In recent years there has been a decline in the number of talented opponents in test cricket maybe because of the preoccupation with t20 cricket. The Australian team lacks talent in quite a few positions to be honest but they are good enough to win a majority of their matches anyway because most of their opponents are average or below average. In comparison to teams playing in the 90's and in the early 2000's where competition was stiff this team is clearly less talented but lacks competition so Ian's and Sam's inclination to think it's all about unrealistic expectations on their part because of their memories of childhood hero worship should not be agreed upon because the difference in talent now and then between era's are in fact clear as day!!!
Except for Smith, Head and Cummings I do not see a lot of talent like there were in the 90's.

I went to the Adelaide live show last Thursday and still find myself laughing at the #askTGC banter.
It was one of those moments where you look around the room at all the fucking weird coats gathering together before realising I am also one of those losers.

I thoroughly enjoyed the deck in Perth. Test cricket is at its best when the conditions slightly favour the bowlers. Batsmen have to dig in to score runs but, if they do, then they will. Comparing this deck to the absolute shit tips in India is farcical. Those decks either entirely favour batting OR bowling, there is no middle ground. So uou end up with games that finish on the morning of day 3 with a team scoring 190 in their first innings and winning by 9 wickets or a game that ends an hour before stumps on day 5 halfway through the 3rd innings. I'm happy to shit all over the Gabba deck from last summer as it was absolutely fucked but, as much as I like Harsha, comparing this deck to Indore misses the mark by a LONG way

I’ve been in Perth for a month and there was fuck all advertisement for the test anywhere around the city so no wonder people didn’t show. The Scorchies have billboards and posters in loads of places but no mention of the national side
I have heard from the inner circles in Australia that there is sort of a scam going on. These Pires go to option, get big bucks and then pull out at the last moment saying that they're injured.
So the scam here is they are getting insurance. After getting picked up at the auction and when they get injured, the insurance pays them so they are basically not playing and still getting the money

Aside from a few Ind test, how many competitive test matches have their been in Australia in the past 10+yrs. Its so difficult for opponents to bat there let alone win. I think its fair and home field advantage. But same take should apply in other places
My objection here would be that you have a broad spread of different types of pitches across the Australian grounds - you can't just master one type of conditions and expect that will carry you through. You will face turners, roads, green topped monsters, and lightning decks with grand canyon cracks.
@@Cryshalo Don’t disagree with you on that. But still the outcome is bleak. Just in the past 20yrs Aus have won 74 test and only lost 13 at home. India’s home record in the same time is around 55-12. Pretty similar results. Number of matches played were about the same just lot more draws in Indy.
Perth Stadium wouldn’t even qualify for Adelaide Oval’s asshole. The most overrated stadium in Australia. Manuka oval in Canberra has more history and reverence than the giant, illuminated trainer potty that is Perth Stadium.
Its a footy stadium that they’re trying convince us can co exist as a test match venue. Its lifeless. Its the second biggest test venue in the country but WA only have the 4th largest population if my memory serves me right.
