I always like the vloggy videos, it's good to see you just being yourself, rather than the having to be "the showman". It's a nice looking machine, and I'm with you too, I would go for one of the standard paint schemes if I was buying one. The standard exhaust on it sounds great, I think I would leave that alone. I'm not sure my back would take the feet forward position, but then again it's not the type of bike you are going to be taking a bazillion miles away either, although it's probably more than capable, so maybe if the seat and rear suspension is really good I might get along with it. Unlike the Zed though, where I bought that pretty much unseen, I would need several test rides on this to confirm one way or the other. I came off my Zed this morning, so I'm nursing a sore leg and back at the moment. I couldn't bare to look at the damage when I got her home. All my own fault of course, bad positioning on broken slippery concrete at a junction in the city. Luckily for me, it's really just my pride hurting and not much else 👍

Some of the best rides I have had are ones where I set off from rural Warwickshire with no destination in mind. Indeed only this week I set off one morning at 06:30 and by 10:30 I was in Swanage, Dorset. Enjoyed it so much that the very next day I did exactly the same again, right back to Swanage. Seems to make life worthwhile...

I share your love of the Speedtwin and bought the 900 chrome edition recently. I'm in my mid sixties and age and short stature have led me to this bike which is a departure and game changer from previous rides( mostly sports tourers) thanks again for the opportunity to share in your motorcycling fun from Canary Island tours to scran with Mike and Dan Cheers!

Hi Andy, love the vlog videos, it feels like it's the real you, loved the stuff about the bike of course, but equally as interesting for me was was the study of your microbes. Because the role the gut flora play as you obviously are aware of is huge. At 66 years old, for the last ten of those years I have kept to a Mediterranean diet and have been in fine fettle, keeping me riding and enjoying life to the full. So I'm fully with what you are doing hope it works well for you. Thank you.

Great to see you on the Speedmaster Andy. I love my Gold Line edition. It's been one of the best bike buying decisions I've made. Its going in shortly for its first service and I might treat myself to the mid foot control kit and see if I like it. If I don't like the mid control position I can always go back to the forward control position. That's all I plan to do to the bike as it comes really well spec'ed as standard as you pointed out. Love this video as I know those roads well. How lucky we are to live in Buckinghamshire!

Enjoyed the vid, thanks. Nice ride on a great bike. I quite like the times you (and other vloggers) get side-tracked into life/real world/philosophy etc it makes it a bit more personal rather than just watching the trees and hedges fly by. I like the helmet mounted footage, and the odd bit of rear facing to break it up, but I'm not a fan of the Insta footage at all. To me it's one of those instances where manufacturers do it because the tech is there 'and they can'. Just my opinion of course. Ride safe and be well! 🙂

The “brushed” alloy finish will polish up to a nice spangly glint. I use McGuiar’s metal polish on my Bonneville engine casings and it does an excellent job. Not even a smidgin goes on the chrome though. If I need an abrasive on chrome I’ll use aluminium baking foil. And I agree, the Speedmaster is a lovely looking bike.

Hi Andy, I am bit late commenting on your you tube vlog, but have been picking up on your Instagram posts which are equally enjoyable. Great to hear your comments on the Speedmaster Chrome. I treated myself to a Speedmaster Gold line for a big birthday and I too enjoy the laid back approach. I wouldn't go for the Chrome version for the very reasons you stated, Glare, Maintenance, Chrome depth etc. So glad I went for the Goldline. My only gripes really on the Speedmaster are related to ground clearance and super soft suspension, I have tightened up the rear but will have to thicken the oil at the front end to get it where I like it. All in all though a great looking bike that turns heads and gathers comments wherever I go - Great for the BRAND that we all know and love. VLOGS are top notch as always.

  • @gzk6nk

Keep doing the 'wittering' videos Andy - I for one really enjoy them. And thanks for doing so many vids on 'my' bike - the 2023 Speedmaster Chrome! I look forward to your getting one in your garage.
As I've mentioned, I have the SW Motech Legend bags on my Speedmaster Chrome which I transferred from the R9T I had before.
The beauty of the Legends is they have a quick release from the frames, and the frames themselves are inconspicuous when the bags are off. So in your position of multiple bikes, you just need to buy the pannier frames for whichever bikes you want to put bags on, and just buy one set of bags which can be swapped in a few seconds from bike to bike.
There is a rev counter on the bike BTW - it's a digital one in the speedo which you can select. I usually have it as the default setting on mine, just occasionally going to maybe the clock to keep an eye on the time, or the 'miles left in the tank' display.
Yes, you are only here once. It ain't a rehearsal. And life is really very short even if you are lucky enough to have a good innings it seems like about ten minutes - and the older you get the faster time passes as each year is smaller fraction of the time you have had to date. So don't waste it! That's why I flew aeroplanes for 35 years, mostly interesting ones like the Chipmunk and the Yak, with some absolutely amazing memories which most folk will never have a chance to accumulate. And I still ride bikes at age 74 and hope to do so for many years yet.
I'm amazed that camera company gives freebies to other bloggers but not to you - I don't want to blow smoke up your backside but I do consider you to be one of, if not THE, top bike blogger on CZcams.
As for the longevity of the chrome tank, so far so good on mine. I think chrome should actually be more resistant to scratching by jackets etc than paint, but time will tell. I'm probably more concerned about the chrome wheel rims and spokes truth to tell as they'll lead a harder life down in the muck than the tank will. And I think that red and chrome tank just looks Soooo good!

Thanks again Mr Flyer, for a great Vlog. I do like the occasional video like this, as when riding I 'whitter on' in my head about the things I see as passing. Do love a dog walker myself haha. Had a test ride on the Speedmaster a few weeks ago, even though I wasn't thinking of changing my Tiger just yet, and it confirmed to me that, hopfully one will replace it. Living in Scotland is also another reason not to get the chrome version too haha.

  • @paulyflyer8154
    @paulyflyer8154 Před 10 měsíci

I bought this exact red chrome model 3 months ago on a bit of an impulse as a different companion for my GS. Because of our rubbish summer I've hardly managed to get out on it as in wet weather the beemer's my weapon of choice. I was starting to think of selling the speedy as it's been a bit of a white elephant, but after watching this I'll keep it and hopefully we'll have a nice spring and I can get out on it.
The chrome's not been a problem and does attract a lot of attention I must say. The engine is a peach too but the engine gets unbelievably hot, and because of the forward controls my legs are constantly diagonally across the hot cylinders. One thing I'll never need on it is a heated seat. I agree with you about the brushed alloy covers. Mine are already looking a bit tatty after 700 miles. Oh, and whilst it's incredibly heavy, I thought it would be easy to move around the garden because it's so low. But no, I find it really hard work!

I remember my 1970 BSA Thunderbolt, it had the chrome fuel tank sides and the chrome just turned the corner enough to reflect sunlight into my eyes. I would think with the top of the tank being chrome would drive me crazy with reflections. Love your evaluations.

Thank you Mr. Flyer. What a lovely ride and you chose a great day for it. I've had the "Man-Flu" so haven't been riding my Triple. I think that Speedmaster really suits you and the fact you started waxing lyrical is proof of how comfortable you are despite your knackered shoulder and wrist. I'm sorry to hear how that happened I suppose it could've been worse? When you test ride a new bike which you plainly love I often think which bike would go to make space (Speed Twin maybe?)

Good video, good chat I would suggest go for the demo tech on the Kawasaki and check out the triumph leather and wax cotton on the speedtwin they are semi hard which would give better protection to what you would have inside they are simple to remove and fit you could also run a charging lead direct off your battery to them and it would look pretty indiscreet.

I am re watching your video on the Speedmaster. I own a 2023 Speedtwin 900 chrome and spotted the chrome speedmaster (same as you are riding in this vid) Its new old stock now and heavily discounted and I'm very tempted! My only misgiving is the extra weight and perhaps loss of agility.... mm. Thanks again!

SW Motech Legend panniers on my Z900RS are great. Look perfectly in keeping with the retro style and they don't stand out at all when I'm not using the panniers - the brackets are pretty subtle. Feel like real quality kit too. 👍🏼👍🏼

Your comment on the burnt out hotel reminded me of an old joke about three old men in Miami, Fla discussing how each ended up there. The first said business had been declining for some time and one night there was a fire that destroyed the business and he decided to take the insurance money, pack it in and retire. The second man repeated a similar story. The first two asked the third man what caused him to retire and he stated that business had been bad for some time and suddenly there was a flood that destroyed his business and like the other two, he took the insurance check, retired and moved to Florida. The first two looked at him and asked “how do you start a flood?”

Wonderful video review as always Andy! Sounds a lovely bike - but I'm probably going to replace my Street Triple with an early 1050 Speed Triple as I only have room for one bike atm. I also try and live healthily consuming a ton of vits everyday, C ,D3, E, Zinc, fish oil, and Lion's Mane mushrooms for brain health as well as as much unprocessed, natural food as possible. I also avoided the experimental gene therapy being hawked by Bill Gates. 63 and still going strong. The only use I find for my rucksack is during lockdowns for going shopping for milk or a loaf of bread.

Agree with you about the finish on the engine cases Andy…….should either be chromed, polished ally or black…….manufacturers use brushing as a quick/cost reducing method to finish metal parts to avoid the cost of proper finishing

Motorex Moto Protect works wonders on that brushed aluminum for light cleanup and preventing corrosion. At least here in the colonies (USA) we have a product called Mother’s Mag and Aluminum polish that is outstanding for deeper cleaning and polishing; wonderful on the Triumph exhaust headers as well.

I went with my 67 year old brother to a huge bike dealers in Nuneaton about a year ago. We sat on loads of bikes, but the one that blew us both away was the Rocket 3 (first generation). I could not believe how finely balanced it was. You could take your hands of the bars and move it side-to-side with your knees really easily. My brother fell in love with it nd bought it. As I say, he is 67. I have ridden it and never get any moments of panic due to the weight. I would heartily recommend test riding one. Oh, and by f%*k is it FAST.

I do like this bike. This and the scrambler 1200 XC, for the road, are my favorites. I had a 2022 T120 goldline green and gray paint, it was a beauty and a pleasure to ride I miss that bike a little. In fact I trade it for a bMW R nine T Scrambler which I do love a lot. So, that’s how life is. Sometimes we’ve got to let go a bike to get another that overwhelmed us. And that happened in this case, that’s why I don’t regret the decision taken.
I n respect to your wrist injury, in first let me express my wishes of a rapid recovery. At our age, when this things happen, it takes a while to get everything in it’s due place, but the good news are that we still can (in general) completely recover from it😉👍🏻
The regular speed master is already a beautiful thing and this chromed edition suits like a glove on a cruiser bike. It’s a lovely thing.
All the best and I’ll be looking for the next video . Thank you ✌️

Listening to you and Richy talking about diets, makes me want to watch some episodes of Bruce and Lamb Chops Big Hunt.
The best thing anyone can do to improve their health and fitness is to turn your garden into a vegetable garden or get a allotment.
My neighbours did this about 30 years ago ( maybe they watched to many episodes of the good life )now into their eighties they are fit as a fiddle and the quality of the surplus vegetables and eggs they had over the wall has converted me to growing my own.

I have had numerous bikes (and cars) over the years that after their sale I have wondered "was ownership worth the cost?"
All too often the reality has not met the expectation, though I suspect like many I fell for the looks rather than considering the reason I was going to buy said machine.
The biggest let-downs have been a Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar, and a Kawasaki Drifter.
Biggest "my god this is good" bike was without a doubt a Honda NC750X-DCT
Bike I regret selling the most was a Kawasaki Z1300. What a beast it was.
    Loving the recent content.
    Regards, Bib.

I loved the 800 Drifter, but never got to own one I've now got a NC750X dct 21 model and love, been looking to change it, but just can't find anything that really macks it worthwhile. Looking for that Unicorn bike! Tried loads and not found it. So at the moment I'll wait for Honda to update it 😅

I found the Drifter (1500cc) just tooo painful on my lower back to the point anything longer than 15 minutes riding was an issue. I have long since reached the conclusion that there is no 'one-bike does all' and now run 2. Ironically I have a 1991 Kawasaki Voyager XII (similar to your G-W) and a Gen3 Hayabusa. Still want one more machine and the NC is top of the list, although I could possibly get a Versys Thou.@@flexywing

Hi Andy, a nice looking bike even though i am not a fan of cruisers i appreciate the looks. you say that you are a Triumph fan boy and i am considering a Triumph Speed Twin for my next bike although only the 900cc model as i have only been back biking for 2 years so i think the insurance would be too expensive until i get a couple of more years NCD. i ride a tall rounder at the moment but find myself being drawn to the naked retro style of bike these days, probably due to me being in my sixties and they bring back memories of my younger days, I suppose i should just go for it because as my mate says You are a long time dead, so just do it if you want to, keep up the good work.

I had a red 2018 model, but I found after a couple of hours riding , my back started to ache a bit, if you were "pushing on" the wind-blast would cause your hands to slip down the bars, and I found things started to scrape way too early on corners and roundabouts---on refection, I should have bought the T120....Now I'm 73 in a few months, I shall be sticking with the X Max 300....mind you, that new RE Shotgun looks quite nice.....LOL

Thanks as always for giving your time to entertain. One thing about heath is to know your own body and pick out bits of advice that are relevant to you. There are arguments for and against loads of approaches but being overweight is never good as it puts extra stress on everything. For me cycling works but however you do it keep the weight off (and keep doing the videos!)
