I have had my shampooer a few months now. I have cleaned my carpet a couple of times and it did a super job. I decided to clean the brushes, et.al. I spent a couple of hours this morning trying to clean it after reading the directions that came with it. Even after reading the directions thoroughly, step by step, the directions mentioned the three screws but didn't say where they were located. If I hadn't watched this video, I probably would have spent a couple of more hours trying to locate the darn screws. I wish I had watched this video before I began my cleaning job, it would have saved me a lot of time and frustration. Thank you!

Thank you so much for showing me how to clean and maintain this device. The manual was not very clear about how to remove the bottom portion of the dirty water chamber. Turns out my insert was simply stuck to the tank when the manufactured it. Seeing you remove the insert gave me the courage to use more pressure and it popped loose.

Thank you for the video very informative not like about 95% of all other youtube video's that don't have a clue how to make a video and do it well. I actually got this today been looking at carpet cleaners for about a month doing research on what is a good one. I like the heated part and wanted a brush roller for better agitation of stains and hair. I don't have pets but boy I was shocked to see the amount of crud just come out of the carpet in my apartment. It really did a fantastic job and I got the same one as you... ORANGE! probably why I got it in the first place.

Thank you for creating this video. Good information. I have the old Bissell model that is still working fine. I see a few pros and cons, I hope Bissell is listening:
Pros : The water tank separation is great. Currently I never know if I have any water left in the tank or if I have collected all the water from the carpet.
Cons: 1) I don't like the idea of having the solution in the water. I prefer to always do one last pass with water only to make sure that all the solution is removed from the carpet. (if solution is left in carpet you will have a streaky carpet in about a month)
    2) I agree with you that having the floor rollers continue to work while you are using the tools is a bad idea and may destroy the carpet area if you use the tools in the same area for too long
    3) I kind of like the old cleaner's method of switching between "tools" vs "floor cleaner" . As I clean my carpet I come across areas with nooks and crannies the 'floor cleaner' does not reach. I like that I can easily switch to an edge cleaner tool by simply turning a knob clean the spot, turn the knob again, and resume floor cleaning.
4)I like that the old tools are usable in the new machine. I have an edge cleaner tool that is very good to clean around the baseboards. The new machine seems to be sorely missing these crucial tools. I agree, do not throw away any of the old tools.
In short , thanks for making this video, I hope Bissell is listening and takes care of some of these shortcomings in the next model. In the meantime I will try to make the old Bissell keep working a little longer even if I hate the water container method.

Thanks alot, I just got a new one, there are no instructions in my box so I was reluctant to pull hard after raising the red catch at the top. I have had hoovers and this one is very much easier to use. I have had 2 regular vacuums stop working after a cpl months so instead of shelling out a lot on another I went over to the industrial area in home dep and got a large rigid shop vac. It has a 2 & 1/2" dia hose and wand. It takes a lot of work to use it, cleans so much better. This is what I do and will be difficult for many other people.....

With your comment about the brushes at 16:30 I highly recommend getting a small piece of carpet (can be any kind, though the really short cheap commercial kind is the one that I got.) and put it under the vacuum while using the hand tool. If you leave it on in the same spot for too long, it will 100% damage the carpet especially since it kicks out a lot of heat.

I love mine. Cleans great and yes when it's upright the bushes should stop except in one instance. For max cleaning I use the included tub in my bathtub. I put the Bissell tub in my bathtub with my bathtub drain open to allow water to drain. I put my Revolution in the Bissell tub and fill that with water and plug and play my Revolution. This cleans pretty well the brushes and al.Careful the Revolution is plugged in. Don't allow drain in tub to close to allow water level to rise.

Agree this is a good review of this Bissell. However, if you are getting a lot of “junk” balling up in the intake as in this video, stop and vacuum again. Maybe in different directions. My Shark Navigator Professional does a great job of picking up the longhaired cat hair. Had very little “junk” in my intake. Even after 3+years of not cleaning the new carpet. Like my Bissell, dark paths now are clean.

I just bought one of these, and since I've never owned a carpet cleaner, I figured I'd watch some CZcamsrs give me good tips on using the machine and accessories. Thanks for the review, the comparison of the older unit, and a good explanation of the tear-down of the basic components of the carpet cleaner. I do have a question for everyone though, Will one pass get a fairly dirty carpet clean? Or do most folks find themselves doing multiple passes in order to get the carpet cleaning job done right? Also, do I have to use a vertical pass and then a horizontal pass, or one pass in either direction do the carpet cleaning job right?

I was unable to unclog the front of the machine with that plastic tool. I purchased an expensive wool rug and the first time I used the Bissel Proheat 2x, it got totally clogged with fibers. Just as you showed at 9:46. The rotating rollers were also tied up with fibers but I was able to cut them with scissors and remove the fibers and hair by hand. The vacuum stopped sucking and made all my other rugs and carpet wet. If anyone knows a way to open that front part, so I can unclog it and the dirty water can flow again I will be thankful. Right now the vacuum is useless.
