    Through my following of the lessons of Rob Skiba and Zen Garcia, the old Aramaic targum had the phrase “Word of the Lord” 270 times in the OT, from Genesis 3 itself, which the KJV most times changed it to just LORD, meaning YHWH. Knowing this helps you appreciate John 1:1 even more. The Person who was doing all these things, was none other than the pre-incarnate Lord Jesus Himself, Yeshua who is also YHWH.

      As a Christian of Jewish origin I say that when my father Avraham saw the Lord God YHWH manifested in the flesh, I mean the episode narrated in Genesis 18, he knew very well that he was before the One True God manifested in the flesh and this also applies to all manifestations of God as מלאך־יהוה or the Angel of YHWH. My fathers, the ancient Israelites knew that the מלאך־יהוה was YHWH himself and did not believe that he was another “person” or another “hypostasis” and one of the many examples of this also emerges from Judges 2:1-3. And verses such as Acts 16:6-7, Romans 8:9 and Galatians 4:6 when compared with verses such as John 14:9, 2Corinthians 5:19 and Colossians 2:9 clearly demonstrate that the Lord Jesus Christ is God the Eternal Father manifested in the flesh and in fact also from the comparison between 1 Timothy 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 8:6 in which we read that the only God is the Father we understand that the Father manifested himself in the flesh and the Bible teaches that he is the Lord Jesus Christ God the Eternal Father manifested in flesh. And that the Lord Jesus Christ is God the Eternal Father manifested in flesh also emerges from the comparison between John 2:19-21 and Galatians 1:1. Do not believe in the false doctrine of the trinity believe in the True and Only Lord Jesus Christ the Eternal Father God of the Bible, God of my fathers the God of Israel.

    Grace and peace from the Lord Jesus Christ and from God our Father. My testimony: I believe in Jesus Christ. The reason I believe in Jesus is because I heard God's message about Him, preached from an authorized King James Version (KJV) book of His Word and His words. After hearing the message, I believed it. God has faith His blood is propitiation for my lifetime of sin, and I too believe His shed blood pays for my sins and the sins of the world. After believing, I turned back to God. That's what it means to repent. And after turning back to God, I put my full trust and faith in the shed blood of Jesus and in what He did at the cross. I am fully persuaded, just like Abraham, that God, who cannot lie, will do everything just as He has promised. I declared and do declare His righteousness, and He imputed it on me, a believer in Jesus!
    My testimony includes what justifies me to stand before God. It matches Romans 3:24-26.
    Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
    This is what you need to hear before you can turn back to God:
    2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
    Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
    Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
    Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
    Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
    Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
    1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    1 Timothy 3: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
    Romans 1:18-3:20 classic.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=rom.+1%3A18-3%3A20&version=KJV
    If you have read all of the above, you can now believe and turn back to God, trust Jesus and declare His righteousness. I pray to the one true God that you do.

It is also not what the scriptures teach. They do not teach that God became a man and died from being crucified. Rather the scriptures teach that God is an immortal spirit who cannot die. Scriptures teach that the Son came in the flesh, was pierced (crucified), died and was raised from death by God three days later.

    Honest question; if our word "angel" means "messenger" then are not all these passages simply talking about a messenger, speaking for God, with all of His divine authority, not necessarily about God Himself, personally being present? Otherwise, you do have a contradiction in Scripture where it says, "No man has seen God" yet many have seen and interacted with His "messenger." If the "messenger " is in fact, God, then many have seen God. It really does seem that it is a bit more complicated than conflating the "angel" with the Person of God.

      You can think of it as "no one has seen God AS HE IS, that is, in His FULL GLORY." The "angel of the LORD" and Christ Himself, the former being the pre-incarnate Christ (Son of God, who is God), and the latter being Jesus of Nazereth (Son of God in the flesh, who is God), have, as you say, both been seen, so one would think there is a contradiction. But Scripture also says that ONLY the Son of God has "seen" God, and that He has "revealed" God to us (that is, in the flesh, a way we can understand). Only Jesus has seen God AS HE IS, that is, in His FULL GLORY, because He is the only one who has "come down from heaven." We, too, will see Him as He is in our perfected bodies in heaven, when Jesus presents His bride (us) before Him.

Numerically I mean not distinct in will.”

      Great discussion!
      Some of my two cents worth: “our word ‘angel’ means”... I think the Hebrew word מלאך means ‘messenger,’ but when the Greeks translated the LXX, they placed many different Hebrew words in the “translation blender” and out came the “Angel smoothie”- kinda like one word fits all- except that it doesn’t. We need to have the Ancient Hebrew in our head AND do a little “de-Greece-ing” in order to grasp the truth in Scripture. It takes a lot of work on the part of every individual seeker.
      Fortunately, Mike Heiser has provided incredible insights and tools to help in the process. Everyone taking part in open and honest discussions like this is also helping to sharpen one another. Thank you 🙏

    However, one thing I've always had trouble with is understanding why the Angel of the LORD passages count as the Angel being a separate being, but also God?
    Why is it not just that the Angel is representing God as a prophet (like how the prophets speak in the first person as God) and, due to proximity and being the chief commander of God's army, he asks Joshua to take his sandals off to show how big of a deal the Angel is? I don't quite understand how the text is suggesting the Angel is actually Yahweh? It seems it can be read as the Angel representing Yahweh just as easily?

      To put my question more succinctly: Dr. Heiser talks here as if the passages show the Angel is separate from Yahweh and also is Yahweh. However, when I read those passages, I can also see an alternate interpretation - that the Angel just speaks and acts as a prophet and the commander of Yahweh's army, which gives him ability to speak for Yahweh in the first person and consider the ground around him holy, to mimic the burning bush. Why is Dr. Heiser correct in reading the passage as saying the Angel is actually Yahweh?

      Not sure what texts you'd use when studying the crucifixion, but in the Gospels in the Christian New Testament, it's pretty clear that Jesus is not the Father. He prays repeatedly to the Father.
      Any time He prays, it would be to the Father, for who else would He pray to? Specifically, though, Matt 26 shows Him praying to the Father before his crucifixion, and Luke 23 shows Jesus praying to the Father as he is being killed.
      Conversely, if Jesus was the Father, how/why could He be praying to anyone? That forces us to say there's one greater than Yahweh.

This Angelon Auto goes on to say he is the "Alpha and Omega" (has the Name of HaShem in him just as the Angel of Exodus 23) and is "Yeshua the Messiah and the Root and Seed of David." Joshua bowed before \Shtiko Lyphaneka to the Angel of HaShem in his encounter, and this is the same language \ word used for people that Shtiko \ Bowed before David and Saul and the rest of the Kings; this is giving Honor to One in Authority Michael. All sustenance ultimately comes from HaShem, but He can send His provisions in many forms. Yeshua, when challenged on making himself into G-d, corrects his accusers with the alternate usage of Elohim used in Psalms 82:6, that he is a Divine One \ Elohim, as Samuel is also described as an Elohim in 1st Samuel, and is the "Son of G-d"-- he was declaring his Messiahship and that he was One \ Echad \ in Union with the father just as he requests that we all be One \ Echad with the Father G-d in John 17. Also if you read revelation it's said it was Michael and his Angels that fought the devil and defeated him. Also Michael will be the one to rise up in the last days to wage war against the devil and his army too. Michael is like the angel commander.

      Show me in the KJV version bible, we're the word Baal was ever translated into the word 'LORD'. Please read the context of Jeremiah 23 and see that the word name is about the character of God, which is the Word of God, and Jesus's name is the Word of God (Rev19). You are not saved by pronouncing the name of God (we don't know how to pronounce God's name) you are saved by the blood of Jesus and receiving His Spirit to reform your character to be more like Him. Jesus said there are two great commandments 'Love the Lord your God' and 'Love thy neighbour'... Not how to pronounce the name of Jesus correctly

To understand that there is God the Father and His only Begotten Son, and that they are two separate 'Persons' is important to know, there is a difference between the Father and Son, they are not One being manifested into two or three coeternal beings. Scripture says there is God the Father (who is also the God of Jesus, as Jesus proceeded from His Father John 5:26) and there is the Son of God who came from His Fathers bossom.
      However scripture does say...
      Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;..
