I Buy a Vinyl Record Collection Full of Madonna and 80’s Pop Music

- One of the things I have learned over the past 18 years of having the retail store is that you can’t always buy records that you love. Sometimes you have to think beyond your own personal likes and buy items that might interest your customers. It is no mystery to people who know me that I tend to lean towards the obscure when it comes to music taste, and when I first opened i tended to try and “curate” the records in the store towards the higher end, rare ish valuable stuff. I would often pass over more common “pop” records. It took me awhile but I eventually realized, who am I to be the gatekeeper to other peoples taste. Now I try and welcome everyone into the store, and try to provide a wide range of titles, in hopes that everyone is able to find and enjoy music that they love. Case in point I just picked up this nice collection of 1980’s Pop music. Not my cup of Tea, but there is a reason that Madonna has sold tens of millions of records over the years, and I know these records will bring some of my customers great joy. That’s what really matters.

17 racks full of vintage vinyl records with 70% of them in the $5-$15 range. We also have mid century modern and teak furniture, lighting and decor. Vintage toys from the 1950’-1990’s. West German and art pottery and Scandinavian glass. Vintage Barware. Advertising signs. Sports Cards, Comics, cast iron man cave type stuff and everything nostalgic. The weird and elegant. The funky and downright ugly. The cool stuff your parents threw away when you moved out. It’s all here
Good way to build inventory
The thing is I bought heavily in the 90’s. (Sadly not 90’s releases). I have storage full of liquor boxes filled with records lol, but it’s a nice change to bring in Pop titles. Hopefully my customers see it the same way lol

That 12" single by Jellybean is "Sidewalk Talk" written by Madonna and she sings background vocals. The "Holiday Rap" record is Madonna's "Holiday" with new lyrics.
