Epic layout! I just did a dark start with Ada soil for 3 weeks and planted it a week ago. No algae and water is perfect ready for fish (still going to wait a few more weeks though)

I can not wait to try this method for the first time in my upcoming Iwagumi tank 🙂🙏

Doesn’t bacteria need light to grow? Also when i have too much light in my aquarium i start getting algae everywhere

Fortunately the nitrifying bacteria do not need light to grow. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to live in your filter.

HONESTLY, using a Twinstar Steriliser in new setups means no new tank syndrome - then you can remove it once the tank matures 🤷 ✨✨

Sadly I never had such a magical experience with the Sterilizer

Did you add any water conditioner? Or did you just fill the tank and turned on the filter only?

What if you’re running a UV such as Oase cleartronic? Can you bypass algae and diatoms in a new setup?

I've never worked with UV, so I really can't speak on that
