is my favorite manga, still one of the most spine chilling stories i've ever read, i still get chills when i see the “Punpun is just fine again today” panel. Would 100% reccomend ONLY if you are in a good mental state, please do not underestimate what Joey is saying about being very depressing and needing to just sit there and contemplate what you just read.
I remember reading it about 2 years ago, and I had to drop it not because it was bad, but because it genuinely made me feel horrible. I want to pick it back up again, but unfortunately I am absolutely not in the best mental state to do so :')
So... hmm.. not gonna read punpun for now..
I'll just add this to my list.
I think people really overestimate how hard it is to read. Existential dread, suicidal contemplation and the "dark" inside everyone are tough subjects to cover, but only if you've never seriously thought about it yourself.
Punpun flying while carrying an umbrella is still one of the best manga panels I've ever seen
Sell it to me I'm not that interested nor invested yet i want spoilers.
This is the trash taste episode that I can watch over and over again. This one's my fourth time
I'm sooooo excited that someone brought up blackcat I love the series soooo much

Also the boys: *talks about their taste in manga for nearly 3 hours, making it their longest podcast episode yet.*
This confirm their statement actually. They know it’s tiring because they wouldn’t be able to stop talking about their favorite manga.
Connor talking about Brandon Sanderson (on how to write characters smarter than yourself) is the most unexpected crossover but I am completely here for it
why unexpected? Brandon is one of the most famous fantasy writers right now (and probably ever)
Not gonna lie, I was debating whether I should watch this episode or start reading Shadows of Self.
@@UlfMTG If you are into current fantasy, then yes, it's impossible to miss him. But if you are not into modern western fantasy....or you know reading itself, like Connor, it's pretty surprising.
But yeah, Brandon is basically one good TV adaptation away from becoming the new GRR Martin to the mainstream.
