I’m thankful. Some days can be better than others. Yesterday I had a bad day that kept me inside. So today I want to be outside where I belong. We drove to Sebastopol to walk a trail. But we got flooded out. From there we drove into Sebastopol to get coffee at Taylor Lane Coffee at The Barlow.
Since the weather was so nice, we then drove over to Ragle Ranch Park at the edge of town.
And we finished out the day by stopping in at Retrograde Coffee Roasters for a cup and a bag of their Milky Way coffee blend.
Today I had lots of time outside, lots of great weather and lots of terrific coffee. I’m awfully thankful.

My name is Scott and in 2015, I bought a Ram ProMaster City to live in. Even though I didn’t know much about RV’s and campervans, I set about building the van out as a minivan camper. And in April of 2016, I moved into my minivan full time.
Over the years, I’ve learned you don’t need to have a big skill set to build your own campervan. And that living as a minimalist and utilizing solar power can be a less expensive way to live. I’ve also learned that a minivan can be a very comfortable home.

I see your reasoning for liking your small van. I like it too. A van tall enough to stand up straight in would be a good reason for one if I was interested in changing. I live in a tiny pull behind camper. One of the redeeming qualities is I can stand up in it.
A small van is really good for insolation in winter, meaning less heating is necessary.
Every time I watch your videos I crave coffee. I bought two bags of Groundwork coffee and I’m addicted now. I’ll never be able to go back to kcups. I’ve learned a lot about coffee from your channel . Thank you
Sorry about your k cups!
Me too. I bought a bag of Ethiopia groundwork coffee from Whole Foods .
Scott, you are responsible for my new coffee snobiness.
@smokesignal8 I’m ok with that
A man I watch on here was in LA he is from England ( like me) he said the coffee is much nicer in the states, not as bitter and smoother.
Love your stuff, man. Always real, always genuine, not trying to put out any phony persona. Finally, a real person who chronicles the ups and downs of van life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks Archie

Could you do a video about hygiene related matters? How hard is it to stay clean living in a van? Do you have access to a toilet? I’m considering van life and am concerned about getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom for example. What do you do?
Much appreciated!

When it’s crappy outside I try to find a public library or a gym to walk on the treadmill but I realize it’s not to inviting when not feeling well. The sunshine definitely improves the mood. Hope you feel better Scott ☮️
Its amazing what folks are doing with minivans these days. Thanks for showing us around.
Welcome back Spring. Warm and sunny in Humboldt today. 🐢🐩🐶🐕🌺🌊😎🌲🌻
Laughing at the disdain for sit-ups “No, just no.” I agree with your feelings on this. 😆
Walking is great. Exercising, not so much
@@StaticCamperVan agree. I have migraines and walking outside is my exercise and therapy but any type of aerobic exercise is a no go for me.
Hi scott the van your in now seemed to fit you well and I agree days your not feeling well everything in arms reach is a plus. Hope you're still saving up for a new van
Good for you going with the flow for the day. It worked out well! Thanks for the chill video as always.
Thanks for coming along
Bless your heart, I appreciate your camper van life that you share with us! What business is it if you want a small van, the “they” bother me so I feel you!😊 Anyway keep up the videos & your wonderful coffees! Yum! Coffee is my only vice if that’s a word to use!😁💜
Good thought turning stickers into magnets - I’m going to use that one. 🤓
I just love your lifestyle Scott. You've really found where the happiness is! 😊I sat outside for hours today listening to birds and journaling. It truly is the small things isn't it!
Nice to hear that you had a good day.
Thank you! Your videos always remind me how to have one no matter what.

Wow you got a Free cup Coffee Awsome 👍
It's good to be thankful❤
Thanks for taking us around, Scott! A few years ago, I had a Pro Master City and loved it. Take care. ✌️💛😊
☕️✌🏼
I'm a minivan man like yourself. Bigger vans are less stealthy and are getting harder to park without gaining unwanted attention. Cheers from Vancouver Canada.
I’m anti-stealth. I’ve not even attempted to be stealthy for almost eight years now. I want everyone to know that I’m in van
Scott just lost me… I’d always had them impression he was discrete as to not get the knock to move on… 🤔 maybe he’s be sarcastic
@@Zorazora1234 I’m not being sarcastic. This is something that I talk a lot about in my vlogs. “Stealth” doesn’t exist so there no point in trying to be “stealthy”.
Trying to be stealthy is not only dangerous for us but it causes others to wonder what we are trying to hide
👍🤩💝 I wish I could drink coffee the way you do. Coffee triggers migraines for me & it keeps me awake for many many days. 😂

I’m all stocked up on coffee now
I’m going to go to Sebastopol tomorrow to get some of that coffee. I could almost smell it.
Which one? Or are you going to both places like me, haha
I think I will go to both. I really should do caffeine free but I need at least one cup a day with the real stuff.
Sounds like you're in coffee heaven. 😊 Have a good evening.
Thanks Sharon
Was pleasantly surprised to find Yellow Bird here in VA! They only had small bottles so I bought two and I like it.
Cool, glad to hear it
Yay! Grocery Outlet for the win!!! 🥳👍🏻
Awwww Scott, SOOOOOO sorry about your flooded out trail...a true bummer!!!
We never know what life is gonna throw at us at any given moment so I guess it's just best to roll with it, ducking and diving along the way. Lol🙃

Awesome scenery ❤. Looks like a beautiful day for a hike.. too bad the trails were too soggy though..
The rainy season is almost over. We will get back out there on a dry day
@@StaticCamperVan Love the sound of rain and the fresh air that it brings. Dry trails are much more welcoming that's for sure.. lol 😏😬
Never thought about putting my stickers on magnets! Love it
Beautiful area! ❤ sweet! Thanks Scott
Remembering to be thankful is a good thing.
The white mini van is a good fit, you appear comfortable and content.
Enjoy the talk about coffee brands and blends, so many choices.
The walk was tranquil and scenic.
I saw Yellowbird for sale at my local REI, was surprised to see it there. Glad you're enjoying SR!
I have started to do much more walking Scott and have have lots so much weight. Thanks for taking us with you ✌️🙏🚐🤟☮️
✨🌲🏞️So very delightful! A full day well spent. Yes, I agree that trail that was under water was better left for another day. What captured my viewing was the sky with so many the fluffy white clouds, really lovely after some days here of seeing grey fogginess. As I pause here I'm listening as rain is just beginning, a gentle rain... Sweet evening to you 🏞️🌲✨
Thanks. Those clouds were amazing
That storm that came through out there was a monster.
Guess I missed it somehow
@@StaticCamperVan it hit Truckee hard that couple in their TBM couldn’t get a visual on the runway environment was flying the missed approach procedure ran into severe icing stalled their plane and crashed. Out here in Tucson it’s been raining for the last couple of days pretty steady.
Oh, yes I saw some video of that. That’s quite a long ways away. Our weather here was the exact opposite. It was warm and sunny
Also I love Sebastopol and I used to do that Laguna hike a lot- you’re right it doesn’t get too crowded
Not being crowded is a big plus

Great video Scott that was a beautiful park you were in I love it. Your right I want to be outside as much as I can no matter where you live big place or small. Lots to see and explore. I am so tickled that you are in the Bay Area. I don't think I've seen any other vanlife CZcamsrs filming here in the Bay Area ((I'm in way too hot Contra Costa). I love Santa Rosa (well, the entire Northbay)! Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Hi Scott
Yellow Bird is in KROGER.I got q couple for myself and son. OMG, it's so good.I ❤ the serrano more. Kroger had trail size bottles maybe 2oz for $1.00 on sale regular price $2.99. Excellent recommendation
Thank you 😊
Glad to hear you like the Yellowbird. I used to buy it at Fred Meyer but it seems not all Kroger stores carry it
We also have Museums,Trains, Yats 👍🤩🇺🇸☕
Nice video, Scott. The environment looks beautiful. Incidentally, your van looks great. Best wishes from the San Francisco Bay Area. -Tim
Best area of Santa Rosa is East SR toward Rincon Valley. Sugarloaf State Park or Annadel is a popular hiking area.
First time viewer. Very nice little video. You have a nice calm presence. I admire people like you who blaze their own trail. Be well.
Thanks June
Completely agree on the minivan! I just returned from a spring break trip and got nearly 30 mpg in my little Transit Connect. I couldn’t manage 4 states in a week if my mileage was half of what it is. Love your constant hunt for great coffee! The inside of my back doors are covered with stickers of my adventures with (my van) Tommy!
30 mpg! Those numbers make a lot of us jealous!
Thanks Scott! Another fine video.
Actually Wal Mart Carries it! LOL! and a good price too!
Most Walmarts carry Yellowbird but not all do
I just ordered a bottle of Yellowbird on Amazon and it cost me $20 but watching you use it for so long I just had to get it! Pretty pricy here in Canada though!

Oh my! I sure hope you like the sauce! We need to find something similar up north.
Good to see you, Scott. Always love your videos!
Thanks. I hope you’re doing well
@@StaticCamperVan I am doing great! I have spent my whole winter in Florida at the beach!
Small vans are great! But it seems that all the car companies have discontinued their small vans. 😢
There’s still lots of vans on dealer lots
@@StaticCamperVan that’s good. I don’t know why they aren’t going to make them anymore. I see lots of small businesses/contractors using them. 🧐
@@glennk.7348 it is curious
It's pronounced like Costco, except the co part would be pronounced toe, and the stress is on the second syllable😂, so CosTOE. ❤ the small vans. Unfortunately, it seems many of the models are being discontinued.
I love that you’re spending time here in Sonoma County. I’ve worked and lived here 14 years. A new adventure calls tho, soon I will be living in Asheville, North Carolina. I leave with many great memories, especially In Sebastopol, Petaluma and Guerneville.
Best of luck with your move east. Supposed to be a great place out there.
Hello Scott, I think weather can affect mood in general and motivation. It certainly helps my attitude to be outside and get fresh air. I don't mind a little rain even if I walk with an umbrella. I feel less well in cold weather. Its hard for me to stay warm even if I wear layers of clothing. walking while enjoying a hot mug of coffee helps. I like seeing you prepare a hot meal. Your goods preparing eggs amped up with your Yellow Bird. I like dark bread and like the way it toasts best. Having things you enjoy make you feel better. Its well worth the money spent. I'm sorry you have lingering health issues. Pain is very distracting. I understand that it is a struggle to be focused and enjoy things as you normally would when your feeling confined and more sensitized to the symptoms of your health issues. I am comforted by my heating pad and essential oils. When I'm back on my feet I walk !ostly groomed trails. if not outdoors than I go to a mall. Our malls open for walkers early before the stores are open. I enjoy that. I just put in ear buds and listen to comforting sounds like ocean waves or a crackling fire. I sometimes think about what vehicle I would get next if something happened to my Chevy express. I really like what I have. I hope that I don't have to put another engine in it for a long time. Parts for chevys are easy to come by and so are remanufactured engines. So I'm planning like you are to stay with the type of vehicle I have. I can change out things in my van and it seems new again At least new to me. Can life agrees with you. I'm happy for you. You seem happiest when your walking to a favorite coffee shop. Thank you for sharing.
Those Chevy Express vans are great
😂i found myself laughing in agreement. Walking/hiking for me is a leisurely stroll and contemplate nature.
I would never have noticed that YellowBird stuff but for you, and now I see it in my local Whole Foods.
Maybe one day I will get the courage to buy some. I am not a big fan of hot and spicy. I do like the
refrigerated Havens Kitchen Golden Turmeric Tahini they sell there which is expensive, but very tasty and not burning spicy hot. Turmeric
& tahini are supposed to be very good for the health ... anti-oxidants I think.
We have Yellowbird in my Local Jewel Grocery store under 4 dollars
YellowBird can be the nickname of your new van. Just an idea when you buy the van
@@cumberlandquiltchic1stealth doesn’t exist. That’s not a term we use here

Scott is actually a secret millionaire who lives in a mansion and the van is a prop. He owns several coffee bean distribution centers and uses a subtle marketing strategy to plug his brands.

Enjoyed your video of my area where I live here in Sonoma. It's lush and green after all this rain we had. Great time to be here. I do feel lucky to live in such a great area with great weather. My favorite coffeehouse probably in all of Sonoma is Hardcore Espresso in Sebastopol. I am an espresso drinker and I love the dark strong roast and it's a funky, fun outdoor place. I want to get out onto the road full time in a small teardrop. I have health issues too and it's good to know that someone is doing it despite the challenges. Is that a salt candle in your van? Do you use it for asthma? Help?
That’s simply a salt lamp. I use it as a night light

Walking on trails, then getting coffee. If you could only walk a trail to coffee!
Hmm, that would be good
I think your van is a good size since you present with a small frame. That size wouldn't bother me at all if I chose the van lifestyle.
Your car might be a bit too small to live out of. This is simply an observation, not an attack
@@StaticCamperVan Mine would definitely be too small as I have a Mini Cooper.
Sebastopol, ah. I recall the short train that ran down main st twice a day amongst the traffic. Try going west 16 miles to beautiful Bodega Bay through very pleasant country side.
I just recslled that you had mentioned engine and transmission issues. A friend of mine owns a Nissan with 80,000 miles and just had catastrophic transmission failure. After some back and forth with Nissan, they are replacing his transmission even though it is out of warranty. Apparently over the last 20 years or so, Nissan has had judges order recalls and forced Nissan to extend warranties to 120,000 miles due to their widespread engine and transmission issues. Apparently consumers have protection under the legal concepts of 'implied warranty' and 'fit for purpose'...very good to know!
Great news for your friend
To me, east African (Kenyan, Ethopian) coffee tastes like light roast even if it's sold as medium roast. It's my favorite.

And to froth milk my Gaggia Brera will do a good job to do nice Lattes.
Nice! Sounds like you are going to be having some fun making espresso
Buc-ee's sells Yellow Bird hot sauces, for those of us in Texas and the southeast. I tried it a few years ago because of SCV, and yes it's great, and now I'm never without it. I like the serrano flavor the most too, these days, but the ghost pepper and others are an excellent change of pace.
Trader Joe’s used to carry Yellow Bird and then they stopped, maybe the price in the North East. Then it became available in Walmart only in a smaller size about $3.99 a bottle. Loved Serrano but now I’m hooked on Blue agave Sriracha, can’t get enough of it. I still see it at Walmart all over the country..👍
I never shop at Walmart
