Crowdfunding is an increasingly popular option for any small business looking to raise money. It's one of the most accessible ways of financing a new idea or product. But launching a successful crowdfunding campaign isn’t as easy as setting up a page on Kickstarter or Indiegogo and waiting for the money to roll in.

Yes. we photographed our prototypes which were essentially production samples. we held off on production until the campaign finished and we knew our quantities

I would like to do agroforestry. After the land purchase at 1.3 million. I am investing 300k into the trees n shrubs. Because trees the a long time to produce (7years to first few nuts, 10 years to mature production), I was thinking of crowd funding to assist with irrigation and/or mowing. Calculating international shipping costs and duties while ensuring profitability can be challenging, especially when starting out. Some tips that we can offer are for you to explore different shipping carriers and to compare their rates, to continuously monitor the carrier's performance (their cost and shipping times, for example), as well as to regularly review your shipping strategy and pivoting where needed. If available in your region, using Shopify Shipping: shopify.link/Q18v can help offer more accurate shipping rates on your store. Otherwise, a shipping app from the Shopify App Store: shopify.link/w0p7 can also help.
Just a reminder that it's your customer's own responsibility to pay for any duties and import taxes for their orders. But if you'd like to offer them the option of collecting any of these fees on your store's checkout, you can definitely look at implementing this feature for your store: shopify.link/QDAl.
@@learnwithshopify thanks for your reply. We are working on an Indiegogo campaign. We have had our Shopify store running already and we use Shipstation. We only sell in the US and would be concerned if we have to ship out of the country because we couldn't afford the cost.
Gotcha! Shipping internationally can definitely involve additional expenses. In saying this, having the right strategy could help in keeping the costs low - plus, using an app like Shipstation should allow you to charge customers the most accurate shipping rate on checkout too. This would help in your case, as the customer would pretty much cover most, if not all, of the shipping costs involved with their order.

ngl 'kickstarter', 'indiegogo' and 'crowdfunding' seems pretty scammy to me. Seems more like an ICO / vapourware type of company. Either you have a company with an already made product ready to ship or you don't. You don't build a plane while it's still taking off on the runway
we had actual product in hand. just needed to crowdfund to order larger quantities and build a customer base.
