I used to own one of these and I was quIte satisfied. Then I had an idea. I bought two of the NUX Rocktary pedals and ran them into two amps. The lower rotor isn't as good as other pedals but the horn is what matters and it's just fine. Adjust the rotor/horn balance and dry/effect mix as needed and then use a special trick for the most amazingly spacious sound. Turn the slow speed down slightly for one pedal and up slightly for the other. This will throw them out if sync and it's incredible. If you look hard you can actually get two of these for less than the RT-20. It may be possible to connect an external foot switch to change the speeds for both at the same time. If you ever get the chance to hear it don't pass it by. You'll never go back. It's perfect for replicating David's Live Wall sound using two Yamaha RA-200s.

Hey Musty, have you ever tried the Fender "The Pinwheel" rotary pedal? I'm wondering how this compares to the rt-20 because I love the way the rt-20 sounds but it's hard to find one.
Hey! I did. It’s a great pedal for sure but not an alternative for Gilmour sound. It doesn’t have a mix control and it’s not even a Yamaha sound, it’s Leslie sound. And I think strymon lex is a bit better Leslie than that. Edit: now that I think about it, it’s not a typical Leslie either. Very unique sound and it’s great, just not ideal for Gilmour

Great vid!! Killer tones man.. You say in the description that 'a leslie Sim isn't gonna cut it', isn't leslie Sim and rotary the same effect? If not, what's the difference? Was thinking about getting the digitech Ventura vibe because it has a rotary setting but now I'm scared.. 🤔
well, i meant, leslie simulator is not going give you the sound of Gilmour's rotating speaker: Yamaha RA200 they are all rotating speakers, but yamaha ra200 is quite different from leslie. you can use leslie too if you want, i will sound good too, i sometimes use it too. but it's not going to give the unique gilmour tone. Because yamaha ra200 has a unique chorus-like tone. btw, from what i heard, ventura is a kind of uni-vibe, not a dead on rotary simulator.
@@mustyguitar thanks for the answer.. The Ventura has 3 modes, univibe, vibrato and rotary. From videos the rotary sounds pretty good but still not sure.
I got one of these in 2008 and use it up until about a year ago. yes, like all Boss 20 series it's too big and too heavy but I don't care. It'll come out again. One flaw only - the Univibe model is pretty crappy, but was a cute and historically relevant gesture.
i've read somewhere that if you use ce5 with ce2 it's as close as you can get to gilmour pulse tones without a rotary but i haven't tried it. edit: it's not ce5 and ce2 guys, its ce5 and ce-2b (yes the bass pedal)
they don't ship the pedal to Turkey for some reason. from what i heard, it's a tad better than this pedal for Pulse tones, but overall, they are pretty close. i wouldn't replace this for the price.

I love the pedal, but realized that going into the amp input was noisy. I currently run it thru the loop and it sound great.

that is a tough one, it's actually not a rotary per se, kind of a mix between a uni-vibe and leslie, it will be hard but it's better than no rotary.
