Atlas F Missile Silo Willsboro NY - LCC Lower Level

- Atlas F LCC Lower Level now accessible. As part of the permit requirements I need keep records of the GPD pumped and also for interest I record the water level each day too. So that had been less each day for the past week and last night I realized that that is probably due to the water dropping in the silo access tunnel. A 2 hour trip downstairs added lights to the Lower LCC and cut some more of the weld on the escape hatch.
Opening the hatch and getting some forced ventilation going will soon dry the place out ready to paint and carpet right.
Wow. I thought I took on crazy projects but you take first prize in that contest. I would LOVE to reclaim a silo, but my budget would never keep pace with my impatience to just get it done. I can't imagine the cost of buying, draining, gutting and restoring or reclaiming the space for new uses. Kudos to you and yes, I subscribed. :)
Very cool. I'm in Vermont and have visited a few of these locations. Fun to see what was underground.

I believe there are 10 of these atlas silos in upper NY
I used to live by some titan missle silos in arizona. One by my house they halfassed the concrete pour when they decommissioned them and you could crawl down the main shaft and get into the actual base which was partially full of flash flood water and mud.
By now, i would think that mother nature finished the process and its just packed to the brim with mud/flood debris.
Much better condition than I would have expected.

Oh this is so cool, turning this into a house or bnb? It's in pretty good shape all things considered. I'm a former minuteman III IBCM maintenance guy and I absolutely love the silos and the LCCs and such for that site. The Atlas has always fascinated me, it was way before my time though. Still really cool!
Living space first and maybe bnb latter, have to see how time goes as there is so much to do here.

You do realise the amount of asbestos that was used in those old silos?. I hope you was suited up.
