Depending on which table you read our starting pack weight in total was 4 kilos less than the africans. Our 5 forward replacements matched to their equivalents actually weighed 10k more. ( mostly down to one T. Willliams).

No side can lose players like McCaw and 'the others' and not be seriously compromised. Transition from then to now takes several years, not several months. The Mc Caw glory days came at a price. Some great followers were held back at the expense of it. Many became disillusioned and went off-shore. To make real champions, you must be prepared to go the hard yards, and to take some good hidings. Fozz was left in a pretty shit place after Shag and his heroes retired. He's been to those hard places and won through. Respect to him.

I agree to a greater extent, our tactics of not kicking away possession nullified the Springboks lineout options,, again a very encouraging performance, One that doesn't make us become one eyed, but appreciative of the whole coaching team and the confidence that's becoming infectious in this All Black squad.i have always been a fan of Beaudene and the double role play with Richie was superb..I would like to see the same confidence in Shannon, Will , Damian, Scott happening with Rieko and Caleb

It was a fantastic match and a great result for the ABs. I think congratulations are in order because they played very well for most of the game and they were the better team.
I think it’s also worth saying that they backed up an excellent performance in Argentina with one at home.
I think the All Blacks would also be really pleased with how Shannon Frizzell came through this game because depth at 6 has been concern since Jerome Kaino last played.
I think if we look at it objectively too we can probably also agree that the Springbok plan of sending players ahead to NZ largely backfired. Most of the players who went ahead looked undercooked and took a while to get into the game. They might have been better off having played some more rugby the previous week. That’s said you have to give the points to the ABs management this week.
However, the margins at this level is small. It’s good to see the ABs are on the right trajectory and looking good come World Cup time. The only disappointment is that world rugby didn’t produce a better draw for the tournament.

Nice to hear Mexted sound a wee bit less dour. The glory days of McCaw's ABs came at a stiff price. Transitioning from their roost ruling, for so long, was bound to cause huge set-backs. Glory at all costs is fine, until you empty the tank, only to discover some of the best followers have gone off-shore because their aspirations of being ABs was nullified. Transitioning from those times was always going to take years, instead of months. Glory makes fans fickle, because they need their fix. No fix = big rattle... Fozz had plenty to fix. Looks to me like he has the right coaches on-board, and some bloody good men to give New Zealanders what they crave; their glory fix. Bloody well done Fozz& Co. Bloody well done Samuel Cane and your 2023 All Blacks...from a old bugger Irish supporter.
