    I feel like the hyperacusis is something more common when tinnitus first starts because your brain is over stimulated. For me it was bad like Loretta, but it resolved within two months and the tinnitus took a little longer. I somehow managed to bring my tinnitus from around 4-5 down to a 2 within 4 months by myself. I’m definitely at the point where I no longer think about it and only hear it at night in a quiet room (before I put on noise machine). When it first began I didn’t sleep the first two month because it was so loud even with masking. I’m relaying my story to help people have hope for recovery.

      Please share your recovery tips! My hyperacusis was triggered purely from the persistent health anxiety i was facing due to another health condition (prostatitis). Which also is pointed towards stress/anxiety. I am constantly focusing on noise desensitisation, determined to recover as i am 32 getting married soon! I have to beat this and i have a life to live. Any tips would be appreciated🙏🏽. I feel the symptoms significantly fall when i am on benzo’s which is a sign its all anxiety related?

    I remember when i first got tinnitus my heating was sensitive to some degree, but my anxiety and panic attacks were arguably worse, seeing these people with extreme cases and thinking i would get to the point where i wouldn’t be able to hear anything but ringing by age 20, because of the things I’ve read and seen related to tinnitus, and i broke down a couple times. It’s gotten manageable and it hardly bothers me anymore, but I’ll be so ready for the day that tinnitus has good affordable treatments in the US

    My tinnitus and hyperacusis (plus vertigo) came on 2 days after booster vax. At first if I went out say past a hedge full of sparrows the sound was so loud and I could still hear it two streets away! Gradually over about 2 months after seeing your videos I tell myself that it wont harm me and now (6 months later) much better. The TV is sometimes too loud when womens voices are on but I wear cotton wool/ear plugs etc. and I can cope. I now love going to restaurants and can sit in garden when neighbours are using their mowers and strimmers. So grateful to you for your continued support.

    Thanks for the hope. I must have hyperacusis severe in my right ear (my left ear is normal). When anyone would talk the sound would be like an echo chamber and this tingling sensation. I know how I got this. I would play the synthesizer with headphones and like the piano the high pitch is on the right side going up the keyboard, what the right headphone hears in stereo. Then to make things worse, I would play harmonics on the fretless bass and that took me over the threshold of no return, if you will... I broke something in the ear for sure not bouncing back. I live near Duke University hospital and hope there is someone in this area that knows enough about hyperacusis. I want to be so careful not to get treatment by the inexperienced and make my situation worse. Thanks again.

      @tperelli4271 Před 11 měsíci

      The good news, at least for me, is that after a month the echo and tingling went completely away. My sensitivity has improved as well because I purchased these great ear plugs (Minuendo Lossless Earplugs for $140) and worth every penny. A great tool because it cuts out the high frequency which was my problem do to high pitch damage from musical instruments as mentioned. I'm still very sensitive to the clanking of dishes, dog barking, text bells, etc. but can deal with that. In fact, the plugs have this great feature where you can use them throughout the day and adjust a sensitivity level such as if they aren't even in your ear. Hope this helps.

    Can the pain caused by hyperacusis permanently damage my ears?

    • @cheerbeerification
      @cheerbeerification Před rokem +3

      The pain is likely due to an overused muscle in the middle ear that's getting activated due to the Hyperacusis causing your brain to perceive sounds as dangerously loud. It's a reflex everyone has, but doesn't usually get activated until really loud sounds (120db) happen. In Hyperacusis, it can happen many many many times a day at much lower volumes. The muscle gets tired due to overuse, and then it's painful. As with any overuse injury, rest can lead to healing. It's a tricky thing to balance, because you'll want to use hearing protection to allow this muscle some rest, but overprotecting will make Hyperacusis worse which then will trigger that muscle at lower volumes. The only hope is to slowly accustom yourself to sounds through gradual exposure. Meditation and CBT therapy can help you through this, but I don't believe there is permanent damage happening.

      @@cheerbeerification Thanks for the info. Somewhere along the line I got a bit of Hyperacusis mixed in with my tinnitus, and it's been worse than the tinnitus (That I assume is) causing it. The tinnitus has lessened at points, but that's only ever with week(s) of next to no loud noise exposure.
      Certain sounds also bother my ears a bit(Sounds that didn't before), like the low hum of most household electronics, or the weird static-like sound that you can probably hear in most videos recorded long ago; broken car breaks have been the worst offender in terms of high-pitched pain for me.
      I've also had an MRI since writing that comment and nothing out of the ordinary had been seen. There was mention of some kind of mucus retention cyst, but that apparently wasn't anything note-worthy.

      We use white noise, pink noise, and brown noise for hyperacusis. Everyone is individual with what their ears respond to, so we experiment with all and use whatever is most effective.

    I've got a weird type of tinnitus ( a deep vibrating tone) and hypercusis. I was given sound therapy ( a white noise in my hearing aid) but due to the hypercusy it's unbearable. I don't know what to do anymore as I cannot bear sound therapy.

    It's been 4 years I have hyperacusis, it's still getting worse and worse... I always tried to go out with protection but some case cant be treated, I think it's important to mention this because my doctor told me to continue to go out but it was a bad advice. I'm right now trying to have a lot of silence for healing this but not sure if it would be better

    • @cheerbeerification
      @cheerbeerification Před rokem +9

      The problem is that you are overprotecting with earplugs. A person without tinnitus and hearing loss can give themselves Hyperacusis by using earplugs 24-7. The brain compensates not being able to hear as well by turning the gain up. Hyperacusis will not heal with silence. Best thing to do is slowly expose yourself gradually louder and louder sounds. If you are dependent on earplugs, gradually reduce the npr until you can get through life without them. There are also earmuff ear protectors that have microphones and speakers that allow you to gradually turn up the volume. I used these with great success. I still have Hyperacusis, but I have completely weaned myself off of hearing protection and sound generators. It has taken years to get where I am at, but the only way I was able to get here was when I realized the behavior I was engaged in was making it worse. If you stay home all day and wear hearing protection when you are out, it'll just get worse and worse. The brain needs to hear those noises to normalize them.

    How much time I have to listen to pink noise

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  Před rokem

      The duration of sound therapy for tinnitus can vary depending on the individual and the severity of their tinnitus. Some people may find relief from tinnitus symptoms after just a few sessions of sound therapy, while others may need to continue the therapy for a longer period of time to achieve significant improvement.
      The length of treatment can also depend on the type of sound therapy being used. For example, if a person is using a sound machine or white noise generator to help them sleep at night, they may continue to use the device as long as it remains helpful.
      If you start to experience worsening of your tinnitus, try switching sounds. For instance, going from cricket sounds to pink noise. Hope this helps!
