Mine has to be Skeledirge, surprisingly enough. His defensive profile, with both Unaware and Torch Song is just too amazing to just flat out ignore and he can certainly punch above his station. While he's a great fighter in UU, it can still do fairly well in OU with enough planning and Ubers without much effort either.
@inspectorspinda H-Typlosion could have gotten a ton of small buffs compared to what it has now. It's Attack should have been lowered instead of HP and especially Speed. Infernal Parade should have been slightly stronger than Hex rather than slightly weaker. Yeah that makes it just straight up better than Hex, but Hex has an infinitely wider distribution so it's whatever - if Last Respects and Rage Fist can exist, then another situationally 140+ bp Ghost type signature move can also exist. Frisk is extremely niche in Singles, and literally has no use in current VGC, so a different standard Ghost type ability like Insomnia, Cursed Body, or even Pressure would have been better for it.
I used to run a max HP and Atk assault vest feraligatr back in Gen 6. He was a perfect check for half of OU because he could take almost any super effective hit and either 1-shot or bring low and Aqua Jet almost all of the really scary sweepers.
This video undersells Feraligatr. Dragon Dance + Sheer Force + mono-water makes Feraligatr a much better Gyarados offensively. Gyarados has more presence in VGC though thanks to Intimidate. Either way it's a genuinely good Pokémon and blows the other two out of the water.
As far as people can see, Empoleon is holding on decently well in OU so far and in Doubles, is better because of it having Competitive and Intimidate as an ability is fairly common to see in Doubles. But Torterra likely won't survive OU for long. Even with the amazing move of Shell Smash, it's still too fragile to do anything truly worthwhile. But in UU or so, it may definitely have a shot because of the relatively lower power level.
I've seen a lot of Enpoleon in VGC in recent tournaments, and with how prevalent intimidate is (some teams in the Beast coast Safari were often using 2 intimidate users per team of 4), I can see it and Milotic having a decent presence, even in spite of Ogerpon.
nah Torterra dropped to UU and it honestly it might drop even further to RU ( where it will be good imo ) considering that half of OU also dropped this month . Empoleon is still in OU but it's literally hanging on by a thread , i think it barely made the cutoff at around 5% ( for a pokemon to drop it needs to have less than 4.52% usage ) and most of that usage was probably pure New Toy syndrome and it will very likely drop to UU next month where i think it will stay

@@crawdaddy2004It's just more fun for me. That's basically the entire reason. The playstyle allow you to be more comfortable with defensive plays, and I myself prefer sitting and enjoying the game this way than making reads continuosly like in vgc game.

Funny thing is that meowscarada most of the time does not even use protean. It uses overgrow. This is because it’s so frail that it often holds the focus sash, meaning it is often on 1 HP. The added versatility of protean does not really matter because it just wants to use flower trick most of the time and not much else. So overgrow helps that while protean does not.
Sa-naito with Synchro and any neutral Nature is the best leading Pokémon to hunt for the best starting Nature. Ralts can evolve to Kirlia to Sa-naito by leveling up.
Me, personally, while I do like basketball shoes and sneakers (not enough to call myself a sneaker head), I can’t bring myself to justify spending more than $200 CAD on a pair of shoes; I would only spend that much on a pair if I *REALLY* wanted them, but that’s rarely ever the case.
Just today I had a Link Battle where my Battle Bond Greninja swept through five of my opponent's Pokémon until his own Life Orb and poison damage took him out. He was simply too strong and fast for the opposing team. Protean may suck now, but I honestly don't see why some people think that Battle Bond is ruined. So what if Greninja can't switch anymore, if it can take out even one or two opponents after the BB boost, it's usually worth it.

Doesn't it already do pretty good with a Terrain Seed gotten from a Terrain Setter while having the ability Unburden to double up speed and become a fast bolt?
@GoinGreninja it's a pokemon that is clearly built and designed to be a physical attacker with special attacking stats, the only reason its a special attacker is because moves like leafblade and dragon claw were special attacks back in gen 3. The special movepool is absolutely garbage, and gamfreak refuses to do anything about it, no calm mind, no nasty plot, no earth power or thunderbolt, just realiant on focus blast (i despise focus blast). Terrain seed doesn't do much when its special attack is mediocre with no decent boasting moves to back it up. pokemon should either boast give it some boasting moves for the special side or, at the very least, swap its physical and special attack. Then, sceptile can become a great force with access to the funny swords dance scale shot (white herb makes it funnier). That will never happen though so just give it calm mind or something.
@@machspeed20 That is true. Its stats really don't flow with its movepool. So hopefully when it comes back in The Indigo Disk, it at least learns one good set-up move and a coverage move. That in itself could help it a fair bit.
Interesting to see your perspective. I don't do competitive battling, but I do a lot of raids in Gen 9. The Kalos starters in particular I see very differently (I'm not disputing what you are saying, just coming from a raid side of things) - but Chesnaught is amazing as it can belly drum, it is grass/fighting, it can use drain punch, it can finish with wood hammer or close combat after it teras (if it even needs to). Not good for every situation, but just the one I need sometimes. My Delphox is set up to use mystical fire and light screen, as well as nasty plot (or sometimes skill swap) and blast burn for once she teras. She has a clear amulet, which helps with her witch theme as well as allowing her to avoid debuffs and tons of damage (a handful of raid bosses try to slow you down so they can flinch you or some other similar strat, if they can't slow you down they will still keep trying to with a rare chance of actually attacking, don't tell the devs). She is situationally extremely good, with her special defense support. She can survive against a lot of special attackers that are strong against her (I used her as much as I could against the event Hydreigons and Hatterenes before the Mewtwo raid, notably using dark pulse and earth power). You could even do a psychic build, mine is all fire. Greninja I do not use, he dies too quickly and protean doesn't really offer that huge of an advantage with his moveset when you can choose someone else better at whatever he's trying to do. Also protean only works once in gen 9, sadly. I'm not saying he can't make it through a raid, but I would not pick him tbh. I have seen a lot that have not made it through a raid. It is hard to salvage things when your timer is constantly getting drained by a Greninja dying each turn, it turns into a race sometimes. I doubt most people look at it the raid-focused way I do so I thought I'd share, thanks for the informative video!
Agree with everything except Kanto. Mega Zard X / Y > Mega Venusaur. Bottom tier at Singles? You kidding me? It was on a lot of teams. Same with GMax Zard.
Fool Chuck Norris wqould have Magikarp as his starter and then beat the E-4 with a team of Magikar, not because he caught 6 magikarp but because he roundhouse kicked his starter and it broke into six fully grown Magikarp.

Sceptile is nowhere near 4 time in a row OU swampert.
Edit: with a significant role in Gen 9 OU
Gen 3 charizard in singles was good
Poor Meganium.
Me hping sceptile gets a torterra level buff (its not happening, im on copium).
As a Torterra stan, if not the upcoming DLC (which we don’t know yet) I suppose you’ll get your chance…….another day
Doesn't it already do pretty good with a Terrain Seed gotten from a Terrain Setter while having the ability Unburden to double up speed and become a fast bolt?
Blastoise is KING
Dude are you ever going to get Venusaur's damn name right?
they did my boy inteleon dirty in gen 8 :( ig the ability is fitting to the design but other starters in gen 8 got way better ones
Tbh if middle east comaptitve pokemon did not take off and is played casualy here
... Empoleon won a world championship in VGC xd
Fool Chuck Norris wqould have Magikarp as his starter and then beat the E-4 with a team of Magikar, not because he caught 6 magikarp but because he roundhouse kicked his starter and it broke into six fully grown Magikarp.
