It's funny because they just nerfed the heroic barrens mysterious stranger farm because people were farming tasks too efficiently.

I know people have been hating all over the mercenaries content but I'm enjoying it so far and this video was actually quite helpful.

Anyway, I specifically meant people were hating Kripps mercenaries video content. There's plenty to criticize with the game mode itself. I like it sure but it feels totally unfinished.

The problem with Mercenaries as ARPG, where you farm to farm so you can farm better, is that good ARPG's generally have differing modes of farming. In D2, you go Blizzard Sorcerer to farm Hell Mephisto to get enough to afford an Engima and then go Hammerdin. In PoE, you may start with a League Starter to afford that necessary item for a build you want to play and from there make some truly monstrous farmer. You are doing the same actions/content but in a different manner. In Mercenaries you end up doing the same content the same way. The lack of variation of play while doing the same content is a significant issue for the PvE side of the game. And unlike PoE or D2, farming with your farming team does not help you that much with your other team. It doesn't feel good scraping for 15 coins for Anduin/Ragnaros only to see that your fully upgraded Bru'kan is approaching quadruple digit coins...
After farming a hours to finally get Anduin, it feels great to be able to do that sexy Anduin-Velen combo! The problem is that I am not exactly getting much out of it other than leveling characters I will never use.
The thing with ARPGs where you farm to farm, is that most of the time that farming feels good, as the combat itself is generally smooth and satisfying, so although you rinse & repeat over and over again, you always get a kick out of it. A card battler as an ARPG lacks that feeling completely, and what's more it breaks any kind of flow by the jumping between menus, loading screens and battles. Hell even the battle itself lacks any kind of smooth combat flow, as you're always intereupted by title screens and irrelevant animations.

But on the other hand, I really believe that the PvP has very high potential and low entry-barrier which is great news for free-to-play players out there.
and adding additional content to the non-PvP is definitely going to happen down the line.
+ it wouldn't be really hard to introduce some clash of clans type of mode, where you create a set of defensive teams on your map... and other players can try to "raid you" even when you are offline for example. In that way you would actually be able to use your "secondary heroes" and put them to good use for e.g. defense of your mercenaries village.
I was initially in the camp of "let's sabotage this stupid game mode which they ruined standard hearthstone for"... and now I am actually hooked and I'm starting to love it.
Yes the PvE content is basically not interesting to watch and the PvP doesn't have any helpful card text, so it's very easy to be confused as an observer while having no idea what's going on or who is winning.
Hearthstone itself is one of the best games for that matter. Even someone who didn't know anything about card games, saw hearthstone being played. They would have some basic understanding of who is doing well in a particular match.
But this doesn't mean that the mode is doomed to be unsuccessful.
It just needs to be financed by other sources.
Meta analytical videos and investigating different compositions is going to be very hot youtube content.
Every last part of that doesn't sound interesting at all.

For F2P Tyrande can be added to the farm team, she will boost arcane damage with some of the found bonus, has Multiple target attack and also is effective when you get the boss portal. ( if you need a 3 man team vs the 2)
I’d love to see the other more uncommon characters get some popularity in pvp other than Diablo samuro and xyrella.
you can farm legendary tokens if you just run the first level with just that legendary. sure it's 5 per run or w/e but it's still farming

you can also do the quest run with that legendary while the quest slot is full. When u got mysterious visitor and your slot is full, it gives 15 tokens regardless if its rare or legendary. its quite fast for legendary token farming
@@StRanGerManY I think Kripparrian video is suggesting you get a lot of free packs with this strategy and you may just passive pickup a leggo on the way

Great stuff Kripp! I feel Mercenaies is the place to go when I need to take a break from trying to climb to legend. It feels fresh enough but not really super original. I believe Blizzard will add a few more stuff to it for a better experience overall.

Sadly it‘s not working anymore. Now the rate of getting tasks is like 10-20 times lower because you pretty much have to do lvl 30 bounties which are fare away from short or easy farmable.
You simply can‘t do them with 2-3 aoe chars + it takes even longer because you want to complete them because the chests are relevant at lvl 30.
Wish I had read this comment before wasting time and gold expanding to heroic

Do these strategies still work?
The framing longer bounties for specific coins still works and is recommended unless you already maxed 2/3 mercs in the bounty. Mysterious Stanger was removed as you can automatically do any task you want and so the retiring for coins isn't worth it anymore.
Blink Fox, Tyrande and that Millhouse Manastorm, it's funny.
The Epic Elf Chick’s 3rd ability doubles the cast of the next arcane spell and increases the Speed Permenantly which works wonderfully with Millhouses Arcane Stacking as it’s an additional attack every time = More Damage and More Arcane Stackz!
Best Counter to Xyrella+Sam start = Mukla (taunt ape passive as 4th minion), King Krush(can ignore taunts, attacking the lowest HP opponent) + Rexxar (green targeted range damage).
BTW: Don't finish Quest 18 on epics/Legendaries! With a full Quest log (wait for daily reset ftw), you get 15 shards of a merc in your party that doesn't have an active quest whenever you visit the Quest objective in a run.

Do Normal/Heroic Corrupted Ancient and Lord Banehollow in Felwood to farm tasks. Not as fast as Air Elemental, but can be almost as fast (2 fights to the coin is possible)

Is this farming strat on 8 heroic still viable? I haven't gotten the quest dude as a surprise for like 20-30 runs in a row (since the latest patch) and before that he showed up regularly..
Nope they nerfed it hard in a 'hotfix', yesterday at the end of the workday. You have to do missions with recommended level close to your highest level mercenary now in order to get any reasonable chance of getting the Mysterious Stranger.

@@klodd5328 pretty sure it is just the team, but I haven't tested, I don't exactly have good heroes to clear maps not at level 30, and they wouldn't be able to farm one map for long.

These are my hits to farm: do the run just as Kripp suggest BUT do it only whit the mercenary you want to level up and FINISH the run. At the end you will get 5-15 coins for that mercenary FOR SURE not gatcha. That mean that in 20 runs of heroic aire elemental (second boss in the barrens) you will get in the worst scenario 100 coins for skills. Of course not all heroes can do that run (the fastest to fullfill) but that's a way to get the coins for free. 20 runs are like 3-4 hours of game I guess so think about it. Also do daily PvP bounty, but only till 4/4 chest. Over that is not worth unless you want to rush lvl30 with some low characters to do PvE solo.

I think that the last technique has been nerfed in last patch. I did a couple of quests with your technique but now I do not have any more quest appearing when I get the mystery coin. And I tried like 50 times so it seems that there is a cap for the number of quests you can get. Maybe daily or something. Would be interested to get more info if you have.
In the patch note I only see this : "General performance updates to Mercenaries mode."
there is a more specific change hidden in the forums, the chances of mysterious strangers goes way down if you have any heroes higher level than the recommended level for the bounty.

The one thing I see people fucking up on, (including Trump) is not checking the board while doing initial progression through all the bounties.
You won't necessarily want or need to go back and repeat any given bounty, so don't down Ragnaros and then discover you now have to go back and play practically all of them again because you didn't clear your tasks as you went.
My game is bugged. Constantly dropping games during the loading screen. Cant even get 3 matches in a row without 30 minutes of trying to find a match because of crashing

Personally iv finished the pve and have had fun with pvp and am sitting around 7k mmr, but pvp is so much more frustrating to lose against xyrela and samuro. Im just gone make maxing everyone my goal until pvp is changed up.
Farming Diablo is hell. He's one of last legendaries I don't have. Super annoying
So buy several hundred packs and farm for all my free time in the next 6 months. Got it.

I can't get over what a bad viewing experience this game mode is. There's no good visual feedback on the abilities you can choose from. The player knows what abilities are in each slot and which ability does what, but for anyone else watching, the preparation phase is just a blur of opening and closing popups.
