      Good video, I recall taking my vehicle in for the ignition key & airbag recalls few years ago. My 2008 charger missed the radiator fan recall by couple letters, which unfortunately the fan blades came apart destroying the radiator. Currently pushing 215,000 miles though, it’s been a pleasure driving this HEMI since 2012!

      That is true but he did say you could have the dealer check it. You wouldn't believe the million and billionaires that wouldn't trade even the $100 for the $1000-$10000 an hour they can make or even what thier free time is worth. Always badass to have that option but for sure your gonna have to pay to play! It's the name of the game!

      Yeah I own a 2007 as well and I’ve never had a single issue. And I think I had the same airbag issue. Put in a new head unit and now the airbag light stays on. Rather then that car performs and drives amazing I love it. An I do my best to take care of it other then driving like crazy sometimes

      Just replace the air bag your self and save $. A1 auto has a ez video on how to. Also, these vehicles are very sensitive to oil changes so be careful when not changing your oil or it will mess up your mds solenoids or worse.

    Other issues to look out for on the 3.5l chagers:
    -Misfires. If its not the Plug or a Coil its one of the rocker arms tend to fall on some of these engins it'll cause a misfire.
    -Fuel level sensor code. P0462 or p0463.

    Some tips. Don't let these hemis idle for long periods of time, stay on top of your oil changes, don't beat on the car until it's warmed up, make sure the cooling system is maintained and don't be cheap with critical stuff. Basic, but makes these cars last a long time. 142k on mine and runs like a top.

    I have the 3.5 liter one with 130k miles. No major issues yet. One issue I have had is that the valve stem metal gets brittle, cracks and causes slow leaks and would have flats when parked over night, they cost about $60 to replace because they have that magnetic tire pressure sensor thing in them.

    Virtually every control arm Hass to be replaced every 70,000 miles. With a 3.5 engine the flex pipe on the left-hand side. And yes my fan shot through my radiator and caused a lot of damage. Shocks and struts and countless sets of brakes.
    It handles great it’s wheel drive it goes in the snow it rides fantastic! I am so glad Dodge is keeping these cars around!

    9/10 the air bags have been replaced on the driver and passenger sides. As a Chrysler tech I haven’t seen the Steering angle sensor go bad unless you have someone align the car incorrectly, usually you can re-initialize it by driving. The suspension should be a BIG concern for anyone wanting to daily these 24/7, the tension struts and lower control arms (both could be considered lower control arms) always go bad. And the water pumps on the hemi’s especially pre-eagle like to spew coolant from the pulley snout.

    2007 Dodge charger:
    The Heater/AC fan died. I replaced it myself and now it works. And this is a big one: the oil dipstick top (yellow portion) broke off. I have heard of this happening to others. Too bad the dipstick wasn't made of all metal like the old GM ones were.

    Just had to replace my radiator and fan on 07 Charger 3.5 the fan blades (plastic) wobbled and tore a hole in the radiator until they broke off. Pulled a fan from the junk yard (LKQ) bought a new radiator and it’s working good now. I’m in Fl and I don’t know about other areas but the thing I hate most is how the paint and clear coat fade and chip. The plastic bumpers almost look another color. Just did the Dupli color can paint job and clear coat and it looks much better. Saving up to have the whole car paint Torred red next year. I am just grateful for so many Mods that are available. My 07 doesn’t look outdated. It has low miles and runs great. Wouldn’t mind getting a 2015 RT or SXT.

    I’ve had my 08 sxt 3.5 almost 5 years and I’ve had to replace alternator twice, egr valve,water pump& timing belt, radiator and fan, the fan shattered and busted radiator, rocker arms replaced, ball joints, bad injector, I love it, but dang, there for awhile it was always something and it’s 700 or more to fix it every time.. and I’m sure I’m forgetting some things

  • @Justacogg
    @Justacogg Před 3 lety +3

    I would add that the front lower control arms repeatedly go bad on the front bushings. With 147,000 miles I am now on my second replacement of every single front control arms upper and lower along with two outer tie rod ends.
    It’s never the pivot point or ball joint and it’s always the rubber bushing and on the control arms.They dry rot and crack very rapidly allowing the front wheels to move back-and-forth from front to rear. You’ll also notice a thud going over bumps. If you’re riding next to your own car it actually looks a bit scary.. also if you’re in the salt belt the toner rings for the axles get rusty and set off ABS codes.

    It is usually not the steering angle sensor itself but the clock spring that is broken. The steering angle sensor is an array of photo-interrupters and the clock spring has all the parts that do the interrupting for the steering angle sensor. The thing that breaks the clock spring every time is the blinker signal auto reset tab on the multi-function switch. The white tab that pops inwards towards the clock spring when the left/right blinker is on will contact the clock spring as you turn the wheel and that contact is supposed to reset the signal to the off position but will eventually destroy the plastic clock spring. Wish they made a metal insert for the clock spring, would have helped a lot. :/ I decided I don't care about the auto reset feature and since I'd rather not replace the clock spring ever again, I clipped off that stupid white tab on the multi-function switch short enough that it never hit the clock spring again. I don't know if that new clock spring will live forever but it will certainly live longer without that tab beating on it...

      Gentlemen, the possible problem for stalling at lights and stop signs is the EGR tubing that connects to the back of the intake. The blue O-ring needs to be replaced. Cost is $15-$20 at dealer.
      It's located close to motor for wipers.

    • @michealjordan6754

      Did u try throttle body? Ground cables? mine was stalling, ended up being my pcm. But then after I had it diagnosed and it had a few dtc/systems that needed updates. Not all shops have the tools to perform a thorough diagnostic because some of them are for dodge/Nissan/Mercedes’ specific so not ever shop has the right tool. A simple scanner won’t show you what’s going on

  • @msbuildz_769

    Ever since the airbag recall work was done on 08’ 3.5 se it has become a DTC Code Nightmare!!! C121A, C121C, U0126, 2205, P0344, P0340! The turn signals, high beams, A/C, and Radio quit working! As soon as different things are repaired then something else new pops up OR one of the repaired come back up! We had a total of two DTC’s and after the repair was completed and both codes dropped off less than 50 miles after that 9 damn engine codes popped up along with 3 abs codes! So if you’re not going through it congratulations but remember this post and someone ALWAYS has a much different experience than you are!

    I have an 08 SRT Charger and it was recalled for the ignition switch and the air bags. I have been having the issue with the traction control light and ordered the angle steering switch. Along with that I ordered the multi switch or directional switch because the wipers work intermittently. I changed the wiper motor but I still have the issue. The car only has 37,000 miles. I have it since new. I love the way the car runs and drives, it's just frustrating dealing with some of these issues with such low mileage. I'll check my cooling fans next. Thank you for the video.

    I have a 06 Daytona that I bought new and now has 136,000. It's pretty decent so far, the gas tank had a recall that kept making it stall when you filled it up. The tie tods and sway bar bushings are cooked. Replaced the leaking radiator last summer ( that was a bitch). The dash light go haywire once and a while and I never figured that out... Other then that just normal maintenance. Mobil 1 with a predator tune it runs sweet!

    • @freddieskelton752

      Okay so I'm sure you roll the front two windows up and down more often then the back two. If you take the master switch/button board out and break it down to where you can see the stems of all 4 or even just the front two switches, you will see a connecter piece in the shape of a titter totter.... It's not getting a connection from the circuit board to the actual button.
      You can either replace the whole setup and have a new board and buttons or you can see if you can solder just enough down inside to complete the connection. (Or just to by you some time maybe move the 2 rear electrical plugs down in the door to the front and the fronts to the back.)
      I felt with the same problem on my 07 sxt

    • @re8672
      @re8672 Před 3 lety +2

      Coast at 10mph, then turn and hold key in Start position. Release after chime and yellow warning lights come on. Trac ESP and ABS will be completely disabled; not possible using the just ESP/Trac OFF button. To reset, stop vehicle, turn key completely off and then restart. FYI, this will set several diagnostic trouble codes, but will not set the check engine light. These codes could cost you unnecessary time/money if they are present when diagnosing vehicle issues.
