Checking out another Ayreon video this time around and I have to say.. it might be my favorite of the small amount that I've listened to so far.. and man that stage was FILLED with so many people.. and so much talent. 😱

You spoke the magic words at 4:38 "I feel like I need to watch this whole.. concert". Bingo! I can provide you with all the links you need. Get back to this. First off, Ayreon has been described as "space opera". The story spans multiple albums, created in abt two decades. Takes place in Arjen's (the composer/multi-instrumentalist) "Universe". Which is also the name of this legendary show from 2017, "Ayreon Universe Live". Kind of a "best of", with a stellar international cast (yep, Marko too; it's one big family basically with Arjen as the "pater familias").
So here's the deal: I'll make a community note abt this Universe Live 2017 concert (playlist on YT is complete for that concert btw) and the "Electric Castle Live and Other Tales" 2019 concert (playlists incomplete, will fill in the blanks with l!nks), with some basic info and the l!nks to all the songs, setlist order of course. Kind of like the way Gabriel has done with the NW related info. Is that a plan?
Loved this reaction of yours btw (Damian's smooth voice really took you by surprise, haha), and just a small fun fact to end with: Floor & Irene were one stage just this last Friday. We were the lucky ones to watch their wonderful on stage chemistry. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

A little FYI addendum for Nikki (if you read this): the community notes route wouldn't be necessary if the "full concert" playlist for the "Electric Castle Live" 2019 concert on YT were complete. Alas, it's not (the "Universe Live" playlist is complete tho). There's also no full video of the entire concerts, so a single session reaction tt whole thing is off, I reckon. Okay bear with me.
If you'd go through the Universe show one song at a time, you're bound to find out that some tracks are really short. Also, some songs are best viewed in combination as they appear on the setlist. Gives you a better feel for the entire story. That's where a community note may come in handy for info, song groupings and l!nks for the complete setlist. Cheers & enjoy the ride! 🤘

Hey Nikki, that tall guy next to Floor is Arjen Lucassen, the mastermaind of Ayreon, Electric Castle, Star One etc.
I bought the Ayreon Universe Live Blu Ray and was blown away how good this concert is. A totally epic masterpiece from start to finish.

Also the Electric Castle and other tales, 2019. BR Concert registration released Januari 2020. I am waiting for the registration of the 2023 concert, due early 2024.
I love this one so much! I always love when Floor and Irene sing together, but putting that aside, that chorus (?) they sing is so damn catchy. I find myself going back to it again and again. And that ending, with everyone on stage, is everything!
Irene never did anything with Nightwish, but she did make an appearance with Floor's first band, After Forever. Search for "Floor & Irene Jansen - Who I am live a P60, Netherlands (2007)". Great performance, from when both were very young, and Irene does a lot of her own vocals, so you can really hear her by herself.
Also, just a couple days ago, Floor performed in Amsterdam (not even two months after giving birth!), and Irene was there to perform a few songs with her. Only fan-recorded videos, but they're worth watching.

The whole show is incredible, this is actually the finale of it, hence all the singers and other musicians come together, and Arjen Lucassen himself is there too (he also participates in a couple of other songs)
Marko is also a guest singer in the show
Watching it from start to finish is great since you start discovering all the amazing people involved one by one and they each have their spotlight

Floor and Irene use to be Arjen angles in Star One. Floor continued forward with music while Irene took a step back to focus on her family. Arjen remembers everyone he works with and has no problem asking people back even after a long time away such as Irene. The first singer was Damien Wilson and has also worked with Arjen since the Star One age, you'll enjoy Druid turn to Stone, Twisted Coil and Intergalactic Space Crusaders that all feature Damien. Marko sings in songs such as River of Time and Collision.

Technically this is not Ayreon but Star One, which is one of Arjen’s side projects. Star One songs are all inspired by sci-fi movies. The Eye Of Ra is inspired by the movie Stargate. If you have watched this movie then you will understand what the lyrics are about.

The song is from the 1st album(Space Metal) of one of Arjen's other projects called Star One, each song is it's own story with a sci-fi theme. The last song of the concert , which is why everyone was on stage. Even Arjen came out.

Yep, now you have dived in Ayreon ! And there is a lot ! Every number better than the other ! Do Everybody Dies Live ! Every piece is a part of the overall story ! This was the closing act with all the artists.....
Irene recently joined Floor on stage for her return concert for two songs. As you looked at the line up Arjen was on Floor's right, very tall and thin, 6ft 8ins. Personally I enjoy his early concert Star One 2003 live with just Floor and Irene singing all the female parts.

The Album of this concert is one of the most listened to of my playlists and I’ve watched the whole concert on CZcams multiple times because it just makes me extremely happy to see al these wonderful musicians have such fun and there is not a “meh” song in it it’s all good 😊 ❤
5:40 The guy right next to Floor,is the "brains" behind these massive collaborations in music,he even has a song where he basically presents every artist he reached out to in text,and explains everything instrumentalists and himself are doing on the track,in abit of a nerdy and silly but informative way.

I remember you asking about who was the masterbrain between all these artists coming together was,as you didnt know. But yeah,thats the guy! 😎 Irene is very much alike Floor,they are simply different in haircolour. And yes,she has a gorgeous voice too,thats why she is a backup and like here,a fronted singer in these performances.

Hi Nikki 😃 I am your first commentor tonight!! Although this is included in an Ayron concert, it is in fact from another of Arjern Lucassen's musical projects called 'Star One'. All the songs are homages or have been inspired by Sci-FI films, TV shows or books. This particular song sung by English vocalist Damien Wilson is inspired by the movie (and subsequent Canadian TV show) called 'Stargate'. Irene is indeed Floor's sister and is pronounced Ee-Ray-Nuh. They both worked together on the Live Star One performance back in the early noughties. See ya! x

This song is a tribute to the "Stargate" movie 1994 (An interstellar teleportation device, found in Egypt, leads to a planet with humans resembling ancient Egyptians who worship the god Ra.).

The song "Intergalactic Space Crusaders" is such a 'catchy' tune! It doesn't feature Floor, but I think that Irene is in it and you will love the song 😁

While not a part of the Ayreon universe there are some songs from Arjen's other project "Star One" in this concert like this one, and those are inspired by TV shows and films. In this case it is inspired by the Film/TV series Stargate where the Egyptian gods are aliens from another world, and to open the Stargate you need 7 symbols which is the co-ordinates of the destination gate on another world.
Another Star One in this concert is "Intergalactic Space Crusaders" inspired by the 70's series Blakes 7.
Since you spotted Marko you should check out "Age of Shadows" to see his part.

The album this show comes from was based on the film/tv series 'Stargate'. Knowing this should help with the references in the songs.
you should go ahead and watch the whole thing, really. when each new singer comes in the name is displayed overhead so you know who they are. I've watched it several times and still can't get everyone's name right, lol. but beyond that, it is an amazing ride.

A good starting point with the Ayreon Projects is the album 01011001 or the DVD “The Electric Castle and other Tales Live” these are both full stories made up of songs mapping the survival of the human race escaping Planet Alpha - they’re addictive ❤️
