- In this video Brad makes a Festabrew Oatmeal Stout and then has some fun flavoring it with a few Still Spirits Essences. The beauty of homebrewing is taking creative control and trying things out. Even if it's a simple kit like a Festabrew. You could add lactose as Brad does, swap out the yeast for something different or just add some dry hops or try out different fermentation temperatures to see how it affects the flavor in the finished beer. Homebrewing is about being creative and having fun. That being said don't get to FuF'd now. Cheers

You guys rule! Love the Burps!
I have never thought of using those essences in my brew in the past until I have started binge watching all of your past brewing episodes. And I have never even heard of Festa Brew until you guys, and doing a bit of research they are out of Ontario so being in the states I probably wouldn't have. Been really enjoying the FuF videos. Between the experiments and fixing issues that may occur during a brew session it is nice to see it not all taken out, but shared so that even the newest of brewers can see ways to correct a mishap.
Thanks for the kind words.
That burp made me giggle :)
Agree, I also tried the box trick and it was a disaster.
Sawdust City in Ontario has an imperial stout called Blood of Cthulhu, using raspberries, sour cherries and cranberries. Would you do a split batch to see if flavor extracts could work better than fruit purees?
Sounds like a great idea.
Why did you mix in lactose?
