  • "Oppression doesn't have to be written down for it to be systemically racist." System Racism isn't just a talking point for politicians following the death of George Floyd. Instead it's a real problem our country has yet to deal with. Michael Harriot dumbs down the definition for those who still doubt it. theGrio Daily is an original podcast by theGrio Black Podcast Network.

    The one thing that I never do is minimize someone's experience. It's downright disrespectful. Had the unfortunate experience of being surrounded by white teenagers with baseball bats at the age of 11. You can't convince me that there's no racism. I witnessed it, felt it, it scared me for life. I don't play with those people.

      And you’re sure it was the color of your skin that got you in that situation? You’re sure it wasn’t something g you said or did, or even because strong kids hassle weak kids?

      Yeah, so it's all about you, and you would probably violently resist a European person talking about anyone doing anything against them that was similar or the same.

      These people say they're tired of black people complaining about racism in good ole america,because that couldn't happen here in Disneyland. I'm being sarcastic-LOL. And I respond when it stops happening in Disneyland to blacks,we'll stop complaining about it. No one cares about their feelings. LOL.

      @@user-be7tc2bd6e Seriously? Do you know what trash talking in sports is? It’s done for the purpose of getting under the opponents skin to throw off their game. The words are NOT said for the purpose of expressing a belief or an opinion, but for the effect on the listener. It can also be used to generate publicity for marketing purposes. What does that have to do with “systemic racism”? Everything! Because there is no “systemic racism”.

      @@ninadaly7639 There's a difference between trash-talking and being a racist,the guy during that game was a racist plain and simple.And he felt impowered to say racist things because of the all white crowd at that game.He would've said those things if that game had a half black crowd,but,that's how racist roll.They're pretty much cowards. There is systemic racism and racism here in Disneyland USA ( I'm being sarcastic ) some chose to ignore these issues,some chose to admit it,then some chose to do something about it. I chose to do something about it.

      Yes, the 13th amendment allows for slavery to exist under certain conditions. White men in the South started using that "loophole" of the exception clause to write new laws to enslave black Americans in convict leasing programs. That type of slavery ended in exactly, well, it hasn't ended yet.

    School funding is not driven by racism. It’s driven by property taxes. The criminal sentencing disparity is simply disingenuous! There has never been a study done comparing individual criminal histories and sentences. It’s not feasible.

    • @brenkelly8163
      @brenkelly8163 Před 2 měsíci

      The study not only exists, the US Government commissioned the report in the Arkansas "mass incarceration" system, presented it in 2018, and completed and published the report in April 2020. The study order from the US Commission on Civil Rights, funded by the taxpayer, found systemic racism, labeled as Racial Disparities and 'disparate impact', in every aspect of the prison system in the state of Arkansas. Black Americans bail, rates of incarcerations, sentencing, every measure was more disparate and worse than white prisoners. The report recommended 'restorative justice.' It largely reflected Arkansas' own report on recidivism that showed such racial disparities in treatment, again with black Americans treat the most unfairly, Latinos in second place, and whites at the top or the most fairly. Of course, the report wasn't a surprise that the state government produced as it reflected the 2011 University of Arkansas law school report showing disparate treatment across all aspects.
      Now, the Texas 2003 report showin racial disparaties I read.....

      @@brenkelly8163 So I looked at the study you mentioned and it’s CRT crap. There is no way the study could conclude what it concludes unless the took each case individually and compared their criminal histories. That has not been done. It would be virtually impossible.

      @@ninadaly7639 So you reviewed all three studies I mentioned that went over all factors and facets of the incarceration system and individual cases, created multiple statistical conclusions, done by the state of Arkansas, leading laws professors in another one, and the Trump administration in the third, and you concluded they are all “CRT crap.” You went through three studies which I have on file and highlighted and concluded the dozens of experts involved, both government and private sector officials, as well as leading law professors, and you, you concluded they are spouting “crap.” I think you just completely undermined your own credibility.
