- Lisa Gade reviews the Dell Latitude 7220 Rugged Extreme tablet, an 11.6” Windows tablet with detachable keyboard that’s designed to take a beating and a spray of water without failing. It also handles high heat thanks to robust cooling and it has a 1,000 nit matte display with polarizer for outdoor viewing. The tablet has a touch screen and supports the $60 Dell Active rugged pen that uses N-Trig technology like Surface Pro. The Dell has Intel quad core CPUs, an NVMe M.2 SSD, Wi-Fi 6, optional 4G LTE, USB-C and a variety of biometrics and security features. Like the Panasonic Toughbook and Symbol computers, it’s designed for vertical market use, from service technicians to oil and gas workers and the military.

Looks like something you'd use to call in a kill streak in Call of Duty
That’s awesome I work in product development for devices used in oil and gas and other hazardous locations. The way you have to construct it, the materials, and certification process are what adds cost. It’s a cool device thanks for the review!
I've been using this unit at work for the past several months, and your review is pretty spot on.
Had their toughbook several years ago, they know what they’re doing.
Just bought one used for $700 but it’s practically brand new. Included the keyboard and dock too so I couldn’t pass it up. Great deal. I work in engineering and needed a windows based tablet that can get knocked around and when I’m outside in the cold and rain doing survey work. It’s a bit heavy but that’s the trade-off. A shoulder strap definitely helps with this.

I use the first version 7202 and it's great. I leave it outdoors during winter to control my telescopes. (-20 Celius and below at times). Cold, moisture, these things keeps on working. The screen never freezes or slows down, batteries last 3+ hours, and dew/condensation does nothing to it. After I use this for a session, it's always dripping with condensation. And the trackpad is designed to be used with gloves. Put some gloves on and the trackpad works and feels like it's supposed to, I do it all the time outdoors. Great units, and yes specialized use cases, not a daily driver.
Love how how it looks. Great video!
I used one of these at work. It's really heavy and it hurts your shoulders if you need it to take pictures for a produce inspection. The good thing about it is you can plug in a USB keyboard and mouse. Don't like to bring it home if I don't need to because it is so heavy.
This channel deserves a million subscribers..
I too judge an object's sturdiness on my ability to fight off an intruder with it.
Do you live in Brazil? Lol
Unironically
thank you for reviewing nonr mainstream stuff.
Thanks for showing us the guts. Sad to see ram is not upgradable. Love the vids, stay safe
You're the sweetest of all the reviewer।
When you opened the tablet, that really hit it home for me ✅
Nice to see that the SSD is swapable. So one can order the smallest SSD and swap it for the biggest one can find...
Subscribed.. great review
Love your unbiased and detailed reviews which keep the end user in mind. Could you please review Asus ExpertBook B9450? Thank you in advance.❤️
Thank you! Love you.
Very nice review.
Obviously not meant for the general public. But for those working in construction sites and outdoors it could really prove to be a valuable product.
Imagine bringing iPad to construction site🤣
@@leech1108 usually people did that with the bulky case
@@Banom7a say it to those ppl.. i don't care.
I was watching Homeland the other day and saw Carrie whip out a MacBook in the field, that was on the verge of what my suspension of disbelief could manage. THIS however would have been a credible choice for a field agent in my mind 😎
I just Love Lisa and her FUNKY Shirts, this one is no exception.... I can imagine what her closet looks like.. lol
"It's even rugger" I love her.
Could have just made it a bit thicker and integrated the charger in body itself.
Good point.
High voltage in a splashable device... perhaps better not.

This thing is 100% the heartbeat sensor from Call of Duty.
Finally I can smack my staff with this.
Very interesting product!
Watching your reviews is always so bittersweet. I can't afford any of this lol 😭
For the situations When you’ve accidentally left your tablet on pile of C4 🤔
Great for mechanics, construction, police, and people working in Oil Rigs.
Or kids who break stuff
Would it be good for automotive diagnostic use?
@@mojojojo1791 Yes if you want to spend that much money for a new unit.
Great review as always! I can't find this information anywhere: can the hard drive or RAM be upgraded? Thanks!
Explosion proof means it won't make a spark if you drop/hit the case with something metal. I think it also means it won't be an ignition source in an environment with explosive or flammable gasses.
LISA HOW DID YOU KNOW I LIKE FUN , EDUCATIONAL AND DIFFERENT VERY INSIGHTFUL OF YOU IT'S ALMOST LIKE YOU TRULY KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE... WELL OF COURSE LISA DO FORGIVE ME . AGAIN I MUST SAY I FIND YOUR PRODUCT PRESENTATIONS VERY WARM AND INVITING PLEASE LET THERE BE MORE STAY SAFE .
I'm setting up one now and had to look it up lol. It has a a 4c/8t i7 8665U, 16GB, and this one has a 2TB Samsung PM9A1 NVMe?! I've had thousands of laptops/tablets/desktops pass through my hands and this thing stands out. First round of updates including firmware, I click and it's like it finished already lol.
Perfect for my inevitable missions to save the world.
Amen
😂
😂
Good for my military use!
There is no group of people on the internet like the Lisa Gade fan club. Never change! (you too, Lisa!)
The keyboard also has 2 or 3 different back light colors if you hit the windows key (maybe function) and space i think.
Would this be good for automotive diagnostics use ? Like running programs and tuning for example
I just saw these on ebay for pretty cheap and I want one to run Linux and use it as a more portable device to work on my projects on the go or even use it as an ereader or something like that without concern about it breaking as easily. It seems perfect for my use case and this toy makes me so excited. It is such a cool device.
That was really cool
I love this thing
Although it is shower proof, does the touchscreen perform well when wet? At work I have a Getac rugged tablet and although entirely waterproof, the screen is unusable once wet. Utterly useless in Scotland when it rains so frequently in the field.
Her T-Shirt game is on point!!!
Great item. Resolution is kind of annoying but its good. Programmable buttons work per user so it is not great for when multiple people it in a fleet scenario. Also, the Havis dock sucks. Have had lots of trouble with them.
This actually looks Interesting to have...
Holy shit, that interior is the most “rat’s nest” laptop interior I’ve seen in years!
That is one cool tablet.
Have a good day everyone!
I'm actually using the previous gen, 7212 Rugged Extreme, and I bought it on eBay for *MUCH* less - *including* the keyboard and I/O attachment. It's essential for my work and I'm even able to game on it haha (no 1080p 60fps, sorry). Great review btw!
Intel graphics chip, 20 fps.
Hi Lisa. My wife and I are waving to you from Bulgaria. You should come over and get drunk with us and talk computers and cats.
Lisa, when are we going to see the Spectre x360 15" for 2020???
It’s not even officially released or for sale anywhere yet
I like it... Would like it to have a trackpoint (yes I'm a ThinkPad fanatic). Also would love to see Ubuntu/Mint on it... Can't do important field work with Windows suddenly deciding to feature update itself (with uncertain results).
I think it comes with windows 10 pro, and you can control the updates on it.
I've still got my Lattitude XT2, and its survived everything, haha
Lisa I wish you were my cool tech aunt like literally. U are awesome 😎
Coolest reviwer on the planet :)
Where is your coverage of the Asus Zephyrus G14!?
privacy or, maybemore useful, camera scratch protection for harsh environments.
GOOD Vid THUMP up.
It would have really been nice if you would have taken it outside in sunlight and compared it to an iPad or something similar to demonstrate the how well the screen works in sunlight.
Just here bec of Lisa’s shirt
Lisa's fashionista is top notch 👍
Lisa should describe the objects in her closet . 😆
Dear, one question!! REALLY IMPORTANT. In the EX EXTREME VERSION, which is explosion proof. How is the digital pen compared to this model? I need this EX version for signatures on site... offshore.
I need a quality phone made like that
Nintendo switch goes to the gym oh my. hahaha
Lol Virgin
I’ll stick to my regular tablet with otter box case, it lasted through a few deployments and held up better than I did through an ied blast. iPad 2 and still going strong, just a little slow
haha and how to connect some usb stuff to in your case? well...
You must be a real man. IED eh?
It's CHONKEYYY
John3.14 that’s what she said
This is a very good tablet I want to order and how much is it
Do you know what is the cellular network requirements for this device?
Nice
Could you review the g14 from Asus?
What a tank
That’s quite a chunker !!!
It's called, "THICC" get it right lol
Does it have a sim slot? For 4G internet?
Can the USB C be used to print?
Cool
Is this rugged tablet can buy everyone?
The t-shirt says 00457637. Interesting. But what does it mean? 🤔
I've got the EX version. None of the accessories connect with it.
Lisa, why are Hard drive still same price as 3 years ago?
business
they cost money to make. at some point ssds can get cheaper than them, then they'll replace hard drives, until then hard drives are still good for mass storage
A tablet a day keeps the doctor away!
How much cost bro
OK Pause! 'Explosion proof'?! 'Explosive Environment'?!! That made me laugh!
350$ accessory! :(
Same price as that new iPad Pro keyboard that's coming in May :).
@@mobiletechreview that's steep.. but I am sure this one is worth the price.. 👍 and looking forward to the floating feature of the ipad keyboard !
I need this to survive a zombie apocalypse.
Still uses Intel Chips its just a sad joke at this point.....
Great vid tho Lisa watch the bad ones just cause your such a great host. KEEP IT UP!!
Will Windows 11 work on this?
it should
looks like a switch in military version
That’s neat. Thankfully, I don’t need one.
We want asus zephyrus review
but now military goes to use for RDC from “persistence system”
Has anyone tried Linux on this machine? It would be very interesting to see if it works on Debian or derivatives.
Works fine. I've run Mint and Batocera via usb stick.
For when you want to be a more tech savvy Captain America
A bit pricy but still better than that ever thinner, non servicable ultrabook consumer bullshit.
No thunderbolt? :O o.O
1.30 ever heard of a weighing scale.?
Look at all those ports! That's more than most modern (Apple) laptops XD
But can it run Linux
😎😎😎
She think's my tablet is sexy! lol..
RS-232!! I haven't seen that in 33 years!! Who is still using that??! Is it copatible with the Z-80?
There are lots of machines and devices out there that still work perfectly well that only have that interface. And for some of them, nothing has been made since, so they are the only option. Others are just too expensive to be worth upgrading.
That and there is, as far as I know, no other common connector that has the physical protection from being removed that the screws of Rs-232 has.
I can take this and first thing what i do, is installing linux to it. I want be sure that this kind of computer, its data is safe with it, without any "do you want use cloud?" integration.
It's actually available with no OS for folks who want to install Linux instead.
the only thing that could destroy this tablet is BSOD.
