    This was such a good episode of Walking Dead, the story of connection, keeping your humanity and finding peace even though the world around you has gone to hell. Episodes like this one are what keep me watching this show

      I was about as fucking cynical to this series since the start of the prison. And even then the show in my opinion was just trudging on. It took me a year to watch the fifth season again out of my memory of it just becoming boring, and played out. Then it took until netflix just got the new season to make me watch this, I like this episode. But when a story is made just so fucking poignant like the plot of the walking dead, it is just to fucking much. One thing I like about the concept of the apocalypse is that people are still human, most of us have a hard time killing one another. There should always be a light within the dark, but this show goes on, and on, and on blind in the darkness of the story.

    Nobody is gonna give a shit about this comment, but when this episode first aired I was an angry young man who hated himself and everything due to years of bullying. I then started to try to find out who I was and find my inner peace. Then watching this episode made me literally fall apart crying when it aired, as I felt I could really relate to Morgan.
    It’s funny how we can make connections to characters who aren’t even real through literature and media and have it affect our own lives. I’ll always be thankful for the peace this episode brought me when I was struggling.

    I remember watching this episode at such a strange time of my life, it was comforting in a way. Felt alone, lost, I had no sense of direction with anything. I’d just dropped out of school at 17 due to health issues, everything around me was just crumbling. I remember coming home one day and watching it the day after it aired, it was the first time in a long time I’d felt at peace. It’s strange because at the time I wasn’t expecting much from this episode, but watching through it let me slip away from reality for a while. It took me into another world where there was nothing but just peace and acceptance. All the noise from my problems turned off. This sounds corny af writing this lmao but it’s the truth, every time I see scenes from this episode it reminds me of those times. There’s a lot of nostalgia watching this back, things are okay now :)

  • @shabeki
    @shabeki Před 2 lety +24

    This wasn't just my favorite episode of the series. It's one of my favorite episodes from any tv show. I've dealt with mental illness for most of my adult life. I've been suicidal at times and psychotic during others. I've lost myself and who I was and my drive in life at times and I've had years where I overcompensated in the rat race. I've been surrounded by those who love me and also somehow found myself completely at other times in my life, in good times and bad. But I keep going no matter what.
    Morgan lost his wife, his child and old life and even lost his damn mind. And seeing all that erode away, he wanted to die. He pleaded with Eastman to kill him and tried to force Eastman to kill him by attacking him. He felt that he was too "cowardly" to take his own life, so he went around inflicting pain upon others secretly hoping that someone would put him out of his own misery.
    But along comes Eastman who shows him the simple joys in life, that all life is precious and that the bad things in life must be put behind you in order to move forward. I wish I had an Eastman in my life. I wish everyone should be so lucky to have encountered someone like Eastman to pick a person when he or she's down. But mental health hotlines are underfunded, understaffed and even nonexistent in some countries. Maybe the world would be a much better place if everyone could be an Eastman to everyone else.
    I've followed Morgan's journey on the show over the years more than the other characters. I crossed over to "Fear the Walking Dead" despite the weaker writing, bland characters and silly plots. I will always follow the show so long as Morgan is on it. Scott Gimple better not fuck things up with him the way he did with Carl.

    I've written a few screenplays, and if there is a TWD episode I'd hold up as an example of something I'd like to write "Here's Not Here" would be one.

      Morgan in Fear 8x06: "Have you seen how much this has changed since you first gave it to me here? I suppose you'd say I have too. You made that all possible with all that you did and all that you taught me. There's something I realized just lately, that all life is precious, but that is not about killing or not killing. It's about... what you do with the time that you have. And the... the people that you have, ya know?"

    Eastman is far and away the most influential and most memorable character who only appeared in one single episode, he’s the only person who appears in only one episode who’s name I easily remember as if he was a main character I wish they would’ve showed his backstory or gave him an episode similar to here’s negan although I guess it would be a little weird since he’s not a part of the overall story he’s only important to morgan
