"Jap's Got A Sh*tload Of Gold In His Teeth." - The Pacific (2010) #shorts #thepacific #movie #scene
The Pacific is a 2010 American war drama miniseries produced by HBO, Playtone, and DreamWorks that premiered in the United States on March 14, 2010.
The series is a companion piece to the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers and focuses on the United States Marine Corps's actions in the Pacific Theater of Operations within the wider Pacific War. Whereas Band of Brothers followed the men of Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment through the European Theater, The Pacific centers on the experiences of three Marines (Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge, and John Basilone) who were in different regiments (1st, 5th, and 7th, respectively) of the 1st Marine Division.

During the Battle of Peleliu in The Pacific, Snafu is seen taking gold teeth from a deceased Japanese soldier. Ultimately, his purpose is to keep the teeth as souvenirs. The practice of taking "war trophies" happened often during World War II. While a war trophy could be something fairly innocuous, such as a flag, they can also be more gruesome objects such as human body parts. In World War II, American soldiers' war trophies often consisted of the teeth or skulls of enemy soldiers. This activity was so widespread among troops that the U.S. Military banned the practice in 1942. Unfortunately, it continued to occur anyway.
When The Pacific shows Snafu taking Japanese soldiers' gold teeth as war trophies, it says a lot about who his character is. Namely, the scene emphasizes that Snafu has little humanity left in him, and doesn't see the enemies as real people. His actions show his cruelty. As a result, Sledge is disturbed by Snafu, and tensions rise between the two characters. In a sense, Snafu is Sledge's opposite in that Sledge is horrified by the war around him whereas Snafu is actively participating in it. Overall, it is a brutal and telling scene. (Screen Rant)

Pretty soon we'll have no need to even go to the theatre, because we can just have some internet dumbass break it down for the rest of the internet dumbasses...
WHO NEEDS ACTORS LEARNING HOW TO CONVEY EMOTION THROUGH TONE AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, WHEN WE CAN JUST HAVE "MOVIEINSIGHTREAL" JUST EXPLAIN THE SUPER-OBVIOUS?!?
Hey Joseph Mazzello, you're working too hard...
War will do that
In the movie SNAFU looked like a cute little Hispanic boy but in real life he looked as much like a monkey as anyone could and still be human. Compare picture in the book Pacific not the airbrushed one on Wikipedia.
Any dude exposed to those conditions loses his humanity.
He CLEARLY plans on selling the gold teeth for money, not 'keeping them as war trophies.'
Has he lost his humanity? Yes, absolutely.
Is he harvesting human body parts as war trophies? No, absolutely not.
golden rule..
get their teeth before they get yours
If you haven’t read With The Old Breed, this scene is a lot more brutal in that book. Before the airfield push they were all doing it but sledge and his friend Oswald
Nice but cold
$30 an ounce for gold is crazy
Craziest part about this is golds 30 bucks an ounce
Sledge later wanted jap gold and snafu was like naw bro it ain’t you
I would love to know how many $$'s worth of gold was wrenched out of Japanese and nazi mouths during the war. And how much of that gold has ended up in bullion over the years
Id take my trophies too.
Snafu would be an E-4 Mafia ( If there was such a thing) KING these days 😂😂😂
You know, if it was anyone but the ww2 japanese, it's be a lot worse
Guy gets one gold tooth and thinks he's rich lmao
This is America.
Freddie Mercury and John Deacon were never the same after the war…
Knew a cwo3 who's grandfather served in the Pacific.. when he went through his souvenir chest after his grandfather passed... he found a glass bottle full of teeth.. pretty sure it was a common thing
Yes japs had gold teeth. When my grandfather was young, they would often loot dead Japanese soldiers and use sledgehammers to get their gold teeth. He described it as gutting a chicken with rock.
30 dollars a oz for gold is nuts that’s what some people be paying for sliver today 😭😭
That's 1944 dollars. Around 530 bucks today.
When I worked for a prison this is how alot of those punks acted
30$ an ounce???? Was this set in the 1000000bce
I like this boy😂
Gold crowns and silver dental fillings arent real. They are amalgamated.
Born too early to travel space born too late to collect gold teeth from japs 😢 the greatest generation really had it all
At first in this scene, Snafu saw Sledge can't use opener well, so he gave already opened mre, then i realized Snafu was acutally kind man rather than like maniac.
But that teeth...i don't know what to say, maybe War makes him like that.
Idgaf golds like 2500 an ounce and that’s my dead enemy lmao
The only ww2 item I have is a very rare nazi propaganda coin from the war i found it at a coin shop the man had 3 i was able to buy one well it's was burnt but still legible he Said no one's been interested on those and ive had then here for almost a year and yes its legal to own those coins however most were melted down so there extremely rare authentic ones anyways i still have it I bought it around a year ago mint condition ones last I checked sold for $55 a coin theres not a large market for nazi propaganda items im just a coin collector finding something that rare is like finding gold to me i had a great grandfather that fought in ww2 we still have a plak in the house signed by the president at the time in its original frame and my grandfather has the flag in his house i know this comment might offend people for owning a coin like this if this does i apologize i just figured i would post a comment on here
Lol the time it takes to pull out a plated gold tooth is about minimum wage when you get done 😂😂
Acting is so bad it hurts.
Yuri gettig absolutely hammered by ranged fire " yeah ill be ok. Ill just run this way" lol
The japs whernt to kind to our medics f em take tje gold terth for evetry medic they killed
Say what you will about snafu, but realize the imperial japanese soldiers had no qualms about taking gold teeth
I love how disgusted the other guy is, like he just realised that knife was how the ration he got traded was opened.
He was freddy mercury
Crazy series
Its not like he needed it anymore
Cpl. Shelton the Crazy Cajun...Semper Fi
Ehhh with a gold tooth around 2-3 grams and adjusted for inflation hes got like 90 bucks right there
Wouldn't a goldsmith just refuse human teeth anyway?
What's the issue? Dudes reacting like he's pulling teeth out of alive prisoners or something.
Bro was definitely a terminal Lance 🤣
Vae Victis.
Hawai was stolen
The Coal was stolen
If i was japan i would not have surrendered to thugs aswell.
A marine that can’t use a John Wayne?
The it in “Kill it.” Is the perfect confirmation of Snafu’s dismissal of his humanity.
There’s no longer any distinguishing between people, creatures, and things. Only threats and non threats to be neutralized or not.
War is war, there are no referees running around so it never made sense to have rules in war. The goal of war is to destroy your enemy whether that is physically, psychologically, economically, ect.
If you don’t like it then blame your politicians for starting wars they don’t fight in but benefit from blood spilled on all sides.
That tooth was $300 back then which today would be $5200. So hypothetically if u took 10 gold teeth out you’d have $52,000 in today’s $…….guess I’m a combat dentist
Yeah but later in the show, Sledge tries to do the same thing with a dead Japanese soldier, and snafu says he shouldn’t do it. He said something on lines of its bad luck or something. War will make you do things you never thought possible. Even still, snafu realized later on it was in bad taste, or at least he didn’t like that sledge was copying his behavior
Greed
Ah yes, when the Adventuring Party makes camp and the Cleric first witnesses the Rogue's habitual post-combat looting spree.
Went from lowing them off a cliff to becoming a dentist
Was very common. Biggest war in history gonna have a bunch of soldiers that don’t care. And after a while nor will most of the others.
Dunno how this guy makes me dislike any character he plays
I heard a WWII Pacific Theater vet talk about how one guy he knew carried two canteens. One for water and one filled with gold teeth.
Bros a business man
Rami was great in this show
Was this true did Japanese actually have gold teeth or was this just done for writing
Searching for gold in tEEEth common then.
If I remember correctly in the book, Sledge was shocked because the japanese soldier was still alive and squirming as his teeth were being cut out.
Many soldiers actually kept their spoon in their trouser pocket just around the knee area: This is proven in the trenches at Ulster memorial where a spoon was discovered with a bullet hole through it. The soldier who possessed the spoon lost his leg, recovered, and returned to the same place shortly after in the next war.
I mean, in this economy?
Fredie Mercure and Keanu Reeves in the same movie
Seems I human but I kinda get guys been trying to fucking kill your friends and you so you lose all sympathy might as well get some cash out of it
Where can I watch this for free?
Don’t see anything wrong with this
Then remember it was FDR who made it illegal for anyone but the government to have gold
Watched all of this. Don't remember a single scene.
Leave it to the guy from Louisiana to be the weird one!
Damn Mr Robot Offa dem Perky Yerkies Again
This is a human thing more basic than any nationality. You own what you kill.
I mean…..hell yeah
Hell yeah bro
Fair game in love and war
Why is that bad, that's good gold lol.
Desceration of corpses.
Some vets tried to take teeth and other weird things off the enemy and bring them home 😂 I think one guy tried to take a bunch of chopped of ears back to America
How would you even preserve that 😂😂😂
Honestly can't even blame the guy
What is elliot doing here?

That happened to my great uncle, he was killed in Korea and it's a friendly who stole his gold teeth on the boat who was bringing his body back to France.
I see nothing wrong 🤷🏻♂️
I knew a guy in graves registration, 3rd Med at Phu Bai that had a little drawstring bag around his neck with VC & NVA gold teeth in it. 😳
I mean you would make the most out of a shit situatuon 😅
This is something different than the usual german luger pistol.
"I don't get it. We train these children to hate the enemy, give them tools to obliterate each other and stick them in hell with little food or water but they just can't kill people nicely..."
Marines are subhuman.
Finally a movie clip channel that doesn't put shitty music over the clips AND they provide an explanation for the scenes in the comments.
Idk how this show gets compared to BOB. This show sucked.
What I'd do to be able to buy gold at $30 an ounce
Well don't die in war with valuables on/in you
Cant even imagine gold being 30 an ounce now silver is like 60 an ounce

Tbh, war trophies is the best you could let a soldier have for the shit congress decides to force them to do.
The islands of paradise today were once the islands of hell back then.
Others soldiers lookin like what is blud doing them niggas just took a huge hit to their humanity stat on jah
Tbf as far as war crimes go this is about as tame as it gets and let’s be honest it was kinda a given since he had you know….. gold in his teeth even his own allies would have probably done the same
금이빨 뽑아 돈을 모아 그는 이후 위대한 락가수가 됩니다
