He was ruthlessly to the point to the extent that you're completely disarmed in the conversation. I think it's pretty accurate that both sides of the force are more murcurial than they are perceived to be. The dark side is extremely intelligent, to a fault. The Empire had become the most efficient machine in Star Wars history but it's goals were completely backwards through never looking inward at itself or the individuals involved.
Palpatine is half the perfect dad couple him and yoda could've been (lul, women in star wars, they had a whole war without women being involved in any of it but they still managed to ruin the everything through the same old biological trope that was obsoleted centuries ago which says we should be selfish for the fucks of it all because that's how it used to be and vaginas and stuff).

Under all that armor and hate was ultimately still Anakin Skywalker, who was always quick to anger, prone to rash, often dangerous decisions and who was very prideful, even as a Jedi. When focused on a task, he was nearly unstoppable, but he also became very single-minded and blind to everything and everyone around him. He would ignore the larger picture and would instead focus only on what mattered to him, which was often little more than his desire to prove himself.
Palpatine didn't care about one Jedi. He cared about a factory which was of substantial importance to the Empire. And Vader literally had only one job... Go to the factory. Protect the factory. That's it. There's not much to actually do wrong, but Vader somehow managed to turn a simple assignment into a major defeat for the Empire, only so he could kill one beaten Jedi.

Yoda that was when he was first called Darth Vader, but as I see, he was only fully Vader when he “killed” his old self, as Kenobi describes on Return of the Jedi. He only did that when Padme died. While she was alive, he still had ties to his past, even though he was changed.
Also, Vader was seen as “more machine than man”. Anakin was far from that both literally and figuratively when he fought Obi-Wan on Mustafar.
If you want an aditional source, there is a comic where Vader has a vision where he is back to the moment of Anakin’s defeat on Mustafar. Vader fight and kills Anakin in this vision, showing that he was still not Vader on that moment.
But of course, that comic is canon while this one from the video is Legends. Not very good for a comparison.

Only Obi Wan, Yoda, and Luke remained. Obi Wan was of course gone in Ep IV, and only Luke knew that Yoda was still living, no one had heard a whisper from him since his failed attempt on Palpatine's life at the same time as order 66. Kanan Jarus was dead, and Ezra still missing, Ahsoka apparently also was quiet at that time too. Even though Vader knew she was still alive, I don't think he could bring himself to ever go after his old padawan. She had never hurt or injured him to the extent Obi Wan did, she left the Jedi on her own will, so there was no obsession over finding and killing her. So his obsession turned to crushing the Rebel alliance and then to Luke once he found out he had a son. Vader had to be obsessed about something. It kept him from thinking of Padme and all he lost of his old life. He would never be content to just run an empire and the mundane tasks involved with that.

It’s honestly hard to imagine an impulsive Vader based on how calculating and careful he is in the original trilogy, but then again this isn’t long after Revenge of the Sith where he was still the young and quick to action Anakin and yeah he had like 19 years to wipe that out, also...

Here he’s already a true Sith Lord and in his prime of running the empire with sidious and that he’s proven himself to be a true Sith Lord but in the prequels he’s still anakin even when he does his evil deeds I mean doing evil deeds doesn’t just automatically make him a Sith Lord it just means he has human beings of not liking anyone that makes him uncomfortable because it’s not like Jedi have to care about eachother only because they are Jedi and he hasn’t proven himself a true Sith Lord to palpatine in the prequels just by doing some evil deeds I mean it’s palpatine who basically gives anakin missions through out the prequels and it’s why anakin even becomes a Jedi in the first place that’s the point of the Star Wars movies and what they are and when anakin lost to obi wan that’s different than here I mean that would be more like the first time he failed palpatine as anakin but that wasn’t really a failure in the first place I mean palpatine knew it would or might happen and his mission wasn’t to kill obi wan on mustafar it was to wipe out the separatists which he knew for sure anakin wouldn’t fail at that because he knew it was as simple as anakin standing up from sitting down and as simple as killing insects so anakin can’t fail at that he would just do it like it’s nothing and palpatine was still the kind mentor he is in the end of episode 3 it’s just in this video it’s different because vader is already vader and in his prime of running the empire and killing the Jedi and is a true Sith Lord already and he didn’t expect vader to fail and this was a true failure because sidious needed those resources for running the empire

You're crazy. Anaking was always very compulsive and let his emotions dictate his decisions. Like when he took off in the starfighter in the first movie, or jumped out of the car in the second one, or killed all those sandpeople, or attacked dooku even though obi wan said to take him together, or when he cut Dooku's head off. Not very calculating at all really.

@@LordSStorm Vader was a calculating strategist and tactician in the Original Trilogy. During A New Hope, he had his Stormtroopers not shoot to kill, but to string the Rebels along. Then, he and Tarkin used their tracking device to locate the Rebel base on Yavin 4, and had Luke and Han not thrown a monkey wrench into everything, they might won. Similarly, in The Empire Strikes Back, Vader was not responsible for the failed assault on Hoth. Ozzel was, as he was too desperate for action or too foolhardy to exit hyperspace at the right point. He came in too close to the base and ruined Vader's plan. Bespin is an easy win for him. As for Return of the Jedi, he mainly failed because Luke got to him and his heart wasn't in it anymore. He lost the duel against Luke because he just wasn't trying to win. He didn't want to kill his son.

Legends is like George giving authors the freedom and direction to write whatever interesting, different ideas or approaches they had for the story, characters, factions, ships, planets and aliens they had in mind to create. Its also VERY big in terms of scale to the current canon that disney is making from the ground up. Here are some things that legends has (i know there is a ton more) the yuzon vongh war, abeloth ,the rakgoul plauge, jacen, jaina and anakin solo. the eclipse (massive ship that clone emperor has), emperor palpatine cloning himself, the story of the jedi master ikirit, darth nihlus, revan, malgus and krayt, durge and the mandalorians backstory and so much more.

Just started watching your videos. Thank you so much for the content, it's extremely enjoyable and well made. I'm embarrassed to admit that I had no idea that there was nothing more to the SW universe other than the movies. Keep up the good work!

Vader screwed up plenty but loved killing people under him for the smallest mistakes.
He didn’t prevent the destruction of the death star.
If I was an admiral he was giving grief to I would have called him out for it.
Screw it may as well expose the hypocrisy if he is gonna choke you

To be fair he was not in charge of the DS. Tarkin was in command and Vader was there as support, so he was not the one to blame when the DS was blown up.

B/B 17 as anakin/vader gets older he’s not like that anymore I think he learns from it and from that learning improves on how he can strengthen himself and he does like in the later year comics during the time of the original trilogy he wipes out a whole rebellion of rebels with snipers and heavy artillery just like that as if it was nothing so that’s what I mean he’s not the impulsive reckless younger person he used to be and as he got older it turned into cold hearted evilness and unlimited power that’s how much he improved and how much more powerful he became as he got older just by learning from his mistakes when he was younger but since he turned it around he became the opposite he in the original trilogy was deadly calm and fully submerged within the dark side being so fearsome and enraged and cold hearted so he turned all his recklessness and impulsiveness into all the dark side traits a true Sith has and that makes him more powerful and more of a true Sith
