    This is the best AR in the market right now. The trigger is BUTTER, the receiver is so firm, the barrel is accurate as heck, every little bit of machining on this thing is just *chefs kiss*, I can't say anything bad about it. It also doesn't hurt that they look so damn good. When you consider how much innovation you're getting with this rifle, the price seems like a darn good deal. I love mine to bits.

      @patriotgunner Před 7 měsíci

      You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Best AR on the market? This gun/brand is way too new to be making statements like that. My PWS, Knights Armament, POF and LMT beg to differ. Don't just drink the cool-aid as soon as somebody comes out with a couple new features. Yeah it might have less barrel harmonics that might translate to a tad more accuracy, maybe but at the end of the day it's another direct impingement AR15. Albeit a high end AR sure I'll agree to that and I'm sure it's really nice and possibly great but "THE BEST"?? Way too early to make those claims and have you bought and tried every single high end AR15 on the market?? I doubt it...Just because it has a few new features that nobody else has doesn't mean anything because there are a lot of brands that have nice features that the Blackout rifle doesn't have also. Like the enhanced bolt that Knights is known for. The heat sink barrel nut that POF has and also their E2 chamber and roller cam pin then PWS has a collar jam nut to attach the gas block that's awesome.. So you see I could go on and on and on about awesome features that companies have that other companies don't have. Anyways I've made my point, no offense and I'm glad you really like your rifle but it's hard to say any 1 brand out there is "The Best"..

    Here is some background on Blackout Defense from their website in their own words...Aerospace and defense. That is where we started. A lot of shops say that, but few mean it. Boeing, Raytheon, Honeywell-these were our customers. AH-64 Apache, Bradley Infantry, ICBM Payload-these were our projects. We have not lost sight of our history, and in fact, continue some of these projects to this day. Yet when we turn our attention to our own design and engineering, we bring the same manufacturing acumen and meticulous quality that earned us success in that demanding industry.

      @keithmoore8777 Před 2 lety +7

      Military grade provides what is needed for the job. Most of these fancy items are great but are tailored for 3 gun and other shooting competitions. It's also a matter of cost and what the soldiers get for the price I don't think a 28% reduction in barrel harmonics is worth the cost. I would say it is when talking about precision weapons but not for M4's and the M4's job.

      That requires a match barrel with repeatable harmonics and good bullets. People are stuck in thinking a free floating barrel that whips all over the place unimpeded is the best solution for accuracy as long as what whipping is relatively consistent and predictable. It's not. While the claims of this barrel and mounting system need to be tested, properly reducing harmonics, barrel whip and controlling it further, if not deadening harmonics, will result in greater repeatable precision. It also has the potential reduce recoil and heat.

      @@XDWX free floating a barrel already addresses the harmonics issue, which is why people when they buy a stock Remington 700, they get a better chassis, because the stock chassis flexes and touches the barrel when loaded causing INCONSISTENT harmonics. As long as nothing else is touching the barrel and its torqued down right, harmonics is not an issue to a freefloated barrel.

      Some people buy a good quality $350 AR, others build one for less. Then there are even some high spenders pushing past the $500 mark, and others yet spending more than some people's rifle on just some carbon fiber bits, or sometimes several thousand dollars on just a carbon fiber barrel. Price segments, this won't be a poverty pony, but it probably won't top the charts either.

      Granted I don't see why anyone would be using .223 for accuracy when things like .224 Valkyrie or 6.5 Grendel exist. So probably be more popular in those calibers eventually.

    Neat idea... looks quite heavy. It's pretty well known that heavy barrels have better harmonics vs thin barrels so... Making a heavy barrel heavier with an extra chonky double barrel nut and saying it reduces harmonics is kind of a "well duh" moment. The whole "our grooves eliminates deflection caused by heat" seems dubious as well. The proof will be in a head to head with other traditional high quality barrels.

    • @thomasash1247
      @thomasash1247 Před 2 lety

      Thermal expansion grooves or heat expansion cuts on the OD of high speed bearings are effective way of interrupting bearing growth. That design helped us to improve barrel thermal growth in many variations. It’s minor but still there (I copied this from my other post). Respond to yours Brad: we only added 3.5oz and goal is to keep the barrel under 26oz.

    • @justinbenjamin4651
      @justinbenjamin4651 Před 2 lety

      I wouldnt say heavy barrels have better harmonics, they have different harmonics. For someone hand loading for extreme accuracy at a given distance a thinner longer barrel with "worse" harmonics is actually better because the frequency of barrel vibrations will be lower giving you a larger sweet spot in the cycle. If you can time the bullet leaving the barrel on the upsweep you will end up with a lot better vertical dispersion at distance inspite of muzzle velocity

    60 deg taper will not align. It's a tight wedge. Any machinist knows that. You need 10deg or less to aline for parallel.

    • @thomasash1247
      @thomasash1247 Před 2 lety +1

      That is incorrect buddy. 60 degree is the start of the taper but lands on 18.5 degrees for alignment. Please take a look at CAT40 print and the retention knob taper. Both are 60 degree to 18.26 degree taper.

      That's what the conical section is for, is to align and center the barrel. If you over-constrain the dimensions or have inadequate tolerances then the system becomes less effective. You're probably needs to align and index off the old region to center, but its no longer the case with it now centering primarily off that chamfer.
