@@Riverplacedad1 correct. I''m just explaining how it "works". Does it accomplish what it's supposed to ("working"), that's up to each person to form an opinion on.

@@claytrader no doubt about it. Those of us out in the field and see it first hand, tend to form different opinions than the general public. Still shake my head how on Earth we stayed in the ME for 20 years. Back in the days when presidents had done time like Eisenhower, they were more selective about what they committed our troops into. That’s been a long time ago

Proud Gen-X American here. I see your points. My counters are:
At the beginning of a battle, it is terrible military policy not to have an exit strategy. (That is: Beginning without having the end in mind.) And currently, as far as American aid goes, there is none in Ukraine or at least none that has been shared with the taxpayers footing the bill. When will our help no longer be needed, and who will decide when and why that is?
Further, it is verifiably true that a significant portion of our tax money meant for military aid to Ukraine has instead been stolen by organized crime and oligarchs. Another percentage of it has "just slipped through the cracks" and is unaccounted for due to bureaucratic incompetence on both sides of the ocean. How long are we citizens expected to allow them to rob us or lose our money because of ineptitude? And what should the proper consequences be for the political and military leadership that allows such things?
The misery of certain other parts of the world is tragic. It is also not our business. The capital being lavished to solve other nations' issues (usually without being invited or needed to do so) could be much more judiciously used to solve our own. Or shall we keep right on throwing rocks through windows so that the repairmen can get paid to fix them?
    Cheers Clay!

I agree with Trumps approach. Let the European countries pay their fair share. When Germany (the world’s 3rd largest economy) won’t even pay theirs, somethings wrong. Add to that I’ve watched our country ever since Vietnam go into conflicts without clear set goals or exit time lines. That’s simply ridiculous!

Although I am not American nor do I live there, badly allocated 95B stings even for me, but as you pointed out, that money will put food on the table of US citizens, so perhaps it isn’t such a bad deal.
