As someone who lived in Portage for 8 years before I moved to Van Buren County, it's definitely heartbreaking to see something like this happen here. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this storm.
Wow, my place is in Scotts. Not far from there. I was at my mom n dads farm in Cass County. We have damage there. I have not gotten home to see my damage. I hear the sirens did not go off. Thanks for the video. I will go at daybreak to see if my place is still there.
Yes, It sure did. After forming west of town, it touched down and destroyed several blocks of homes in the West Main Hill area. It skipped over the west end downhill from there, then hit downhill Kalamazoo with a vengeance and destroyed numerous buildings along the downtown corridor, especially Bronson Park and everything directly east from there. As I recall, that's the area where most of the deaths occured. I saw that tornado from Gull Road, from about a couple miles away. At that point it was a dark and enormous wedge tornado as it was hitting downtown; I immediately took cover. The tornado apparently veered immediately to the east-southeast from downtown about a mile or so south of me, eventually lifting back into the sky after destroying some greenhouses and doing other property damage just south of Comstock. That tornado left a lasting image in my mind, one I'll never forget.
I was at work when the tornado was far away from work but I was okay I was with my coworker at Wendy's till the tornado warning was done and I was at home with no power till 9:59 it's came back on
Yeah I watched the storm rotation that produced this tornado over in St Joseph MI and you could tell that it was going to be bad because it kept getting stronger and more organized on Radar.
@shellyR7151 trees blocking doorways, trees on top of utility lines that cause the road to be closed to everyone including EMS. Our emergency calls aren't to make shit look pretty, it's so first responders (police/fire/ems) and all other response teams can do their job. Some people are idiots and think "well my small car wont cause an issue" but then you get 1000 people that think that way and it definitely causes an issue lol
I used to live right across from Pavilion Estates. It got hit straight on. I bet my old house got hit. I also be there is a run on chainsaws in the area.
I just got changed and am heading to do a few more hours of work with my chainsaws. We weren't allowed to clear much last night. The officials won't let any clearing done until the wires are all neutralized. We'll be clearing trees, etc, until tomorrow night. I'm blessed to have good chainsaws. You are right. Looky Lews can be a pain. I pay no attention. I'm busy. 🤠 🇺🇸

I'm on the east side of the state, but have family in the Portage area, I appreciate your video.

So much devastation here in Portage, was so scary!
Very scary
So sorry for you folks. 🙏 For you
@@user-yn7on7ou8n thank you we gonna be fine just gonna suck for few days with no electricity but god got us
On another channel comment said 3 dead several injured. FedEx plant collapsed
It didn’t collapse just badly damaged
God have mercy!
Part of the FedEx building did collapse, but luckily, there were no deaths at all
No one deed
Wow. Thanks for posting this. Hope everyone is okay.
Thank you for sharing please stay safe.
Thanks so much for capturing the fresh damage....poor celery flats
This is very close to where I live and I’ll be busy with damage appraisals. I hope everyone is ok. Be safe people.
Ugh, spent a lot of time there when I lived in Kalamazoo. My heart sank a bit when I saw the radar and tornado warnings.
We were under both tornado emergencies but nowhere near as bad as Portage. Horrible situation
Missed my workplace by barely half a mile!
We barely missed it. Just less than a mile south of us
My town barely missed it last night in Oklahoma. My county was under a tornado emergency. An EF4 hit two towns close by me.
I live just a couple of miles south of this, and we had nothing but rain. No hail, no wind, no tornado, nothing.
Weather is weird.
I think we all in Kalamazoo felt the same feeling that day after the storms.
this is so close to where i live. it was scary.
Prayers for all those affected
Yes, indeed. Many prayers. 🤠🇺🇸
Kalamazoo had a tornado years ago that killed 5 people

Thank you for taking this video I was very curious what happened here.
Tornado in Michigan? 😮
Yep it's regular thing.
I was at work when the tornado was far away from work but I was okay I was with my coworker at Wendy's till the tornado warning was done and I was at home with no power till 9:59 it's came back on
🙏🙏🙏
That's about an F1
If that was a strong f3 or F4 those crossing signals would have been mangled and destroyed especially the gates
Michigan gets F3’s casually ?
It was an F2, borderline F3.
Anything from/about Galesburg?
Anything on Tall Timbers, how it made out?
thankx 4 the video
Prayers

Lot's of damage, hope everyone made out safe.
Spinny wind went through my sisters trailer park. They are fine and their hut is mildly damaged but thr rest of the joint is trashed
Wow..why would you even go down there after a tornado,,emergency crews needed in and all the rubber neckers....shame on all of you
Shame shame shame
Yeah I work for a tree company and we couldn't get to our emergency calls because of everyone clogging up traffic just to look at the damage.
@andrewm3150 my hubby works for utility company..and they battle these idiots...stay home ..no reason for anyone but first responders should be there

Extremely disrespectful
Thank you for being our eyes and ears. The quality of your video is impressive.

I used to live right across from Pavilion Estates. It got hit straight on. I bet my old house got hit. I also be there is a run on chainsaws in the area.

No. That area of michigan had normal showers. Good question. 🤠
Portage got rolled
Was after the first or second tornado
Both. One hit then the other. Most of the damage will be attributed to the first tornado. 🤠
