@pharraway how well do u think this metal flake would look over black basecoat for 1 and then over brilliant blue. Painting my 05 civic black with front bumper, back bumper, spoiler, mirrors and door handles blue. Please let me no if this would look good for what I'm doing. Thank you for vid

I always use a suction feed gun when applying Metalflake to avoid clumping in the pot I put a few ball bearings in the pot and agitate now and then, it gives a better distribution of flake.

I'm 75, when I was about 19 I used Metalflake brand flake, it was real Aluminum flake, these new Mylar flakes are way better, more sparkle, with a Binks #7 gun, .086 tip and needle.
All the materials cost about $500.00. In lacquer, RM or Ditzler. "Shit" it was a lot of work.
Your doing a great job, keep it going !! Great Video

Another great video Pharraway you really make it look so easy laying the metal flakes but I would say you have to be careful to lay nice even coats keeping your overlap consistent to avoid patches or stripes but I've never used it so not sure tbh.
Is the intercoat clear just a normal clear solvent basecoat (basecoat binder) Pharraway? and can you add the flake into 2K clearcoat avoiding the need to lay the flake first then clearcoat 🤔🤷‍♂️ great to see you pop in on Tony's live chat last Friday mate 🙏🙏👍 John UK.

Second, did you spray 210 clear on it? only reason I ask is I sprayed that clear last week on a project to bury some graphics and I think I may have found my new go to clear. I have sprayed all the majors for a long time and mostly SPI but that 210 from urechem layed out really nice. I have to test it some more on some small projects before I commit to laying it on a complete car but overall I was very pleased.

There are a lot of ways to do this process. With a large heavy flake there always a chance of sanding through and exposing the flake while trying to flatten it out. This is just the safer way to handle it. Again, plenty of people spray it all in one sitting, nothing wrong with that.
