Today I ride the Fantic Cabellero 700, After seeing a Cabellero 500 On my summer holiday in Italy I've been quite eager to give the bike a try. This Italian, Japanese fusion is a really Interesting bike and perhaps one that is overlooked or not considered.
In this review I talk about how this bike rides, on and off road; the handling, suspension, stopping power, engine and power, and more...

I've done 20,000km across southern Portugal on my Fantic 500 Caballero. It's a masterpiece for the Algarve and Alentejo hills and mountains. Interestingly, the 700 isn't selling well in Portugal at all (it's had mixed reviews), but the 500 single cylinder is still a strong seller. I just love it.

When adding fuel, the bike is on the left kickstand placing the right side of the fuel tank in the highest position allowing the most fuel to be added.

Hello! I had to smile when you stuttered about the manufacturer of the fork. 😂😂 But then I realized how old I am now 😎😎 Marzocchi was the benchmark in the late 70s and 80s. What Öhlins is today. Back then, the color red was a sign of top chassis, just like gold is today. Ask your father 😉😉 he probably knows them too. Thanks for the video...👍🏻👍🏻

I have the 500 rally. Bought 8 months ago to replace a Harley, I just fancied a change. The rally is beautifully balanced , plenty of real world power combined with light weight. It is solidly built and so enjoyable on all but longish motorway sections. The 700 is lovely and I'm very tempted but I'd like to see a rally version. Although there are a few sneak pics floating around of a spirit edition which looks amazing. Ive had bikes from all the big brands and Fantic certainly hold there own. Im amazed we dont see more of them on the road. Ive had so many people speak to me to ask all about the bike, more than any other ive owned.

I know someone who has 25 bikes including a Harley, a BMW GS, Multistrada, Yamaha FJ, Ninja H2, KTM Adventure, etc....and he loves his 500 Caballero Rally. That's been his go to bike. Says it all.

@@jedw9983 it really does. I've had cruisers, street bikes and sports bikes but the all around ability of that 500 single (regardless of where it comes from) with a lovely light weight is just brilliant. I wouldn't want to take long journeys across the country but if I needed to it'll do it. Everywhere else it's just a joy. Yes it has a few quirks but show me a bike that doesn't😉

I bought one and so far I am very pleased with it. The bike has had mixed reviews because it is more road focused than the very popular caballero 500, just look at the ground clearance on the 700. On the road it is an excellent ride, sounds great and really fun. It is quite expensive but the build quality and component parts are top notch. As you say it’s good for light off roading and dirt tracks. Another good review and I will be interested to hear if you have any follow up comments on riding the bike for a bit longer.

I first spotted the Fantic brand at a motorcycle fair here in Holland two weeks ago and the Caballero 700 was in front of their stand. I was immediately drawn to its looks. What a fantastic looking (and sounding) machine. Would really want to have one, but it's a real shame it's got a small fuel tank (13 liters if I remember correctly).

Fantastic channel; fantastic review, as usual 👍 I have owned an MTO7, XSR700, 2 first gen XSR900s, and have just bought a 2024 XSR900. No, I am not wealthy; I am broke because of all the bikes I buy, ride for 30,000km, then sell. Yes, I do have motorcycle a.d.d..
I can tell you, based on having ridden over 100,000km on YAMAHA CP2 & CP3 engines, that they do not disappoint; to decide between the 2 cyl or 3 cyl can be difficult, so buy 1 of ea, yolo! Sell a kidney, if necessary.
Gold Fork supporter here: still will give you a thumbs up on every video; unfortunately the Caballero 700 is not available in Canada, or I would have bought one already, but it is something to look fwd to if I ever move to a civilized country.

I'm glad you made this video. I'm looking for a bike for the Powys/Shropshire hills with a bit more power than my CRF250L. The Tenere is OK but at the limit of my reach and I'll definitely come a cropper on the mud with it. I've test ridden a couple of XT660s but they have needed money throwing at them. I think the 19" front makes this a better option than the xsr700 legacy/tribute but with a lot more reliability than a husky or even the 500.

Nice presentation. I had a look at, and a listen to, the 700 as I was buying my 500 Rally last summer. My personal preference is ofcourse my single 450 cc Caballero Rally, but I'd give the 700 a chance if I ever needed more power - but - not for any type of off road or trail riding. The 700 is simply too heavy and the 'dirt bike'-ish look is just that. Routing the exhaust under the engine never ever allows for any even half serious trail riding, the one and only thing beneath the engine when trail riding is a fat bash plate.

500 is lighter and more fun according the Neevsy. I have had the 500 scrambler on some rougher green lanes where I wouldn’t want the added weight/power of the 700. On bikes like this you sit upright like a sail which makes anything over 70mph damned hard work, making more power pretty pointless. I never really understood what Fantic were aiming at when they made the 700, for the road I run a Tuono 660, for tougher lanes an XT250 Serrow-Everything else in between suits the 500.
