  • Wow keeping the bees held back from swarming this spring has an interesting experience! The flow keep teasing us that it is almost here but we aren't quite there yet. So this is how I like to keep my bees from swarming. SO far we have caught 6 swarms this year! This hive being one of them. Do you think this is OG?
Also.. I have started a new membership on the channel called the Hive Mind! I started this membership to give you a behind the scenes look at what it is truly like learning and growing with beekeeping as we expand our apiary. All proceeds go towards helping support our growth and buying more equipment. I am beyond thankful for how far we have come and it is all thanks to YOU for supporting my journey these last few years!

Way cool that you scored with this one.👍Have a great week.😁
Depends on the reason for the swarming in my opinion.
If they swarm because of space, space fixes that but if it's normal time normal process🤔ya not so much.😂
Some genetics are also swarmier then others.

I doubt wax on plastic foundation goes bad. Bees are efficient. They won't produce new wax if they can recycle it. If they have more space than they can occupy they will take whatever they need from unused parts of the hive and bring it to the nest. That includes wax. Also they won't build anything unless food is coming in. So if adding foundation when there is no nectar coming in you need to feed them or they won't build anything.

Maybe the queen was there and they just had a tough winter?

We have done same but still swarming happened! I don't know why this happened? Is it particular strain of bees which swarm more and more?

Swarming, no matter how hard we want to end it, sometimes isn't preventable.... It is their natural way of reproducing. Any time you try to prevent nature from doing what it is designed to do, nature will still find a way. However you can stop it a lot of the times.
