Very informative video. Before this video i have read 3 different tutorials how to turn on DRL, but non of them weren't that informative like yours. When i watched your video, i coded DRL in my bmw in like 2min.

Great video, I finally got NCS to work on my 2002 E46 325CI today and used your US style running lights video, although it needed different settings as I have a different LSZ it took a few attempts of trial and error. Just an idea, you can pick up a can of satin black spray paint from Wilko (assuming you're in the UK) for less than £4, mask up around the bottom front grill and stick a bin bag behind it to mask the radiator then clean it and give it a few coats of paint. It makes the front end look a lot better than the faded grey.

You're absolutely right. I really don't like that grill. I don't mind painting it but I'm a bit concerned about small chips on the motorway, the pain will come off. Did they come in black when new or that's their original colour?
Dan B I have the same car as you. Can you explain what you meant by different settings? I would like to try is coding feature for daytime running lights.

Not much more to it, I think NCS Expert In General as a program is a little buggy overly complicated, I would love to write my own program to code with easier functionality, do not think it would be worth the time invested. But nice you made a video start to finish, really filled in the gaps for me.

What options do you need to select to have dimmed high beams when light switch is middle position? This is the setting you had initially in your video (No drl, basically dimmed high beam instead of side markers)
Am I able to turn on my sidelights to be on when I drive on a 2002 e46?
And if I would turn them on with my angel eyes, would they work like every other day time running light?
BTW, is there any options to make fender turning signal always on? just like the dimmed front turn signal as DRL

I have only just noticed that my E46 330ci 2002 model does this. Slightly different, there are only on when sidelights are on. At 1st I thought I had shorted something out as I only noticed when I changed the bulbs to LEDs

Hey Ryan, video was extremely helpful but was hoping you might be able to help a little more! Im having trouble coding my e46 headlights and was hoping you could help. I went from factory bixenons to aftermarket halogens (yeah I know its a step backwards lol) and was curious how you code the low beam halogens to work? Do I change the low beam pwm and uncheck all the xenon stuff? Currently running the high beams as daytime running lights so I at least have something but am still avoiding night driving. thanks!!

Is it possible to prevent the lights closest to the kidney grills from turning on and instead turn on the fog lights?
Great vid I got mine working with slightly different steps to this one. Question: Can the Brightness of the orange solid indicator DRL be increased with coding ? for example when you indicate traditionally the pulse is bright. Can this level of brightness be transferred to the solid DRL using coding? Is there an option to toggle this with NCS expert? could someone help thanks.

Check minute 4:17 DRL_DIMMUNG - I believe those values change the brightness. Let me know if it works
I have a '03 E46 325i Chinese version, for the dimmed turning signal as DRL, I have also to check the DRL_BLK_VORN_GEDIMMT (dimmed front turn signal as DRL) box. The ORIGINAL code of this option is not enabled by default, FYI.
hi. how can i change high beam mode on bi-xenon headlights (bmw e46 2004year ) high beam on my car only via bi-xenon lense, but a want that turn on high beam (hallogen) lamp with xenon bulb.

Hi Nick! I know you can have that coded on the E90s. I will have a look if it’s possible for the E46
Ryaniwk It would be very useful for someone who drives through tunnels a lot (like me), where it's not necessary to have the lights on because the tunnel has some lights, but it's a bit too dark to see the cluster properly.

It is available for the E90/1/2/3 for sure. I’m not so sure about the E46...
Hi Nick. I was playing a bit with NCS today, and the only way to have the cluster illuminated at all times is activating European DRL (one of the first options). The only thing is the low beams will ALWAYS stay on, even with switch on 0
You should Code the brake force display aswell

I did it once on a 2000 E46. The settings might be slightly different.

Hey good evening. I have an e46 with Xenon and an automatic Light sensor but in the next time i want to Upgrade IT with angel eyes So I want that when it's sunny outside that when my Lights on automatic that the Angel eyes turn on and if it gets dark that the Xenon turn on. So with that I dont have to put on "0" to turn on DRL and then when it's dark to the 2nd Position. Would be nice if my drls and Xenon work on automatic Light sensor. I hope u can help me out

Alexx Alexandru, for sure! Pa soft it's much easier to use, although you can't code DRLs with it :/
I'd like some US style and maybe a few other small things. I use the angel eyes most of the time and i don't need DRLs ^^
You still need NCS to code the US style lights I'm afraid... :(

Hiya Ryan, I've got a question. I've got my dimmed high beams as DRL lights and they're always on as long as the ignition is on, even if the lights switch is on off, so I physically cannot have my lights off until I turn the ignition off. Is there a way I can keep dimmed high beams as DRLs but be able to switch my lights off while the car is on?

Hi! Do you mean to have the rear fogs always on? I dont think so. You can code rear DRLs, but not the fogs.

Is it possible to make the fog lights the DRL's and have them stay on with headlights? I'd like to use LED bulbs with the built-in ballast/heat sink for fogs. I know I could just wire them to an accessory fuse in the fusebox but wondering if it could be programmed so off when high beams flash. Thanks.

That's a very good question!
I'd love to have the fog lights as DRL's, like the modern cars. By default, I think the fogs will go off when you flash the high beams.
I will do a research about the fog lights as DRLs. If you or anyone else figure it out a way to do it, please do let me know!

Why you choose in NCS Dummy LSZ C35 when in the beginning (1.41) you copied your module from LSZ C34?

@@Ryaniwk Can't be done with coding, you need to manually jack them into the interior footlights. I've seen it done when people install angel eyes, it's the same deal.

I managed to increase the brightness of the indicators, had to dissable the fullbeam as drl.
Hello, could I ask you for help maybe? I finally got my setup to communicate with my car which I am happy about but now I am in the dark.
I have a light sensor and so I would like to have during the day *both front sidemarkers + high beam on (on low power)* but when it gets dark I would like to switch automatically to low beam etc etc. Could you please tell me what settings to choose? Thanks a lot. I'll continue trying in the meantime. Maybe I'll get lucky and get it working myself before a reply :)

Is it possible you could show us how to make the lcm match the cars vin?
literally all you have to do it go to alsz and sg_codieren first do not read first and that will update that specific module with the correct vin

yes but in the pre-facelift you have to choose the KMB module
ALSZ and AKMB -> FaceLift
EWS and KMB -> Pre-FaceLift

Hey, i think i tried everything.. But is it possible to use park lights(angle eyes) as DRL and when it gets dark my xenons will turn on. I do have automatic light sensor. Before xenons only started when it got dark.. Here we need to have lights on daytime

With coding, drls can only be dipped high beams or side indicators (us style)

Yes, I did notice. Although when you change to low beams it goes to normal. I think that because its meant to more brighter during the day.
Another reason could be because in my car I do have a faulty tail bulb that never worked (long story).

There's an other reason as well for the brighter light.
If the STOP bulb goes off when you hit the brakes at least one of the two "normal" bulbs is flashing as a brake bulb.

Managed to get the highbeams as drl on, but no luck with the tail lights. DRL_BLK_VORNE_2_GEDIMMT aktiv doesn't do the trick. Any chance there is another option I might have missed?

@@Ryaniwk I compared the other options to mine, it seems like you have a few more pins enabled. Might be because mine is a touring? I should actually check if all the bulb sockets are populated first.

I bought mine ages ago from Ebay. One of those sellers who offer 1-click installation software. I think it was bmcables or similar.
When you run INPA do you get the 2 black dots?
I get the 2 black dots but it says ignition and connection is off. Still can read fault codes and read measurements fine through INPA. But NCS expert gives me vin is faulty errors

Nevermind, mate. Sorted myself out. Ticked two lines off with (DAUERFAHRLICHT_EU and TAGFARHLICHT_ECE NCS and they only work with the switch now. Thanks for the video !

i had my uncle code my bmw e46 zhp and now the drl stays on and i want that off how can i uncode that? i dont see my uncle anymore so he cant help me out
Hi, Jesse. You will need NCS Expert and a cable to code that. In this video, you can see what options you'll need to turn off, but you need the software and the cable to do it
Hey I enabled this a while a go and worked perfectly I then disabled it and now when I am trying to enable it again it won’t work, do you have any idea why, I can get the us markers to work but the Europe ones won’t work

I bought this cable ages ago. It came with the software (1 click install). I think the company was BM cable. I bought it on eBay.
