I know it’s all part of track in the end, but that guy really obstructed the record. Started with him pushing him into lane 2 and really finished last. Sad but he’ll do great things at ole miss

Yeah he could’ve at least let cade run inside instead of making a world class athlete run on the outside

Cade Flatt is an all-timer! But just how awesome was Michael Granville? 1:46.45 solo with no rabbits!

Amazing run all alone, but that was the top of his career. Flatt runs like 5 miles a week.

he ran in lane 2 for so long and passed ellis on the straight anyway, if he had just slotted in behind ellis at that second curve he probably would have the record

That Ellis would definitely have slowed down if Flatt had slotted in behind him. It’s like he was hell bent on obstructing the record attempt.

Ellis 100% obstructed the record. He had no reason to make Flatt run wide lap 1.

Exactly True! Cade Flatt was running outside of Ellis too long. The record would have been gone.

you gotta remember that this was also the championship heat of nationals. It wasn't all about Cade Flatt, there were other runners in the race who were trying to compete.

i raced here for the 2023 nationals. lanes 1 2 and 3 are less than 400 and events that use those lanes athletes start behind the normal starting line.

I wouldn't have considered ot a record if he had broken it because he had a pace setter. When the record was set, the guy went for beginning to end all by himself in the race.

Believe it or not, breaking records as a young athlete is not always a good thing. The holder of the record he is trying to break never improved on his time in college.

He had every right to be angry. The guy that made him run in lane 2 had no business being close to him. He came in dead last and kept him from breaking the record in the process. I would’ve been just as furious.
