You might be able to make those Blue Kreg clamps. Fabricate a plywood puck that rotates on a dog-sized dowel. Just be sure drill the puck's hole 1.5" off-center. Snug the clamp to the work object using your hand; to lock it -just strike it with your mallet. Good luck.
That rope hold down technique is brilliant. I love how easy it makes "active" work where you're rotating a piece, or doing multiple pieces. I don't have a use for it yet, but I'm excited to try it out when I do.
*kneeling and wailing 'I'm not worthy!' repeatedly!* 😂 😂 😂 Seriously, you have some great ideas and that rope trick was really clever. Can't wait to see more!
Good stuff. I just noticed that a wooden broomstick I had cut off for another project is exactly 3/4" in diameter. Perfect for cutting up into bench dogs 😀
I'm a newb woodworker just getting into the trade and I found all these videos on how and where to drill dog holes but couldn't find any vids on how the dog hole accessories work. Finally came across your video and now I understand them perfectly. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the ideas, I will be using some of those ideas in my shop, with prices going up as they are I've been making thing instead of buying. Thanks again.
That was simply the best dog hole related video I’ve ever seen. And I’ve watched tonnes! Thank you so much - I’ll be busy making some of those this very afternoon!
This is one of the best videos for DIY dog hole accessories.! These are perfect. Exactly what I was looking for! For the conduit holdfats to work properly, what is the recommened thickness of the bench top ?
Glad I found your channel. I really like practical things here, great content. I wonder if you could say the wall diameter of the conduit for those holdfasts? Now that this vid is a year old, have you had any problems with the conduit bending or deforming at stress points? Thanks for taking the time to keep us posted on what you're up to!
Outstanding, Zach! I've been very dissatisfied with model of vertical dog-hole clamps that I own. I've broken four of them so far and was about to give up on the idea until I saw how you were able to make a very similarly-functioning one yourself. I think I'll give that a shot! Oh... and I love the PBR shirt. :D
Awesome man! Glad it was helpful! Nice to pay it forward to someone who’s given me a lot of good advice and entertainment throughout the years! Cheers bud!
You are one of the most innovative folks I have seen on CZcams and that is saying a lot. Can you tell me if you used a jig to build your dog hole bench. I just “purchased” … which even surprised me … a huge Husky roll around tool chest that has a wood top that raises / lowers. I would like to drill dog holes in it to mirror something like you have. Thank you in advance and best of luck to you.
Off subject but what apron are you wearing and how do you like it(comfort- pocket layout)? In the marked for one and like looks of yours. Great video!!
do you have 20mm or 3/4 inch dogholes for the conduit to fit? I'm going to start drilling my dogholes but am torn as to which size to drill - 20mm of 3/4 inch! I'd rather be able to build DYI stuff like you did using conduit
Love the holdfast. My sons filled my boots with marine epoxy as a gag. Now I can make holdfasts and the contact surface will be the fine leather over the steel toe. The steel toe is rather given the strength of the epoxy. I'm going to try to use the beautiful laces to set and release. The heel of the boot will tolerate a mallet, but I wouldn't want to mar the nearly new leather on the back of the heel, would I?
Okay, not for nothing, with today's technology there is no excuse for people posting videos where the audio is not in sync with the video. It is annoying and I have to move on to another video. It is to bed because the subject seemed interesting. Check out John Heisz's video on the bench dogs he made. VERY cool the way they function.
Most youtubers would have made a 28 min video out of all the ideas you presented here in under 7 minutes. Thanks for keeping it real!
This is fantastic… keep up the innovation. This video is criminally under-viewed!

Miter saw hold down clamp in dog holes!? Awesome tip!

Great video
Awesome video! For the hold down clamps around 01:50, how do you attach the conduit to that wood base under the clamp?
Very Helpful
Very Creative! Will 3/4" dogs work in a 20mm hole?
WOULD BE NICE TO SEE HOW YOU MADE THE COAT HANGER DOG CLAMPS ???????
how do you attach the conduit to the blocks of wood? these are all awesome ideas!
Off subject but what apron are you wearing and how do you like it(comfort- pocket layout)? In the marked for one and like looks of yours. Great video!!
Top tips on using dog holes. I am assuming you used metal conduit for your hold fasts. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks.
why did you use conduit that was so long on the toggle accessory?
Well done...

Some good tips. How do you like your worm drive mitre saw?
It’s ridiculously loud and dust collection is horrible but for an outside job site saw it’s awesome

lol that's love right there!
How far apart are your dog holes ? Looks like 3/4” holes. Is that correct ?
What size holes in table top
