The watcher sounded like he was reading a script or a book and realizing along the way that he is actually apart of the book. Kinda like the never ending story, when there is a realization that you are in the story.

Technically there is a reason why the mind stone is in the big hole of the gauntlet. Also thanos got caught offguard far too fast
When the watcher realized that Ultron can sense him, he says “He became aware of the…” I believe that he was going to say “The watcher,” as in himself. It’s almost like he was reading from a script or book/comic
I've been waiting for someone else to notice this, it's like he knows the story inside out but didn't realise how it affected him until it happened, which is why he can narrate it but still be surprised.

Yeah, I’m assuming Thanos had only just collected the stones and hadn’t seen much resistance yet, so he still assumed he could take on any threat with his bare hands (and stones as backup).
Amazing what can happen to an important character when plot armor is stripped away!
Not to worry I'm like 97% sure we'll be getting ultron vs zombie Thanos which is part of the reason they elected to kill off this Thanos so early XP 2 Thanos v Ultron fights in a row would be a bit repetitive

I always felt weird whenever heroes/villians wait for their opponents to give a speech or showoff. That's a reason why Ultron killing Thanos felt so satisfying.
Thanos did not even get to take a breath before he split. It happened so fast i could not react. Then i just busted a laugh

I perceived this whole “What If…” series as a bunch of one off stories. Now I am seeing that there is much more to this.
Big mistake. We all knew continuity was coming.
How does this have so many likes? 😂all these people just binge watch all the episodes last night? Everyone knew these weren’t 100% independent stories since like episode 2
Its all going end next week with "What if... the watcher intervenes." And this entire series is the story of how Uatu was thrown out of the guild of watchers.
But it also is suggesting that there is an infinity amount of multiverses. ITS TRUTLES ARE THE WAY DOWN BABY.

Tony wasn't looking for Ultron when he went to the NEXUS Hub. He went there to find out who their ally was that was stopping Ultron from getting the codes. That's why he makes a joke about decrypting nuclear codes because he knows whoever this ally is, they don't want Ultron or Tony getting the codes. He attempt to decrypts them to get their attention, which is how he found the still alive, base programming of Jarvis to put into Vision.

We see Ultron seeing The Watcher, who talks to us, and it's like "ummm, shit, is he gonna' come for us next?"
It's pretty though funny to see The Watcher have a more 'human,' less unfazable-cosmic-being reaction to something. "What the hell was that!?" And I swear I heard an "eep!" 😄

I think it was more that he knew that the Watcher would only return there if he needed his help. He may not have known what the specific problem was, but he knew the Watcher was being pushed to breaking

Tony was not trying to track Ultron at Nexus Oslo. He was hoping to bait their “ally” (Jarvis) who was protecting nuclear codes. Hence he says “I’m decrypting nuclear codes and you don’t want me to”
Ultron is just a terrifying villain. What he can do if Wanda didn’t have a change of heart is deadly. He can probably take on celestial beings like the eternals by now.

I think when Uato speaks in past tense saying "We've seen this before..." or "But this one really breaks my heart" is to artistically convey that he exists outside the human concept of time.
he was referring to episode 4 with we've seen this before. The second sentence was confined only till vision destroying universe but uato did not expect vision to get the amount of conscience that he would discover of uato
I also think it is the same Watcher not a different one. It would not make sense.

I love the explanation in which The Watcher’s time works… I was so confused at the start of this episode but then I realised myself that Uatu can view any moment in the multiverse that he desires so it was “Ultra-Vision” invading Party Thor’s timeline that made him observe the timeline in which “Ultra-Vision” was “born”

Another little parallel: Zola greeting Clint and Nat by their full names not only calls back to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but to the Red Skull calling them by their full names on Vormir as well, mirroring the sacrifice that happens later.

So if these stories are actually canon to the MCU, what if the nexus level event Kang sensed was actually this Ultron learning of the multiverse? That would be so sick.
Okay that’s dope bc it’s been pointed out that Kang sensed the universe going past the point happened simultaneously in its’ runtime as Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch.
Which means Loki and WandaVision happened at the same time. As did What If, but this time we get a little glimpse into the universes collapsing. Beyond the allusion we got in WV and the branches we saw in Loki.

I’m wondering if in No Way Home, they try to go back to the snap so the multiverse hopefully breaks around the time the rest of the series happens.
Sounds like Uato isn't monologuing so much as reading the sort of exposition blurbs that comics use so much, cause it looks like he's more reading "He's becoming aware of another. He became aware of the-" and stops in surprise as he realizes he's about to talk about himself. Plus it would fit in to the whole 'comic book reading' allegory. Not sure how much different it'd be from just monologuing but it makes it a fun idea that it isn't purely his being a blabbermouth but just him reading out loud.

During the scene where Hawkeye sacrifices himself, you can see nat kneel down almost the exact same way Clint did in endgame. Also when ultron try to Crack open the watchers head, it looks like the scene where Thanos cracks open ultras head.

yeah, 2 blinks in quick succession is a crazy amount more than 0 blinks for 6 episodes
Also noticed how when clint sacrifices himself, he's holding the bow with his machine arm n drawing the string with his human arm instead of how he'd been wielding his bow the other way throughout the episode.

This episode singlehanded redeemed Ultron and made him into a terrifying villain that he is in the comics.

I think the watcher has seen like the "Sacred timeline" for each universe and so when he speaks, he speaks at the time of the event happening but then sometimes a branch occurs and catches him off guard.
I heard that Infinity Stones lose their powers outside of their own universe, but the MCU stones seemed to just reduce their usefulness to energy blasts. So they seem more powerful than other stones.
The reason ultron used nukes this time around was because that was always his original plan but Jarvis kept changing the launch codes

What if Nebula was the daughter Thanos loved in this universe which is why we see Gamora alive. Thanos sacrificed Nebula in order to obtain the soul stone.

Well the thing is in the comics all the things the Watchers see are kept in their eyes. When someone takes their eyes they also take the information. So when he narrates it is to the audience, but an audience for other watchers

I think it would have been just a little more believable, Ultron killing Thanos, if Ultron had shot the beam directly at Thanoss brain and sliced him downward. Plus it would align with Infinity War when he says, " You should've gone for the head!"

this multi verse stuff is actually becoming more and more interesting throughout these episodes, it basically gives them free reign to use whatever form of marvel character they want and pair them up with another totally different superhero from a whole other universe
It becomes a mess after a while. It's interesting here and there, but after a while it loses its luster for me.
The perfect opportunity to incorporate whatever characters they want from other studios Marvel properties. I mean, the original multiverse was a reset of Marvel's main lineup...
this series would have to be called: "What if Tony Stark died in each universe?"

Also when ultron says “I’ll find you” the entire crystal hallway grows green cuz he’s using the time stone, and then when he charges the watcher it glows red with the reality stone when he’s changing the universes
The Watcher is genuinely surprised.
Up until "now" the multiverse was tightly controlled by He Who Remains and there were specific multiverses that formed the sacred timeline.
This is why he says that he has seen it all. This is something that was never experienced before because it got pruned by the TVA.
Yes, it makes sense. He Who Remains' control made a non-dangerous multiverse, but "now" that he's not there it's normal Uatu got surprised. Btw, idk how much Ultron will affect to the MCU, cause even if HWR doesn't exist anymore, there is a TVA yet, but we don't know if it still pruns timelines.
But the Watcher must have seen the multiversal war between all of the Kangs prior to He Who Remains reign. That must have been something on the level of this.

I like to think that Thanos sacrificed Ebony Maw for the Soul Stone. They seemed to have a very close relationship and Maw would’ve been far more willing than Gamora.

I think if you look at the multiversal timeline as something nonlinear, the watcher being seen by ultron happens for the watcher after invading party thor land, but for ultron before the invasion, The watcher seeing the invasion prompts him to look at the story of where he came from, and is startled to realize the origin of the infinity ultron. Kind of like a grandfather paradox situation

It's also important to note, the mind stone in Vision's head was slightly disconnected due to Shuri trying to remove it so Vision wasn't at full strength when Thanos arrived in Infinity War/

All the things Ultron did with the stones just shows how humble Thanos was with the snap. Didnt abuse them more than what he intended, and destroyed them when he finished

One thing I thought was interesting about Strange's line about breaking oaths is that Strange broke his oath to do no harm when he devoured all of the extraplanar beings. And Strange broke his oath for the Heart he lost in Christine and Uatu said this story breaks his Heart (foreshadowing that he'll break his oath not to interfere but in the same way that strange failed Uatu won't be able to repair the multiverse).

I think it’s interesting that the spaces between universes, like the Watchers “observatory” and Dark Strange’s “final orb” are very reminiscent of the hexagonal shapes that formed Wanda’s hex zone in WandaVision. I know the shapes are meant to reflect “hex,” but it is interesting that these “pocket spaces” within (or just outside) existing universes take a similar form (and even some color… reds and purples). Could be some connective tissue there, albeit small. With so many subtle elements injected it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that it is an intentional design style. In fact, if true, it could make sense as to why “a” Doctor Strange eventually reaches out to Wanda (in the upcoming Multiverse of Madness), perhaps because that version has made a similar, catastrophic error out of grief and loss.

Honestly? At this point I'd feel like it would behoove Kang himself to intervene. I can't imagine he's too pleased with the idea of an insane robot destroying everything he's conquered.

I'm still shaken from watching this episode. Ultron hearing The Watcher made my heart sank. OMG
The knife portion of this video reminded me VERY much of “Inside” by Bo Burnham.
That moment in which the Watcher is shocked by Ultron hearing him makes me think: Can The Watcher control his monologuing? Like, it seems that he doesn't know what he going to say till he says it. It's almost more like he's live reporting with a psychic teleprompter in his head. Either way, I don't think he noticed Ultron hearing him (cause he REALLY shouldn't be able to) or/nor could he know till he narrated it.
That whole “it’s right there” by the Watcher had me cracking up…lol
When someone goes to the cinema for the first time in their life, and starts giving notices to the character.
In the beginning of the episode, in the intro, where he says “I am the watcher,” his once white outline, it’s now somewhat brown.

The watchers narration is just like Dr. Manhattan's in the watchman comics and again in the watchman D.C comics cross over . He can see that it happens but is still suppressed in real time, very meta
