- I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS FISH SPECIES before!! Help me identify this .fish in the comments below please guys! The black blue and yellow striped fish that changed to TOTALLY light yellow with thin blueish stripes when put into the white bucket! TARGET SPECIES: Orange River Chickens!

Years ago fish like that would cost a lot of money. I can't believe the nice fish you guys are catching. I love having fish tanks but I ended up disabled and can't take care of them. Its channels like this I enjoy watching. Thank you.
Not 100% sure but usually when fish are stressed (such as being in a different container) they will lose some color. This is just from my knowledge though.
Harpo 225 Absolutely right. Most fish from what I've seen seem to darken when stressed. I worked in a tropical fish/coral reef store for a bit, and lots of fish like yellow tangs and foxface will turn dark when stressed

All fish change colors when there stressed they turn a lighter color
Some just more then others
They also change color from lack of oxygen. In a small bucket with other fish they tend to lose there color. This happens when I go trout fishing. We just put them in a bucket and after awhile their color fades.
nah mate just as the fish came out it got yellow stripes.
and you can see when its just first up there is only a faint yellow stripe then it gets incredibly visible.

these aren't native fish to Florida's ponds n streams,their flower horn ciclide, somebody's aquarium pets that's been dumped in I'm pretty sure that they come from Africa or Asia, maybe so.america, at that size their worth in the range of up to around a 100$ a piece
The hump can get huge! Flowerhorns can get pretty big too. They'll do well in your whale tank. They can be mean and hold their own.

Fish colors change for a multitude of reasons. stress, breeding, water quality, temperature, amount of daylight etc. There are also tons of species of cichlids; which are constantly crossbreeding with each other producing new species of fish all the time.
On my bucket list is fishing fresh and saltwater in South Florida..... Everglades, and fort Lauderdale

So would have been a good idea to put all of them in the cooler. Therefore after examining now you could have got him another home and you would have had a bunch of different kinds. my thing is you should have kept every last one of them and compare them every last one of them had a beautiful color.

the fish you said you never saw is called Ninety Nine Chiclid, it has it names from its 9 black stripes on both sides of its body, as the yellow, red and black Chiclids, all three are the same, they are Midas Chiclid (Chiclasoma Citrinellus / Amphilopus Citrinellus) or Red Devil Chiclid (Chiclasoma Labiatus / Amphilopus Labiatus)
