It's a little sad that Leech is so hated in the game because he's portrayed as a very sweet person in the media that I've seen him in.
Imo the yondu change is a downgrade. Now it has very low chance of destroying impactful large cards. Sometimes if my opponent plays yondu and hits my low cost card I'm happy because it makes chances of drawing my win cons higher.

Right? It also used to hit important key cards and they used to retreat instantly. Yondu was my most played card last three seasons, in conquest was very helpful and disturbing for the opponent. I guess it opens combo for yondu-cable but sill not the same
Yondu was not a serious competitive card in any context, I think this change is literally only meant to massage the feelings of bad players who would get upset when their "win condition" got deleted.
The only time I saw Yondu was to either reduce the cost of Death(no change) or buff Knull (massive nerf.)
@@coltsfan354 I run Yondu in my loki deck and it’s a huge nerf. But since it affects destroy i’m okay with it.
Cable was my pet card at 2 cost, because it's a fun effect, and I could afford to waste a 2 power play on it, but at 3, it just got too unwieldy. So from a fun perspective, this is a great update!

Best thing about leech change as a Thor enjoyer is that if I can throw priority into the matchups where I expect leech, I can still draw and use the hammers with Jane foster.
Every time I've gotten Leeched when I had a sweet play ready for Turn 6, I just took a break from the game for a few days. I've been running She-Hulk Moongirl all afternoon and having the time of me life.

This patch is a testament to the fact that Second Dinner is superb at balance their game. Leech went from one the most obnoxious cards from the game to a sweet tech card. Professor X got indirectly kind-of-nerfed with the Time Stone change. And they tried to redistribute the roles of some cards that saw almost no play. Finally, my beloved Elsa is back. I just love it.

Was hoping for a hit to soul stone, maybe have it just be an on reveal minus one to an opposing card there like high evo wasp
I'm glad to see Elsa go back to her original mechanic. She was one of my favorite archetypes when she was good, and it sucked when they Nerf her. Basically made it so that most of the powerful decks were just about putting out large cards instead of smaller cards that can buff up.
I'm excited about cable lol it has always been one of my favourite effects.

Yes!!! I am very happy for that leech nerf. Still potentially playable but it doesn't randomly hose things like darkhawk or knull.
I think the time stone change is a smart nerf. I feel like it still has the same thematics of warping "time" but it definitely helps lessen the consistency of certain lines in thanos that feel really strong like time stone into hope summer on turn two. I am also stoked for the elsa change but its going to be interesting to see how she performs in the three cost slot.
I am imagining a turn one kitty pride, turn two kitty pride and one drop, turn three hope summer, turn four elsa and kitty pride. Great review as always Jeff!
Kinda surprised there weren’t more changes to Thanos. Might take a full rework to make him like this, but I like the idea of actually playing Thanos instead of him just sourcing the stones and barely ever being played
eh. That Yondu change is upsetting. It was one of my favorites. I now understand why I couldnt at least once target higher cost card in opponents galactus deck...
Really like those Time Stone and Leech changes. Shouted for joy about the stone. Elsa will be more fun. Feeling good today!
I just made a High Evo Leech deck like two days ago which was definitely the final straw that led to this nerf even though the patch was set up a month ago. Very okay with that change.
Also as someone who dabbles in Thanos I actually really like the TIme Stone change. But then I already kind of played it as a gamble if the card I wanted to play wasn't in hand on time. So looking at it from that perspective it's practically a buff because it makes the 1 energy cheat permanent (ignoring Mobius, natch).
Also also I want M'Baku to be playable so badly. The "to your lowest power location" is a mixed bag of a qualifier unless you're consistently playing for all three locations. Probably a slight buff to C2. But they really should make it pop out of your hand like Angel. If it did I could see it finding a place in a deck with Okoye and Nakia and similar effects.
FINALLY I've had so many cards at red border but never want to upgrade them!!
Other plus, Leech doesn't wipe away the one turn wait for Infanaut anymore.

It might be too strong (and too much text) but M'Baku needs something like "Can't be normally drawn, at the end of the game this card jump from your deck to your lowest power location.", until then I can't really see it being anything else than a meme card

It's kinda funny that Elsa released as 2/2 with +3 and is now a 3/3 +2, what a change, and it's still really good.
The time stone buff is really nice. You dont feel so conflicted playing it on turn 1
Hopefully this takes some wind out of Thanos, been top of the food chain for a long time now.

I can't fathom why Mantis doesn't give a buff to the card it steals, it's just objectively Mirage with less power and a chance to do nothing for no reason.
I'm wondering if the Yondu change is in prep for Baron Zemo next month to make it a little more likely to pull a decent card.
It was spelled out in the video - lose priority (and possibly combo with DD) - and Mantis can now give you a 3/18 Venom or 5/8-to become-16 Black Panther, or whatever. It's fiddly, but this Mantis definitely has a far higher ceiling than Mirage.
not sure how much better this leech is. ya its only on reveals. but it also does it prior to turn 6 if ramped into turn 4. also arent on reveals like a super big % of the cards in the game. feels like a + for a - to its hatebility. remains to be seen. i rarely want nerfs. even to leech. but i wont lie. its really the only card that makes me rage. no other card do i actually feel angry when i paly against it.
more importantly though. YAY FINALLY BORDER CHOOSING. this has been for me the most wanted feature. im OCD. having different frames or frames that dont match was pissing me off lol.
Steller breakdown. I hope Leech gets a little more power, he now seems like a good card in Ronan since you can add cards with Mordo and Maximus and remove potentially more targets. Is 5/3 too little on this affect when your play is hopes of Ronan in comparison, that will be the question.

If Mockingbird cost changes in the deck, Yondu is a good way to kill her for people who don't own Mobius.

Yondu is a nerf in my eyes. Yes he was hella unpredictable before. But I can't tell you the amount of times I'd hit the infinaut for a 20power start to my Knull on turn 1.
I was very much looking forward to the Custom Card Feature but I am dissapointed in the Feature as it is right now. I want to combine all the effects I have unlocked so far. But with this system I am only able to change the Border. There are 4 Backgrounds with 4 Effects with another 8 Colors making it 128 variations. With 32 Border Effects and the 4 Backgrounds their would be still 36 Unlocks remaining for each Variant, more than anyone would ever be able to for each card. But 128 Infinity Upgrades for each Variant is way too much 😔 Why not just let us choose alle the unlocked effects individually

Because this request makes getting perfect splits trivial, which reduces end game engagement.
Honestly I feel like it’s exactly how it should be. If you have a variant split that is perfect your discouraged to upgrade it because it will ruin the border. This allows you to progress that specific variant in splits will be able to have a custom card with a matching border or plain border the way they like even tho they have continued to upgrade it. As far as wanting to take a rainbow krackle off of the crappy foil and put it onto you inked variant just like that bing bang boom no way. That would completely take away the value of actual pulling a good split. I have a super rare Angela with gold background gold krackle gold border that is a perfect split. If all of a sudden Timmy down the street has the same thing because of that customization I’d be pissed and so would everyone else that got the perfect split on the 20th slit.
@@justinfaith2322I've been playing consistantly for over a year now. I am sure there are people that play way more than me but my guess is most people play significantly less than me. The most splits I have on a card is 10. I might get to 36 somehow but I will never in a million years get to 128. I personally have no incentive to try to get a split in for example ink with perfect sparkle effect color if I need to split it 56 or whatever times for that.
@@KuneMaster I understand that I’m in a similar bracket (CL 12,030) I started playing as soon as is was available to the public I believe the most splits I have is a killmonger at 14 splits and I’m still hunting for the inked rainbow krackle. I’ve got that combo on one other card but I’ve wanted it for the damn hoop killmonger since before they even put the artist name on the variant. If I could customize that card exactly how I want it then honestly i probably wouldn’t even bother because people would have fully Inked krackle decks instantly

She was incorrectly listed this week shortly. Has been moved to next week with Cannonball.
The thing I appreciate most about the Leech change is it opens up new design space for a card that targets different effect types down the road
Do we know for sure that Yondu works well against effects like Negative and Pixie? My understanding is that since it says "lowest-Cost" with a hyphen and a capital C is thst he cares about base cost, not current
I love the leech change, instead of being a toxic hate card, he's a proper tech card that isn't nearly as bad. Would love to see Alioth get a redesign with the same philosophy. I haven't really been enjoying Marvel Snap nearly as much as I used to because of Alioth. He might not be an omnipresent card but it feels so so so shitty to get Alioth'd to the point that I'm just like yeah okay I'm done for the day
Fully agree. The play rate is actually fairly high - 33% or so.

Yeah like maybe him a 4/5 or something and just hit one card. Or keep him at 5 and just hit 2 (3 at most) cards. Always thought hitting every single card was just stupid.

dammit, I was hoping they would un-nerf Adam Warlock so I could play it in Negative again - the way it is now, it'll see even less play than before
Curious what people & Jeff, in particular , would think about divorcing On Reveal from other keywords like Discard & Destroy. The enablers all seem to be On Reveal as well. Or is it good that something like Cosmo can impact all enablers On Reveal, Discard, or Destroy versus requiring counter tech to each.
I think only stopping on reveal is already kind of narrow and making it for one mechanic is even more so.
Now all we need is an alioth redesign
Mantis is a cursed card wich, every change they do, is for the worse. One of the few interesting things the card did, was "stealing" a card from the opponent's. If the card had few play, now it's gonna be even worse, worse on reveal, worse statline... the rest is kind of ok.
I really hope at some point they make Hela’s effect have a cap of power like they did to Blob

Who the fuck plays Yondu at all? It is so funny to me how people complain about changes to cards that see ZERO play. Iterating is good here.
Mbaku is not a strict upgrade, I would say in fact it is a nerf.
For him to make a difference, he would need to swing the game. For that to happen, you would need to be losing two locations, and m'baku would need to swing one of those, while only having 2 power, and jumping to the WORSE of your two locations.
This literally means he only swings the game if you are either in a draw, or if both of the locations you are losing, you are losing by 1 power.
Damm you Leech this patch is to kill you, not to resurrect you.

I would argue Leech does not play a meaningful role in the game. I would MUCH rather be beaten by someone pulling off their very cool Turn 6 popoff then this guy coming down, kiboshing any chance of fun, and being followed up by an 18 power Hulk. It is predictable, boring, and directly anti-fun.
