    Mr. Dark Horse, I love this sporran pattern. It's incredibly user friendly! It has been a life saver since seemingly no one offers these elsewhere on line. WITH THAT BEING SAID, if you ever wanted to design a pattern for the hunting style sporran, I'd be the first to buy it. Thanks for your time!

    When you ask for suggestions on Patreon I'm pretty sure I've mentioned a sporran a few times. So happy to see this one come out! I'll be making this pattern very soon!

    Great sporran. More dancing in your kilt please.

    The fastest way to crap up your kilt is to use a chain on your sporran. A nice 1/2” leather sporran is the way to go.

    I do leatherwork as well and it cracks me up how similar we are. The "lazy" saddle stitch, too much antique, forgettig to bevel the edge and redying are all things i do too occasionally.

    I'm really excited about this and going to head over for the pattern. I got into leather work and my first project was a sporran. Needles to say it turned out...meh. I've been wanting to remake it, so now I will! Love your work! Thanks!
    Quick edit: I have some rabbit fur I got from a friend I've been saving for a sporran. Any suggestions beyond just sewing it in?

    Thanks for posting this. Nice work. Do dilute the resolene before air brushing ? Dilute with water or something else? What's your dilution ratio? Keep posting, still hoping to see you do a sword scabbard..you could really rock that. Thanks again.

    I recently made some sporrans. One thing I noticed is you talked about oiling the leather after dying. I’m not familiar with that
. (I’m a newbie to leather craft). On my sporrans, the ones I dyed black will cloud up over time. Whatever the blush is that is creating the clouded appearance is easily removed by buffing, and then they look great. But, it bothers me. Would oiling prevent that? Do you have any idea what it is? They are died with fiebings black from Hobby Lobby and finished with fiebings leather balm.
    Great video! Thanks!

    An unusual take on the Scottish sporran is to make it from badger or fox pelts where the flap over the front is made from the face of the animal, usually with eerie glass eyes inserted in the eye holes.
    Full Mask Sporrans (essentially the same thing as Full-Face Sporrans or Head On Sporrans) are made from the pelts of animals such as raccoon, muskrat, skunk, badger or fox. They are among the oldest designs for sporrans. However, not many people use them regularly these days.

    Do you sell the Celtic designs separately? I embroider and quilt and can see how they could be used very easily.

      This was deer. I'm not sure if that's a great choice since it's a bit stretchy. But it turned out decently.

    You mention being nervous about the thickness of the leather when dying the back but I may have missed why you were nervous. Was it b/c the dye can bleed thru to the carving or b/c it may cause cupping of the leather? Or maybe some other reason I haven't considered

    Is that just a regular staple that you put in the keeper?

    • @DarkHorseWorkshop
      @DarkHorseWorkshop  Pƙed rokem +1

      Yes. It's a special little one that I have for my special little stapler. But it's not specific to leathercraft at all. There's a link off my website.
