IS BEER BETTER BREWED UNDER PRESSURE ?

  • I’ve brewed this beer many times it’s my favourite home brewed beer. This is the first time brewed under pressure,dry hopped with a hop bong and closed transferred. Is the money for the equipment worth it ? Is the beer that much better? Let’s see 👍🍻

    Really interesting review Rick, you are completely correct when you say that the cost of the homebrew hobby never stops 😂

    So great points there Rick. My thoughts are closed transfer and hope bong being handy for a lot of dry hopping for sure , otherwise not necessary, IMO. It's awesome that you've made a great brew and we will see if you're still using it this time next year. You've made a lot of very good beers in the past which is awesome. Well done and very interesting video. Cheers mate😎👍

    It may be subjective but I agree with you. There is a good argument that lots of small tweaks collectively make a huge difference so pressure, hop bong, closed transfer all have a positive impact.
    Looks great too :-)

    Great work Rick. I love using my snubnose pressure fermenter. If making a hoppy beer its the go to !.
    Buckets an Conical are fine but for the Neipas and hopbombs you cant beat the pressure ferments.
    Think the creamy mouthfeel comes from it being pressure fermented as in the co2 that the yeast produces cant go anywhere apart from back into the solution,
    so it is all natural co2 produced. The keg should only need Co2 to push beer out to the tap.
    Cheers Rick thanks for being there \_/ Mark

    After a rough day gardening in a very sunny and hot day i decided top pour a bitter. Ended up at the computer an a new video was there, enjoying yor story - happy days!😃 And yes - with my two allrounders i´ve been more consistant and especially on the lagers and some more hoppy brews. Had a lot of really good beers in the buckets as well and it´s totally possible to make nice bitters an so on with close transfers with the buckets. But i´m with you on this - these fermenters ar another level!
    Thank´s for another uplifting video! 🍻

    Just bought a Fermzilla Allrounder mostly for the ability to have an oxygen free process. But I’m looking forward to getting into the wonderful world of pressure fermentation. Your beer sounds absolutely banging! Cheers mate. 🍺

      Some pressure fermentation and especially zero oxygen dry hopping and beer transfer makes a big difference. However I would say you ideally need to move away from plastic fermentation because it’s still porous and can get oxygen through the plastic. Ss is the way to go. It’s a lot more expensive but it’s a game changer and will last longer.

    Three things that have transformed my beers:
    1. R.O. water, then dilute with tap water.
    2. 1 litre yeast starters
    3. Pressure fermentation for lager yeasts
    My last 8 or 9 brews have kicked arse due to the above.
    Great videos, great work, pal.

      if you have a keg, you don't even need to buy a new vessel. just buy a spunding valve and a floating dip tube, ferment right in the keg.

  • @BigBananaBrewing
    @BigBananaBrewing Před měsícem +1

    I will try the closed loop trick next time I transfer to keg. Normally I just hook fv straight up to gas and keep the keg gas post open. Yes have to agree that for hoppy beers, pressure fermenting is a game changer. It just makes it smell and taste fresher and cleaner than you'd ever get from a bucket. Also, the way I look at it is that as long as you are using (and enjoying using) the expensive equipment regularly then that justifies the cost.

    • @BrewabitRick
      @BrewabitRick  Před měsícem

    Infectious enthusiasm as per usual. Chomping at the bit to get back at it. Watch this space.
    Citra and mosiac is a cheat code for IPA really isnt it?
    I'd been pressure fermentating for years (albeit with no hop bong) i sort of take it for granted now. I dont do it for all my beers especislly now i have the Stainless, it can in theory hold 3psi but ive never tried it.
    In terms of NEIPA, ive done a grand total of 1 in my 'career' so im somewhat of an expert, all the closed transfer keeoing O2 out is essential, but id also consider dipping your toes in the water treatment world.... even buy some mineral water from tesco, the extra silky mouthfeel when you get it right is totally worth it.
    Great vid as always mate. Cheers! 🎉

    Cracking beer Rick. I have been looking at buying one of those fermenters for a month or so. I thought it was possible to add hops from the bottom collection vessel but i am not sure?
    The wife brewed a NEIPA on Tuesday this week as I am not able to lift stuff yet. She used all South African hops so maybe it’s a SAIPA😂
    As usual the worry is putting the 150 gram dry hop in and transferring to the keg without getting the oxygen in.
