How Many Grafts Do You Need for Density?

- One of the most asked questions is how many grafts per cm2 do you need for density. Is it 50, 60, or 70? Well, more isn't always better. There are a lot of factors that go into creating a dense hair transplant.
Factor #1 Hair Shaft Diameter
The biggest factor is the thickness of your hair shaft. If you have fine hair, even if you get many grafts transplanted per cm2, it will not look the same as someone who has thick hair and had fewer grafts transplanted. Unfortunately, the surgeon can only work with what God gave you.
Factor #2 Graft Placement
How the graft is placed will determine the visual density. If the grafts are angeled perpendicular, the scalp will be more visible. However, if the grafts are shingled, even a small number of grafts will give visual density. Surgeon selection is crucial.
Factor #3 Donor Density
Even if you have 50 grafts, the number of hairs per follicular unit will determine the density. Someone with a dense donor may have a lot of three-haired and four-haired follicular units. They will have more hair, even with fewer grafts than someone with one-hair and two-haired fu's.
The best way to determine the number of grafts you need and your hair quality is to submit as many consultations as possible. Feel free to submit your photos to one of our approved and recommended surgeons below:

Most of us aren't millionaires, so we have to consider our finances when looking into hair transplant surgery. If you're gonna have a hair transplant, do it right the first time. In general, searching for the cheapest isn't a good idea. There are good affordable clinics, but you need to research. The best place to research is on our forum, the hair restoration network.

Incredible work you’re doing here, it’s so helpful to get answers like this from the world’s top surgeons.
We’ve got a lot more to come. We’ll be talking to Ron Shapiro MD and Dr. Josephitis Next week on our Instagram.
@@HairTransplantNetwork I would love to see more from Dr. Konior if possible. I can't imagine how valuable his time is, but he has a great way of explaining things.

I have a few more clips with Dr. Konior, arranging this very difficult. He’s regarded as one of the best in the world. Next week, I’ll be having an Instagram live with Dr. Ron Shapiro, another legend.
All the points you and the Dr's made are valid about varying factors at play yet the final comment that what matters is hiding the skin and the contrast is the final truth on the matter. Even with multi hair or high caliber grafts if the spacing or angle is wrong the person will still look bald. So while density per sq meter does matter it is not the ultimate determinate of the quality of the result.
Exactly
Hey bro please make a video on oral minoxidil and its side effects
We are fighting for a sea of grafts. Hair line so densely packed it is stronger than 300 Spartans!
🤣 you’ve already won that war
Make a detail video on oral minoxidil
I will
Have you had SMP mate?
No, just hair transplants.
First!
50.000 for hairline mid scalp - to crown on Norwood 7 would be enough
50,000 grafts? That’s impossible
Second
Bosley ruined me. I look worse 😫
Have you contacted any other surgeons?
@@HairTransplantNetwork no. Do you recommend anyone. I live in the Austin, TX area.
Dr Pearce in Austin, he is the best
