So VW TAIGO's apparently have gills. Noted ✅️
I’m shocked that VW Taigo managed to plow through that when the water went over the bonnet!

Considering you cant see the road surface at all, including obstructiond or large potholes, anything other than creeping through at 5mph is crazy. So many drivers learn their oesson the expensive way. If insurers pay out to these drivers its no wonder premiums are going up so much.

That skip lorry driver is clueless - even before he entered the water at speed he'd been driving around with the rear lights and number plate covered up

One of our company numpty van drivers went through a flood too fast the other week, no surprise.. bow wave flooded the air intake, 10500 pounds repair estimate

Those Sprinters are shocking with how easily they get flooded out
Its because the drivers hit the water too fast, 5- 10 mph, MAX through water that deep!
The air intake is ahead of the front wheel at bumper level on some of them. It's madness. Surprised they can ford a puddle.
That means they may have to spend a significant amount of money to repair it😂😂

People have no common sense road is flooded let drive in it and ruined the engine
Also people filming them makes it worst it’s like there brain falls out and wants to show off
@ThomasEdward exactly
Stupidity is indeed universal, every time a creek or river floods in Australia idiots risk their own lives and their passengers, plus their vehicles, in total ignorance or in divine stupidity, irrespective of numerous reports of others dying in their idiotic attempts to cross flooded stretches of road. The old "It will never happen to me" syndrome reigns supreme. And none of these idiots consider the emergency services who have to rescue them.
Why on earth do they drive through so fast when it's that deep, do they think they're piloting a submarine?
I feel the Green VW Crafter van got lucky after the big splash 🤔….thanks for sharing Ben 👏🏻👏🏻

I wonder how many people have the breathers in the diffs and gearbox covered…
1:55 Seeing that tractor's bow wave swamp the VW - if that same scenario happened and the car got damaged, I guess the farmer would be liable?
You kidding? You don’t think it would be the knucklehead who drove his vehicle past a “road closed” sign due to 18 inches of water that they would blame? i.e. the driver of the VW.
How did that Taigo get through? I was expecting it to stop any minute.
I don`t think the new `Boat Van` will catch on,...lolzzzzzz

Mercedes’ Benz will not sell him another van now
5:59 a very neglected car. Small size spare tire on the front axis shows how "bright" the driver is.
What a surprise, another Merc that isn’t waterproof.
Does ’Hello Fresh’ deliver water chestnuts and watercress? Could be a selling point right there. “We wash your food for you”.
If you need your vehicle carpets throughly washed, call the Professional Cleaning Care team. We do an ACE job, of washing the entire vehicle, outside, inside, we even wash the inside of the engine.

Что они творят?! Неужели не кто не слышал про гидроудар?!
Думаю, что после этого, энное количество узнает, что такое гидроудар 🤔😉
😂I have many questions. Why the hell are they driving through deep water? are the insurance companies in the UK that good? Greetings from Germany
Hello 😂👋🏼, so often people misjudge the depth of the water or very occasionally aren’t paying full attention to their driving and drive full speed into the water, facing the consequences of a new engine most of the time. The insurance companies often don’t pay out for this type of flood damage because it’s intentional & preventable .
I feel really stupid ,NO SHIT? well I never.
Land Rovers and Range Rovers lead the way at going through floods, they must be the best boats in the car market. Once they can combine that with something that can negotiate dry tarmac with a similar lack of drama they will have a world beater on their hands🤣🤣🤣
Discovery and Ford Ranger drivers nailed it, push in create a bow wave ease off, then follow the bow wave. Accelerating on serves to increase the depth of the water.
It’s these clowns that put everyone’s insurance premiums up every year,
Unlikely that insurance will pay out for flood damage on a closed road.
Random man asks random man if he can call his office. Genius.
That’s the kind of idiot we’ve bred in this country the last 50 years. And we’re proud of it!
Yeah I was confused when he asked me can he call his boss 😅 imagine if I said no 😂😂😂
Whose great idea it was to pull locked white van with parking-brake engaged? Now not only it has damaged engine and water-soaked interior, but also destroyed rear pneumatics and possibly damaged chassis!
Why they dont try another road 😅
You don't HAVE TO release the handbrake - but it helps!
On the bmw it’s skipping cos it’s auto and stuck in mate by looks of things
A lot of vehicles now, have electronic select auto and electric parking brake, when the ignition is turned off, park and parking brake automatically apply, cannot select neutral on those autos, unless engine is running and the EPB is just a pain in the backside at best of times, but should be able still disengage wit just ignition on, but not guaranteed if partially submerged.
@@asp383 I can tell you from experience almost all Mercedes the handbrake that’s electric always puts itself on in the middle of the Ford. It’s sometimes what ruins the cars cos you can’t get them out fast
@THEHOMEZOOUK Thankfully, I rarely have to work on anything German, apart from less than a handful of Sprinters and VW Crafter/MAN TGE vans, had enough of the cars when I was on recovery.
@@asp383 I bet mate
Why oh why.
I wonder if reversing through would be better or not?
Noooooo. Old myth mate. The best thing to do is go around 😅
They do it in the British Army so its a good Idea but not full proof depends on the vehicle and where the air intake is located.
@@Azureecosse boot seals aren’t designed to keep out forced water ingress mate make it worse lol save ya engine flood ya interior
Watching videos like this make me NEVER want a used car again, you never know what idiot has been behind the wheel.
Any of these that are EVs will be dangerous for the rest of their battery packs' lives. And who knows what unsuspecting person will buy them secondhand?
@@janebrown7231aren't the battery packs in all vehicles sealed?
So what exactly is your concern?
@Jehty21 Battery packs are semi-sealed. They are sealed apart from breathe vents, which are submerged in these conditions.
As you don't seem to be aware of the dangers of thermal runaway following battery pack submersion, however brief, or following heavy road spray, or following normal usage in varying weather including wet conditions (over time), I suggest you could use some of those as search terms to confirm the dangers.
You can also find video footage of water draining out of battery packs following brief submersion, showing clearly that the pack filled with water. And there are some instances where this is followed immediately by fire.
The short that is caused by water intrusion is not necessarily immediate. Several studies have identified thermal runaway three or even six months after the original incident, when water-initiated corrosion has been a factor.
Advice in the US and the UK is that an EV with a battery pack which has been briefly submerged (or involved in any sort of collision) must be parked 50 ft / 15 m away from any other vehicles for 6 months, to reduce risk to other vehicles if cells explode.
A single 18650 cell explosion produces local conditions which are likely to lead to immediate thermal runaway of the whole pack.
Hope that helps answer your question.
@@janebrown7231 "advice in the US and UK" Advice by whom?
"several studies" studies that can be found were?
"find video footage" footage that can be found were?
@Jehty21 Thank you for freely admitting that you cannot refute any of the facts I've kindly given you. I'm glad to see you have backed away from saying that battery packs are waterproof.
However, you're also making it clear you're trolling, not interested in finding out information which you can very easily find for yourself, but won't believe because of your prejudices.
I credited you with the capacity for reasoned discussion - obviously my mistake.
I'm not interested in trolls, and I have no duty to feed them facts that are so easy to find.
I guess people's logic is if they go slow it will leak inside the car so pedal to the metal is the answer
Boats were made to travel on water. Motor vehicles were mean't to travel on roads. Its quite simple to work out. 1. See and identify a flood 2. Reverse your vehicle back without touching water 3. Drive away facing the opposite way. 4. Enjoy your day with a working engine with no recovery bills and no new engine bill.
Or learn how to wade a vehicle
@@1988dgs Or, not take the vehicle in to the water where it was never designed to be a fishing boat. Thats an even BETTER idea. How about that?
Its foolish mistakes like his that drive up the cost of car insurance for the majority. People don't think anymore.
The yellow one has no insurance and failed mot on 23 December
ANYONE ORDER A TAXI FOR BEN? 😂
Can you drive in reverse?
You could but the way the boot is sealed isn’t designed for water ingress via force
The insurance companies shouldn't pay out because the driver put theirselves in danger deliberately not by accident could have avoided the risk of causing damage
I worry for humanity
I wouldnt even dream of driving through a flood , never mind actually do it - no way!

That Taigo owner is lucky that they have that car because continuing to ford when a tractor was ploughing through was beyond stupid.

Is it better to drive backwards through these deep floods!!
yeah the bow would be rearwards forward and save the engine but seems like a risk due to visibility
I used to rally years ago back in the sixties and puddles like these if the organisers thought that the fords were to deep they gave us diversions, but years ago we could water proof engines better than you can today.

20 grand? 😂
The speed is stupidly fast for most of these arses. Ploughing through 2ft or more of water at silly speed is a recipe for, well watch the vid.
How are license plates connected to cars in the UK? With spit?
Standard fitting is just two screws, which is fine until you slam your car into standing water at 20mph, which is similar to driving into a wall! You often see body work panels or whole bumpers ripped off on these videos.
How do you want them connected to the car? Welded on?
@@_Ali.bolts and nuts for starters
Double sided tape is common.
90% of number plates are screwed into the cars bumper. But if you decide to hit a wall of water at 30mph and flood your engine I think the fucking number plate falling off shouldn’t be the thing you’re most worried about 😂
Hopefully zero insurance payouts.
The problem with diesels is that there are no spark plugs to remove to crank the water out!
And the much higher compression far far less forgiving
You can take out the fuel injectors
Or on some , the glow plugs
@@terryrance2662 True, on an old engine maybe, but on modern common rail injection systems where the pressure in the lines can be thousands of PSI that might not be a good thing to mess with unless you really know what you are doing!
@@terryrance2662 not easily. Unlike a spark plug. I don’t fancy pulling injectors and snapping them at the side of the road 😂
