- IT'S FINALLY HERE!! The Schmigadoon! Season 2 trailer has arrived and I wanted to react to it for the first time with you of my fellow Schmigadoonians. So come watch along with me PLUS I discover some fun hidden easter eggs already! So rouge your knees, roll your stockings down, and let's head to Schmicago!
Now this makes me hope we can get season 3 and beyond. Would love to keep going with different eras of musicals until we hit modern day ones. I'm so excited for season 2, it's gonna be a fun one!
Ok but imagine an entire season of Schmigadoon in a Man of La Mancha setting giving Galavant vibes?
I think were gunna get all the musicals in different seasons
I’m hoping to see some 80s mega-musical content (ALW/Sondheim type stuff) in season 3!
Random little tidbit: Martin Short was actually in the original production of Godspell, along with Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, and more greats in Toronto. (Gilda Radner recounts the experience in her autobiography, which I read when I was nine because I'm that flavor of nerd). Sooo psyched for the show to start again...I've watched the first season an embarrassing number of times. Love your breakdowns and can't wait for more!
The opening ultrasound obstetric sounds giving the percussion feel of Cell Block Tango! Also, I kind of shrieked when I saw Alan Cumming as Sweeney.
I was actually surprised to see Josh and Melissa back since I thought they might just rotate in another couple for the new era but I'm glad they are because I missed them also I'm SO HAPPY TO SEE THEM DOING CHICAGO and it sounds like they really are doing eras so we're going to see more seasons after!
I don’t think this is about that they can’t have a baby. … Isn’t she an obstetrician? I think it was showing that their life was becoming monotonous. (Hence her telling all her patients “this is the foot” over and over)

I've already watched the trailer 4 times. Your wide eyed reaction once they entered Shmicago was very similar to mine! I am so unbelievably excited for this new season!!!
I will admit it is a bit strange to me that they're casting Alan Cumming as a Sweeney Todd type and not something from Cabaret, but I trust this show to make it fabulous no matter what. Aaron Tveit's new look is priceless, Jane Krakowski as a Billy Flynn style lawyer is my everything, and Titus fits so perfectly into this series it feels like he's always been there.
I cannot wait to finally see how this all plays out!

With Tevit’s reference to getting naked, is it Hair rather than Godspell? I immediately thought Hair.
I was thinking Hair with a bit of Sweet Charity's Rhythm of Life
I think it's a blend. They're parodying the era as much as specific shows, so I don't think it's out there to have a reference to one show coming from a character from another.
I think his character is supposed to be a parody of hippy/rock ‘n’ roll musical that cropped up at the time in general.
His last name is spelled “Tveit”
I do have to wonder how (or if) they'll acknowledge that the same actors are now different people. Like Josh seeing Ariana DeBose and saying, "wait, you were this wholesome school teacher, what happened?". Maybe there's a whole other meta-level to this city where all these people are trapped in these musicals and Josh and Melissa need to find a way to break the curse.
I'm pretty sure Aaron Tveit is channeling Berger in "Hair" :D

I agree, it's probably not about having a baby, she delivers babies, so that clip is showing the usual grind in reality. As far as costumes, although they might have obtained some to go back and find Schmigadoon, I have another idea. In the first one, Melissa wears several different dresses which I doubt she would have packed for a camping trip. I figured since the automatically know the lyrics and dance steps, that by the same magic, they have appropriate clothing available when they finish bathing or otherwise need to change clothes.
