May favourite watch of all time, I had one for years and it’s seen and been through a lot, keeps insanely accurate time and it’s a lifetime watch for sure..
Great review... At least the G100 has some lume! Too many G Shocks don't! It's a classic, and that's why it's still being made after so many years - tough, clear readable dial and basic useable functions. The more complications there are the more stuff to fail and go wrong!
Thanks so much for the honest review. No bs is much appreciated and you get “it”! Ima make this my daily and preserve my much more expensive shiners in the process. Cheers!
I've just stumbled across this video. This was my first g shock, had it about 15 yrs (can't remember exactly) untill the batt died. Did have to replace the strap during that time. Got very beat up. Replaced it with the gd 350 1ber. On it's way out, hasn't lasted anywhere near as long as the first. Can't find a better replacement. Gonna go back to the G100 I think. Not as mant features as others, but I just need one that will take a beating and tell me the time. Plus the face isn't too big. Great vid.
Just bought mine today! Got two other G-shocks, GA-100 and GA-140, both of those are bigger but keen to use the G-100 as my daily watch and the others will come out for other occasions.
I wish I never sold mine after 8 years I’m feeling nostalgic for it…I always wanted a big gshock after seeing one for the first time and ordered this cause it was cheap but it came smaller than I expected. I was disappointed but also happy to have a gshock and it was my daily beater for like 8 years. The way it felt on my wrist is still imprinted in my head In hindsight this design is so beautiful on the watch face compared to other gshocks. I was finally ready to buy a big g shock but might just buy another one of these
@@NZotyoka81 yeah thats fair. i ended up getting a random limited editing g100 from ebay from japan lol. some baseball team the hanshin tigers. so where it says casio it says "tigers", and its all black not black and red. love it but paid a lot more than walmart one, but the ugly colors is why i got rid of it in the first place tbh
I wore the G-100 working in a car garage every single day for 5 years I never left the house without it on my wrist I pretty much put it through hell it's still working like new aside from a few scratches but I liked it so much I had to buy another one to wear as my everyday watch lol 👍🏻
I've had one of these for 15 years or so, I had the usual problem of the strap falling apart, the battery is still OK but the backlight has given up because the battery is so old. But is a great watch
the same here, might be the first high quality watch I have been given by my parents when I was at 6th grade. Now it needs a repair to get back to its previous shape.. :D
thanks - can i swith the strap to army strap too - cf well how easy do you change your straps on the GShock !? are there any differences between the various GShock-models: are there out there some models that are very easy to fit - with new Straps!? well i love to switch between various straps: heard about various sets of straps: a striped Bond NATO in soft seatbelt quality or an elastic band in the Marine Nationale style (with red “center” seam) are also worth considering - nothing stands in the way of a lively band change: love to hear from you
I bought the G100-1BV (this specific watch) because its tough/ durable, simple, and it looks beautiful with my dress uniforms and BDUs. For a military watch, the G100-1BV (red), G100-9CM (yellow), and the G100BB (matte black) are good watches. It looks and holds out like one.
@@thewatchverdict still my beater but I have since added a windup/automatic seiko and a casio g-shock ga-b2100 to the collection. Thinking about a casio f91w next just because it's a classic.
I have the same model, I bought at Walmart for 50 bucks, 14 years ago! Still on the original battery, and wear it almost every day. I have worked in a high security prison for 15 years, and it’s still works the same as it did when I bought it. I’m guessing I will have to change the battery out once, maybe twice before I die. Lol
I really love how this watch looks, but I will never get one unless they make a solar Bluetooth or multi-band 6 version. It doesn't even have to have solar necessarily, but they always pair that together with their G-Shocks that set themselves automatically.
Mine is 7 years old and the battery is still holding. People talking about over 10 years battery life. The battery change is really easy and you can get a cr2016 battery anywhere. Multi band is not huge deal for me. Once or twice setting the time on it in a year is not a problem.
Just bought mine second hand on Vinted- the case is bust to pieces hence the £15 price. I’ve ordered a new replacement Bezel for £15 so in total a classic Gshock for £30 is a steal for me ❤😊
I have this watch and it is one of my favorites. But I don't think the crystal is plastic. I don't think Gshock makes any crystals that are not mineral or sapphire.
The only issue with mine is that it gets condensation on the inside of the glass when you go out into the cold. Apparently this is due to it being assembled in a non humidity cintroled environment. I contacted Casio twice and never got any response at all so was very disappointed with their lack of support. Also, even though the H-Set button is recessed it still can get touched during tough jobs and forwards the hands slightly. This is very annoying as the hands will only adjust forwards and not back so you have to forward through 12 hrs. Otherwise a good watch.
Thanks for sharing that! I wasn’t aware of this, I have taken mine to the snow and it’s never done that so it might be luck of the draw but something to be aware of. The hand setting is a bit annoying though. I wish it would go off of the digital time, like if you set that the hands would move accordingly.
@@thewatchverdict I remember reading that it depends on where the watch is assembled. I think Casio out sourced the assembly of some of the watches and several models suffered with this. I only get a problem if I go out of the house for a cycle first thing in the cold and the inside fogs up. Like you say I may have just been unlucky. Great review 👍
They sell some on eBay and Amazon, and apparently they are OEM straps. I’m not 100% sure myself though because I haven’t purchased them. But they have a lot of reviews on Amazon.
I don’t think this model has that function but I could be wrong. I didn’t read that fine print manual. I don’t think anyone does. We just press the buttons and find out what it does.
What is your pick for the best beater watch?
This is my beater. Love it. Couldn't be more perfect for everyday use.
This one is my beater watch, 12 years and still running perfectly. Same battery too.

hold down the h set button. the minute and hour hands adjust together

Did you had to change the battery ? How did you do that?
No, actually I haven’t had to change the battery yet. Doesn’t seem like it would be to difficult, you just have to have the right size screwdriver.
I’ve had mine since 2013, still with the original battery.
