This is a favorite plane of mine. Transporting it requires removing both wings for me, but, I replaced the stock wing screws with thumb screws. I don't need a drive to attach the wings anymore. I painted the head of the thumb screws with matching neon green so if I drop one, its easy to spot. The thumbscrews and strut pins are kept in a zip lock baggy and stored in the fuse with the wing spar for transport. The wings are secured with elastic hook and loop band. I typically fly with a 5000 4S. Its a tad heavy with that but it gives me a long therapy session. LOL
I have this plane and it’s great!! I fly it with a roaring top 4s 5000 for the weight , I get 12 min flights. I also put du bro soft tires on it !! Excellent model so fun and decile !!
Dander 1800mm One of the best rc airplanes I’ve flown
I bet this is a great flying plane. But, you really make it look beautiful in the air, Brian. And the Camera Crew captures it all perfectly.
Just bought some props, prop shafts and spinners for my PA18 1.3m through your links -thanks for the FMS coupon codes!! So, hopefully those commissions help with the pond 😊
Great video, guys 👍
A very good firday morning to you sir in the USA from Wellington Somerset in the UK 🇬🇧
Great!!! I just got the Ranger 1220 mm and it flies perfectly. hated the RTF transmitter that came with it though, receiver kept cutting out. Switched it to Spektrum immedieately
Might have a bad batch of the receivers equipped. The Bigfoot had that issue too.
Did yours come with a flysky transmitter?
@@7spliffs370 No. I have the Bigfoot only. It had reciever issues.
actually mine did. I bought the RTF off of Amazon and it came with a flysky fsi4@@7spliffs370
FMS has a unique quality built into their planes, thats probably why some of their models like the super cub, the Ranger, Piliatus PC-21., have been in production for 5 or more years..i hope they continue with these planes in production for many years to come. Brian I really want a new mid sized STOL plane but which one is tough to decide..thanks for a great review.
Did you decide or not yet. I am trying to figure out which one is a better buy? Fms cub 1700mm vs ranger 1800mm. Was thinking of beaver too but it's 6s
Love that green 🍏. Very cool!!!
What if you just used some RC construction equipment to build the pond? It would probably be quicker, cheaper and a heck of a lot more fun. 🚜
That would be amazing! Calling RCSparks!!! Megan and I could even give them a "private corner of the woods" - LOL ;)
Hello, is this a trainer plane for beginners? It flies so smoothly. I like that the white car stopped to enjoy the flight and landing. " Hey! "
You crushed it again, thanks
Looks great!
I Love it, you throw it around as if you've stolen it, awesome... looks like I have to fly a bit harder, But the front wheel is a bit weak as I have broking my But all good Great work
Pilots do love a good pair of squishy tires 🤣🤣
Love the looks and the size. Price is awesome as well. I have watched you review I have no idea how many planes???
But for some reason I think this is the best looking plane I’ve seen you fly. Something about its size, the surroundings, clouds and time of day????
It just looks so real and scale flying. I can’t really explain it. But it just grabs my eye. Great video. Thank you.
You should see the hsd Cessna 182
Ranger 1800mm is awesome plane! Good smooth flying...
Question: First flight being a maiden but you talked about flying on a 4000 for 17min prior?
Hey Brian, camera crew, I love this new angle. You should fly down at the end of the driveway more!
Hey Brian, regarding the flashing lights. I too, do not like flashing lights. So, the cable you removed in the other video to stop the flashing, was that a special cable that made them flash? I'm trying to understand what you replaced the cable with. Awesome flight as well!!
Bigger is better!
Really nice with the lights.
2nd question can you turn the lights on and of from your controller?
Question for you Brian, I’ve got the Ranger 1220 and my buddy went to grab it out of the water and I think he dipped it in the water as the motor started smoking when I connected a new battery. So the question is I need to replace the motor, is there a better motor and battery I can get to have more flight time…maybe what you are using with that Ranger 1800. What is your recommendation and links to use
NIIIIICE 👌🏻
I like living in Indiana in an unincorporated neighborhood. Not a lot of rules and the fees for violating them are often not much more than getting permits ahead of time.
yep, only we don't have fees...the problem with our property, which is also a good thing too in terms of valuation when we eventually sell, is we're in the most populous county, which has the capitol city, so we basically have to deal with the capitol city who thinks they own our private property....so annoying!
Do they make floats for it?
I thought you did a review of it over a year ago?
On mine, I replaced my wheels with Robert rubbers scale tires and its much smoother on landings now.
I currently fly paramotors and wanted a second hobby. My rc trucks just seem to sit so i got a ranger 1220mm with reflex v2. I havent flown it yet. Is it safe to fly for a first flight without real simulator time? Im waiting for simulator as we speak
Knew I should have bought this during the 20% off sale smh. Been holding out for the P-47 to come back in stock.
It looks like either a Cessna 172 or 175.
Brian
I know when take off, land ,or do stunts you do
it into the wind but what
do you do if their is no
wind about take off or
Landing or stunts.
Thank. You
Brian
No wind = do it any direction you'd like.
Hey Brian!! Maybe reach out to letsdig18 . He's a fellow CZcamsr and digs ponds for a living. I'm not sure, but he may not be too terribly far from yall.. might give him a shout and see what kinda deal yall can work out. I've been watching him for a while and he's definitely cool to watch. Not as cool as you and camera crew of course. Haha anyways just thought I'd share that. Love the vids brother.
Hi
I have a cirrus srt22 from horizon
Im new to frying what are the flaps for
And when to use them ?
That plane may be a bit tough as a true beginner plane. For one, it's a LOW WING, with NARROW CHORD (front to back), and very aggressive stall tendencies. We have videos about this plane, and loved it, but it's NOT one I would suggest to a beginner.
Check out our playlist and see what you think...

Flaps are used to lower the stall speed and add drag to the plane. It's like BREAKS, but there are also breaks on the wheels, but you gotta get the planes on the ground before they're useful, and YES, some planes have AIR BREAKS too, and also lots of other aerodynamic control surfaces that are used to help accomplish different things. With flaps DOWN (deployed into "takeoff" or "landing" setting, or a percentage DOWN) the plane can keep flying at lower speed before a stall would happen (plane FALLS out of the lift that had been carrying it), and the plane is allowed to point down a bit more, so the pilot, in a full scale plane can both see better, and get down to the runway, without gaining as much speed. Remember, 99.99999% of the time, you're flying DOWN to the runway, and this would ordinarily gain speed, but you're trying to bleed it off, so this allows you to also ADD DRAG.
Much more here to explain, but you'll have to watch a lot of videos to get caught up!
Here's our "beginner list" in case you want to hold off on the Cirrus SR22T for the moment...and keep her for when you're better prepared. We don't want you to be a "one and done", and end up quitting if you destroy that beauty on the first flight. We try hard to help keep people from doing this, but it's up to everyone what and how they do things...we just want to help.

Hi Brian to support you through your website. If I go to Amain and purchase a plane will that help you as I buy parts from them?
Cheers Robbie
It sure does! You can always go through...

for whatever you need. Thank you for supporting our family!
Does she have stabilization?
Yes
Sorry, I thought you meant auto leveling.
If you mean AS3X. That's not the receiver they put in. You could put that in, but they chose to put in the less expensive receiver.
Thanks Wayne
I guess horizon isn’t releasing anything today
Hey Brian Phillips i have some Rc air planes if you’d be interested in buying them from me
Hi Brian as a koi pond owner i feel ur pain with the pond build you need to get hold of @Greg wittstock @ Aquasource
The pain is real. Just spent the first $2,000 today for topo mapping. Next up is $4000-5000 for geotesting with a drill...that's gonna suck, but at that point, we'll know if we can actually make it where we want to make it, and if not, we can stop the pain and suffering of the planning. We're 5 months in, and still have very, very little done. Fortunately, the crew that's going to line up the engineering is very good, and seems like a fair group, priced in the middle of the pack, and highly recommended, so hopefully they'll help us keep things from getting too out of hand, and also help us get the BEST outcome we could possibly get.
