Brewing a Lager At Room Temperature? W34/70 vs Novalager: From Fermonster to Oxebar Which Will Win?

- In this video, Brad splits a Festa Brew Continental Pilsner Kit into two FerMonsters and ferments them using two popular lager yeasts: W-34/70 and NovaLager. The goal is to determine which yeast performs better when fermenting at room temperature. Given that the Festa Brew kits are 23 liters, he uses two 11.5-liter FerMonsters, which are then transferred into Kegland Oxebar 8L kegs.

Cut the corner of the box out and pull the nozel out then close up and reseal the box. Easy to pour then
Nice pro tip, definitely trying this next time. Cheers
Anxious the whole time the fermenter was open 😅
Pear is a shape, I use that all the time!
Ive done that same kit at 20C under 15psi. Worked great. Done it a few times.
That's awesome did you use the yeast that was included or something else
Good comparison, with brewing you never really know what you may get !
I had an epiphany on my last brew day thinking about the previous discussion of weight in the floating dip tube. I have some of those carb caps in stainless, and I was taking one apart to clean it. The inside barbed part is the perfect size and weight to fit into the screen pickup. And the weight was perfect.
That's awesome I will try that. Cheers
the angle cut on the hard tubing is to help push it into the little silicon elbow. but yeah as others mentioned just replace it all with silicon and you can ditch the rigid and the elbow
Turn the bucket upright and place the keg inside, it won't fall over.
I usually leave the wort in the box and siphon it into the fermenter
Thanks for this video. Great comparison! Cheers🍻🍻
It's fun to do these side by side experiments. Cheers!
Love your videos Brad , always looking forward to a F***** up Friday , Gets me ready for the weekend, 🍀
Cheers!
try leaving the bag in the box so you have a rigid container to pour from.
I've had great luck brewing at room temperature with Novalager under pressure. I'm still looking for a comparison between a room temp Novalager and a traditionally done lager.
This is something we will for sure make a video about at some point. Cheers
Does Paul know you served up some mold beer hah! Great video though guys! As for a stand for the PET kegs, just use a 5 gallon pail. I’m surprised at the results and expected the Novalager to finish cleaner.
I do now, WTF Brad?! lol
The keg has the ridgid hose so you can lay them down in a fridge or a cooler box etc
Im totaly into moldy kits from now on!
😂😂😂
Spraying the foam with starsan helps make it go down.
I've never heard of that. Definitely going to try it next time.
Can confirm it works. Saved me a few times.
Replace those dip tubes with the same material as Fermzilla. Class video as always.
Good idea 💡
@@graintoglass always found it strange they put such a rigid one in those bottle kegs.
Replace the oxebar evabarrier line with silicone tubing. It works so much better
Love it! Ima do that
Pro Tip: Its easier to pour when its still in the box.
A lot of people have commented this. Definitely going to try that next time.
Try the FlotIt 2.0 floating dip tube. Light years better than the Kegland ball
Haven't heard of that. I'll look into it. Cheers
good shit(content)
Thank you! Cheers!

Thanks!
I fucked up a few weeks ago and pitched nova at 27c (thought it was 21) and then my STC1000 failed and my fridge didn't work properly so that fucker rose to 30c but thankfully it was under 20psi.
the final beer is, honestly, surprisingly, fine? a cold IPA with a lot of cascade, centennial and chinnok, but no weird off flavours.
That's crazy! Good to hear that it turned out.
@@graintoglass fucked up Friday idea. What happens if you treat nova like Lutra 🤣
First time seeing one of your vids. Man, the shifting camera angles and zooms every 2 seconds is giving me a headache, had to tune out. Thanks though.
Thanks for checking out our channel and for the feedback. Cheers!

😂😂😂
Brewday, what brewday😂
mold vs yeast 😂
It's hard to watch the amount of bad advice you offer to new homebrewers. Your video could be the reason this hobby is slowly dying. Brewing a lager is not easy and requires technique and experience. Don’t make the European ancestors cry 😢
It's a hard watch for sure. To each their own, but this is not how I brew a lager or any beer for that matter.
Nonsense. The point of the hobby isn't to appease you. They keep it light and try things. Some are pretty great ideas, some don't work...kinda the point. And they're very clear that some of the things they're doing are experimental. If you don't like, don't watch
You're right. I won't watch and I advise new brewers to do the same.@@MarkCee-vc1hk
