Paintings with obscure meanings are always fascinating, especially when done with such artistry and skill as this one.The subject deserves a whole series.

Fun fact: Cupid's foot in the bottom left corner is the giant foot that appears in Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Why is this resemblance significant...I don't know actually but I have heard it quite often though I don't get it why it's so special?

@@bereniceg777 It’s not just that the foot looks similar, it’s that Terry Gilliam actually used a cutout from this painting for the foot animation. Nothing too special, just a fun fact.

Actually i believe the figure pulling out her hair represents jealousy, despair and envy while the figure in the top left corner is actually the daughter of Time -> Truth so in this painting Time is trying to hide Cupid kissing his mother from the truth.

      The Trex Nation
The truth is always naked, why would she (the truth) would use a mask? Why the truth would be hiding herself?
      I don’t agree with you

Most of disturbed relationships can be related to this painting
The pure love is confusing to understand maybe because they never received pure uncondional love,

Did Francis 1 actually accept this gift from Cosimo 1? Perhaps it was a bit too out there even for Francis.

    Cosimo wasn't a great gift-giver.. 😅
Aside from the overtly uncomfortable figures, I can't get past the distortion of Cupid's body. There's no way his head would made it to its current position in that pose. Same could be said for the seemingly disembodied serpent girl... Mad creepy all around, lol. I do agree with the theory that it's about the cost of pleasure (over time).
