Great guide, enjoyed it a lot despite been playing since launch. One thing i would have liked to know since the start is that u can search ur merc book by "new" and "upgrade" really useful specially when ur collection starts to get bigger.

3:50 I'd like to add a bit: Arcane Bolt is rarely ever used in PVE and PVP (only to ignore Trigore). When he comes out of the bench (I assume you fight a boss if you have losses), use Greater Arcane Missiles. It's a 60 damage, or a 120 damage if you combo with Tyrande.

i actually found a crazy combo with brightwing + guff instead of cookie in the starting comp with double bird buddy bonus ability you can just stomp your way to end game, fill the 3rd slot on the bench with someone with 3 abilities with "even" cooldowns and ive gotten my mercs to 150 atk 200 health pretty quick and cleared all of BRM on heroic. but this also means no bonus abilities at boss = reset

Thank you for the guide, I have just started and it helped me a lot. I have noticed a lot of changes since you have recorded this video. Are these comps still good? I am doing Winterspring now and notice that some bosses are a bit difficult specially on heroic, do you plan any update? Great thanks for your hard work!

Cariel, Xyrella and Samuro carried me until Emperor Thaurissan if I remember correctly. But then I hit a brick wall that made me even quit for a while. Later, when I took up the game again and got Malfurion from a pack and thus the Nature Comp going, I blasted through most of Blackrock.

is there any advantage to not max your mercenaries party slot like 4/6? if there isn't, is there any recommendation / tips to fill out the empty slot?
Hey OG, thanks for the guide. I've recently encountered a bug that doesn't let you complete task 12 e.g. for Ragnaros, or whatever task that requires you to kill x in 1 turn using an ability. Not sure if you have had the same problem since your mercs are already maxed out. Wanted to bring it to your attention since there is no news for a hotfix right now from Blizzard's side. Appreciate your vids. All the best.
There are problems with several tasks that require you to kill 2 minions in a single turn. It is a fairly recent bug, appeared this month. Blizzard is aware of it. I do not have a schedule for a fix. I hope it will be in the next patch, but I do not know.

Thank you for the guides, they help a ton! Would you recommend crafting malfurion using coins to get nature comp online, or is it better to just wait it out and wait to pull him?
Depends on how many packs you plan to open, but yes, Malfurion is one of the safer crafts. Crafting a Merc means you will need to play with them more to max them, but that is not a big issue for Mercs used in regular PvE comps. You can max Liferoot Staff equipment and the first ability with coins from Malfurion tasks and then start to work on the other abilities.
Yes. If you have the coins already, I recommend crafting any merc. Once you have them in your collection, you can start getting random coins for them from bounties (especially if they're in your party) and can do their tasks. Malfurion is absolutely essential to the nature comp in PvE. I'm not sure about PvP, as I don't play that mode.

Not at the moment, no.
I wanted to level some nature comp mercs and I used this guide, but my guff's bramblethorn totem gives a battlecry effect instead of add extra damage to living bramble, is that a visual bug or do I need to level the equipment for the extra damage?
It was changed. The old equipment effect is now baseline, so you already have it! Guff does not have any great equipment right now, they all make only a little difference. I like the taunt one.
Hello Old Guardian! Im a new mercenaries player and your videos have helped me a lot! I have an issue with unlocking the 3rd Millhouse Equipment (Arcane Powder) although i managed to lvl him at lvl 30. I have done some research about unlocking the 3rd equipment of mercenaries and i read that i have to do some heroic bountries, but after i did nothing changed. Is this maybe a bug? Thank you so much for your help and sorry for my bad english :D
You have to have the Mercenary whose equipment you want to unlock in your party when doing the Heroic bounty. Which bounty you need is specified in the equipment slot. However, Millhouse is from the first batch of Mercenaries, who did not have any equipment that unlocked that way.
Millhouse's equipment are unlocked by leveling him to 30 and by completing his task 2 and task 7.
Arcane Powder is the reward for leveling Millhouse to 30. You need to claim it in achievements! So, navigate to the main Hearthstone screen, before even entering Mercenaries, open the Journal at the bottom, and go to the Achievements page. You should see your unclaimed achievements right there.

Should you have one of each class on the battlefield? Does it make a difference?
No. You want to use favored roles when possible, but it is rarely great to have one of each on the board. There are even mono role comps that do fine against their counter role.
Doesnt Antonidas work better then yu'lon in the Fire comp? Ofc balinda is choice numer 1, but I Didn't have her so I used Antodias, Fireball 5 Deal 16 fire damage, 5 speed
The damage from Antonidas is usually not a big deal whereas the bonus health from Yu'lon can save a Merc. Antonidas is still usable in Fire, but there are now three Mercs that are stronger for that spot: Balinda, Yu'lon, and Chi-Ji.

Antonidas is not better but it can be used with good results. If you somehow unlock Baron and Rag and have Antonidas lying around you can put him to work and upgrade the comp later with the other stronger options presented by Old Guardian.
Chi-Ji is outstanding in a fire comp. I never use Antonidas because Chi-Ji just power crept him out of the game. If you don't have two of Balinda, Chi-Ji or Ragnaros, then Antonidas is a good substitute until you get one of them. I've never actually tried Yu'lon in a fire comp, so I guess I'll have to check that out to see how it performs.

I happened to get enough tokens for Malfurion, and now I'm running Malfurion, Brukan, and Guff, with Cookie sitting on the bench for appetizers, but I keep losing mercenaries while climbing in Alterac Valley, what should I do?
Nemsy is a Rare Merc that was released after this guide was made. If you equip Boggy with the piece that reduces damage to adjacent targets, Nemsy will be a great fit for the team. Nemsy/Malf/Brukan and Nemsy/Malf/Guff both work. That would be a direct improvement with a fairly common Merc (Rare is the lowest rarity).
Other than that, do you have Liferoot Staff on Malfurion? That piece of healing gear increases the survivability of the comp a lot.

For Nemsy, do I just spam Boggy Blast, with Erupting Fungus if the enemy Attacks (because Boggy has taunt)
and what should I try to level up? I'm thinking Bog Moss (take less damage equipment), then Boggy Blast (first ability), then Erupting Fungus (second ability)
@@MitruMesre Bog Moss is super important, it makes the other Mercs live. Nemsy is always protected as Boggy is summoned to her right, so you position Nemsy on the far left. The positioning of your other Mercs can change depending on the opponent: Malf next if you face Casters so they cannot crit him, or Brukan/Guff if you face fighters so they cannot be critted. You will often find a way to protect others with Boggy.
I rarely use Erupting Fungus. I usually use either Boggy Blast or Bogonomics. If the enemies attack into Boggy, Bogonomics on Boggy can help it grow quickly to both survive and deal damage. Boggy does not always have to attack! You can do nothing on Boggy sometimes to make sure it stays alive.
when should I use guff over brukan? or is it just whichever happens to get a treasure first?
@@MitruMesre They are quite interchangeable. Bru'kan is a little slower but will deal more damage over three turns or more. Guff is a bit faster at the start. I have played the comp with both a fair bit and I'm still unsure which one is better. You can try them both to see which style you prefer.

my Bramblethorn Totem is different
The old totem was added to the baseline ability. Guff's current equipment matters only a little. I prefer the Taunt ability boost equipment, but doesn't matter too much.
Dropping by early to let all the new folks who come through here, Old Guardian is going to be your new best friend while getting through Mercenaries content. ;)
Something I've noticed about speed ties: If you make a mistake on the order of which ability you want to go first, (like if i press samuro 4 ability before milhouse 4 ability) you need to change ability to a different one (like i select samuro 5 speed ability then change it back to 4) and then back to the original one so that the game does the speed targeting correctly. I've had turns in PVE where I change my mind on when I want an attack to land and the game will say 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. but then play out wrong.
Is this mode dead? I’m a new player to Hearthstone and I really enjoy it so far.
Blizzard sunsetted it in February 2023, so yes, it is fairly dead. There is still a small community on Discord focused on the infinite Mythic Boss Rush mode, but with no new content for more than a year and none coming, people have been leaving it behind. It is a fine game for what it is and you can have some fun times with it anyway. Many of the quality-of-life improvements were made shortly before it was discontinued, so it is in the best shape it ever was.
