    One great tip for cracked smartphone screen, tape the front screen with heavy duty tape. It can be very dangerous when the screen starts to get into pieces.

    There are more than just two kinds of loctite and the various formulas (243, 249, etc.)
    Low Strength - Purple
    Medium Strength - Blue
    Medium/High Strength - Green
    High Strength - Red
    High Strength - Black

    Not a easy fix. Good video to remind me that if you have never taken apart a cell phone before. You may want to practice on an old broken phone first instead of a phone that you plan to use again. Good video from a not too technical person.

    Not sure if anyone else added this yet.... but there are actually quite a few different types of Loctite threadlocker, from light purple to green for different strengths and fastener sizes so be careful when purchasing it. Typically, a blue type (medium strength) is most commonly used; purple is low strength; red is high strength and heat resistant to some degree; green is typically used as a "gap filler" or to help press fit items bond even tighter/secure lose fitting bearings and can only be removed using intense heat and pressure. Putting that on a threaded fastener will pretty much insure that it will never come apart again....ever lol. I think strengths/purposes do vary even within the same color schemes so make sure of what you're buying or you could end up in some serious trouble.

    i work as a repair tech and i have a couple of tips for you , longer nails are awesome , i can pop open an s4 mid-frame in like 4 seconds, and starting it is no problems ,just stick thumbnail in edge and slide it around , thumbnail also works a a swedger , swedgers can end up breaking chips off, all s4's have 2 antenna ,but besides these criticisms you did a good job , just be careful with that swedger , one miss and you mess up the mobo and you essentially have a paper weight

    Great video, I don't know what it is about your instruction videos, but I find myself captivated and watching the whole thing, even though I'm not doing the project. The only problem I saw Will is that you blew off the yuck on the ear speaker, while holding it OVER the phone. Thus, when you put in the front facing camera, there might not have been dust on the camera because you were careful to face it down, but now there could be dust from cleaning the ear speaker in its holder. I would have shot it with some air before putting the camera in.

    Hello Tested! I need your advice on phone repair!
    My phone had a tragic accident of being smushed by my car door. the digitizer is fully functional (miraculously) and I'm in the process of replacing the glass screen. Only problem is, when I removed the speaker and vibrator speaker the adhesive from the contact pad strips dried and won't stick. What kind of adhesive should I use? And does the adhesive need to be conductive?

    • @sarahh9903
      @sarahh9903 Před 8 lety

      Basically what I'm trying to say is that the glass is cracked but the phone is still fully functional. The digitizer is what enables the touch screen, back light, and screen to work.

    I now think I'll just use my broken screened mobile for small things and simply COVER FROM HERE TO ETERNITY my other mobile and use it... that replacement costs more than I paid for my latest new mobile! Kroiky!!
    Oh-- and while we are both here.... does replacing a battery (or screen) in a modern [your vid was from forever ago - in electronics years] mobile cause any losses? Is there a list of shizza I should be aware of first?

    Oooh, I realized 13 minutes in you're replacing the digitizer (and the glass). So I guess that is technically the entire screen. Was the digitizer actually broken? As others have mentioned the glass replacement doesnt require any disassembly of the back of the phone at all. Im especially curious though if the ifixit iphone heat bag things work for removing the glass on samsung devices.
