1)recommending a top mount with bigger scoop is not a good "power mod". They still heat soak very badly being on top of the motor. Front mounts are the way to go. In either case, they wont give you significant gains until youstart pumping more boost and fuel in.
    2) you had to get a tune not beause your airboxflows better (no doubt itdoes), but because you changed the size of the pipe the MAF sensor sits in. This will have put its reading out, triggering the dreaded limp mode.
3)120hp is probably right for factory size tires.
To really make these motors sing, you need to upgrade the injectors, turbo, install a fmic and 3" exhaust, then get a tune to suit. The mail order ones are great, my Patrol went well with+30's and a mail order tune. For best results though, a bespoke tune is always better.

Great video mate. Just a question about fixing the demon air box and the pipes for the intake , how did you get the original air flow sensor on the line. Did you cut off the original part or used the original and combined it to the new pipes. I’m just about to fix mine and realized that there is no place to put the airflow sensor on it. So looking at cutting original line and fixing that part from it. Any details would help.

Thanks for watching the video mate I’m glad you enjoyed it.
You are 100% correct the demonpro intake has nowhere for the maf.
It has been designed so as you will need to cut the flange end off your factory maf section and install the factory pipe as part of your new setup.
This may seem odd after you just spent all the time and money on making everything bigger to flow better.
They do this deliberately for the maf to work correctly.
The maf needs the correct Venturi in order to meter the air flow, volume and pressure.
I hope this helps bud 🤙🏼

The way demonpro design it and the way I did it.
Is to just cut the flange off the factory MAF section and use it as part of the new setup.
I’ve been told they do this as the best option because it keeps the MAF in its proper metering perspective.
      Hope this helps 👍

You will find almost any vehicle will suffer from heat soak when working hard for longer periods.
Only thing I can suggest is make sure everything is well maintained and the cooling system is clean and healthy.
      Plus always remember
In diesels more fuel equals more heat.
More boost and better airflow equals less heat and more power 🤙🏼

Hey mate! Nice work! I have a problem with finding the right size serpentine belt for my 2007 Nissan Patrol Y61 ZD30 Common Rail. Do you know the length? Car came with a 7PK1666 serpentine belt but im not sure if it is the right one or not. Car parts catalog shows 1637-1642 belt but couldnt mount the 1640 one, Not long enough. Thanks in advance! :)

    • @shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953
      @shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey bud
      Thanks for the kind words.
The belts on these things are painful.
As far as I know the genuine Nissan belt for crd is listed as 11720VC10A
Different brands use different serial numbers but as long as the belt you order is listed to fit your crd it should be the correct size.
When you say not long enough are you comparing it side by side with the old belt ( possibly stretched ) ?
Or are you having trouble fitting the new belt?
I have also seen some belt tensioners have a tight spot when compressed making it almost impossible to fit the new belt.
Ensure you slightly loosen the bolts on the tensioner when compressing to allow for easy movement and use an extended socket bar for better leverage.
I hope this helps in some way. I too have had belt issues on the zd30’s

@@shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953 Car came with a 7PK1666 belt(fits perfectly). Ordered a new Dayco 7PK1640 belt(from the car parts catalog) and it seems to be too short(not wanting to go over all the pullyes). It is the first Y61 CRDi model i own so i dont really know which belt is the correct one. One more thing is that i saw there are 2 different tensioner pulley sizes, 70mm and 86mm. One more thing i have noticed is that the normal ZD30Di (2004) alternator is different than the ZD30CRDi (2007) alternator). Is it true or the other owner just messed up with the belt and alternator?

Although I’ve been around my ZD and a couple other zd’s quite a few times I’m no expert ( not even a mechanic )
Yes there are different tensioner pulleys between the di and crd but not enough to make the belt size change or make it hard to change a belt.
You are also correct about the alternators. Yes there are 2 alternators in the Y61 but I don’t think it changed until 2010 ( to a smart alternator )

      Hey bud
I’m still loving my tune 12 months later.
I had to re adjust all of my boost control system after the tune because the tune changes the behaviour of the fuel system.
Mine was over boosting to start with as well.
I re adjusted it down to 22psi and have recently turned it down to 19psi and I’m finding that suits it best 👍

    • @shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953
      @shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953  Před 2 lety

So basically the ecu tune can’t really control the boost.
I’m not sure why they are not getting back to you as I don’t have a connection to boarder automotive I’m just another customer like you.
And yes I have the tillix and needle setup on mine so I have plenty of adjustability.
If you are running the factory boost control system I would suggest getting something like the tillix system asap.
I would try avoid long drives and heavy workloads until you get it sorted.
Running over 22psi long term is only going to cause drama’s with the turbo.

    • @shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953
      @shedbuiltoutdoorgear2953  Před 2 lety

No problem bud and yes in my opinion the demonpro is worth the money.
In saying that all of these mods are dependent on each other and will give you grief if not fitted all at the same time.
The ecu tune demands more air flow and boost, the demonpro setup flows more air and without the tune it will upset the ecu. And they all need fine tuning via an after market boost controller.
So if you follow you are best to do all or nothing.
My Di makes very reliable power and has no problem maintaining hwy speeds up hill fully loaded with the camper behind.
That’s all I wanted to achieve.

Hi Kylie, sorry about the slow response I have been flat out with work.
My Re4 trans has been rebuilt by JD transmission with heavy duty internals and a custom low stall converter.
The mod I'm referring to in this video though is the pump pressure regulator.
There are probably better ways to increase atf pressure but all it did was fit a 4K ohm resistor in line with the factory line pressure resistor that you find near the brake booster on the fire wall.
      hope this answers your question.
